I do not think the problem needs an engine change, try and solve the issue and don't think of a new engine yet.
What if you get a new engine and there is another funny sound from another corner, you will keep changing engine i guess.
Do a scan or let a professional BMW techie do a proper diagnosis for you and get back to the house. There should be a solution to it.
However, if you insist on getting another engine, i can help get the price of the complete engine or borale, but i would prefare you diagonise the engine properly and get the cause of that funny sound. Engine steaming and running smoothly is not a sign of an engine going down.

Your honda city engine if well maintained is far more raliable.

My advice, personally supervise the restoration works and ensure that a good rewire handles the wiring system. You can also help them with the manual. Am saying you should supervise it, so that you ensure that everything is done and restored to manufacturer settings.
If you are able to do this, you will save yourself from incessant visit to the rewire's workshop. Goodluck
