Meaning the press secretary should be comfortable with the Fulani terrorists annihilation conquest happening right under your nose in Benue State?

Thank goodness Peter Obi is not in Benue yet. Before Alia will said he instigated the hapless man. God help this nation under these demons called leaders.
Hi Racoon,

Not sure if you saw my earlier message, but I've been thinking about your PLO Lumumba quote and how it connects to a pattern we keep seeing.

Every generation, we get voices calling for higher standards - from Zik's intellectual frameworks to Nzeogwu's brief attempt at merit-based governance. Even during Biafra, we had scientists like Eugene Arene turning to research and innovation instead of just appealing to foreign powers.

But here's what keeps happening: the voices emerge, they diagnose the problems perfectly (like you do), but then... nothing strategic follows. No coordinated action. No platform that can actually challenge the mediocrity.

We're stuck in this cycle where the best minds analyze brilliantly but stay isolated on platforms that don't really amplify serious discourse. Seun's site has its limits, as you've probably noticed.

The link I can't post here (Nairaland blocks outlinks) is: kparakpo dot vercel dot app

It's time we stopped just talking about the dysfunction and started building the alternative. Your analysis deserves a platform that matches its quality.

This isn't about replacing what you do here - it's about having a space where strategic action can actually follow the diagnosis.

What do you think? Are we going to keep repeating the same cycle, or try something different this time?

So after the slavemasters fought over the fortunes and finished their colonialism, then Cameroon went into self colonization again with the likes of Paul Biya? Africa deliver yourself from wicked leaders.
Hi Racoon,

I've been reading your posts on the ECOWAS and ISWAP situation. Your analysis of the GIABA report was spot on - the kind of evidence-based discussion that's rare these days.

That PLO Lumumba quote you shared really hit home: "In Japan a corrupt person kills himself. In China, they will kill him. In Europe, they join him. In Africa, he will present himself for election." So true about how we keep rewarding dysfunction here.

A few of us are starting something different - a space for serious Nigerian political discussion without the usual noise. We're looking for people who actually think before they post, like yourself.

From Zik to Nzeogwu to the Biafran scientists, some of us have always pushed this society to aim higher. Your posts continue that tradition of calling out mediocrity.

Interested in being part of something that values quality over quantity? We could use voices like yours.

Let me know if you want to hear more.

I’m into AI . I have developed a deep learning model that classifies pictures. Everything works fine but I just need to make my work user friendly.

I need an app (web app or mobile app or both) that just has somewhere to upload images and an output page.

Output page depends on the prediction of the image made by my model.

I have already developed the html and css parts using jinja template. Your job will be to do the JavaScript part. I am supposed to do this on my own but I haven’t got any time left. I need someone to hire to help out as I’m learning on the job and this slows my progress.

Please mention me if you think you can do this.
Hey, I can help with your projects. They look interesting.
CrimeHURIWA Warns Of Looming Ethnic War Over Fulani Herdsmen Killings by absalut(op): 6:59am On Jun 16, 2025
The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has warned the Federal Government over the killing of 200 Benue residents by Fulani herdsmen.

The group urged the government to urgently halt the continuous attacks by suspected armed Fulani herdsmen across Nigeria or risk widespread armed resistance by other ethnic groups in the country.

The rights group described the recent massacre of over 200 persons in Benue State as a crime against humanity and a dangerous escalation that could spiral into nationwide ethnic violence.

HURIWA’s National Coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko, gave the warning in a press statement issued in Abuja on Sunday, following reports of a bloody attack by suspected terrorist herdsmen on the Tiv-speaking Yelewata and Daudu communities in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.

The victims, according to the group, include women, children, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and five security personnel.

According to the group, despite prior intelligence from residents about the impending attack, the Federal Government and security agencies failed to intervene or deploy adequate forces to the area.

HURIWA alleged that attackers stormed the communities from two flanks, overpowered local youths and police operatives, and then proceeded to open fire on defenceless civilians, including IDPs sheltering in market stalls.

It condemned what it termed the “persistent inaction” of the Federal Government, describing the role of the security chiefs and the National Security Adviser as grossly incompetent and complicit.

The association warned that should the government fail to act decisively to bring an end to the targeted killings allegedly carried out by armed Fulani insurgents, Nigeria may descend into an unprecedented civil crisis, as ethnic groups facing continued invasions may begin to arm themselves for self-defence.

“The President is playing with fire,” HURIWA stated, “by allowing his incompetent security chiefs and the National Security Adviser to retain their positions despite repeatedly failing to prevent mass killings.”

The group noted that many communities have in the past received intelligence about attacks and relayed such information to authorities, but nothing was done to prevent bloodshed. “The service chiefs and the NSA remain ensconced in their air-conditioned offices in Abuja while rural communities are left to suffer repeated tragedies,” the group added.

HURIWA laid the blame for the Benue massacre squarely on the laps of the Inspector-General of Police and the military high command for not deploying sufficient security operatives with the requisite training and weaponry to protect the affected communities. The group also criticized the failure to secure Nigeria’s ungoverned spaces, especially in states like Benue, which have witnessed multiple deadly invasions over the years.

“It is heartbreaking that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Commander-in-Chief, and his security chiefs allowed families, including women and toddlers, to be slaughtered and burnt alive in their homes and makeshift shelters. This is a crime against humanity,” the group said, warning that if justice is not served, the global community should step in.

HURIWA called on civil society organisations to begin compiling evidence of atrocities and file petitions at the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands, to seek the prosecution of those in power for failing to protect Nigerian citizens.

The association linked the worsening security situation to what it termed a deliberate failure by the Buhari administration to disarm Fulani militias, which it accused of stockpiling weapons of mass destruction.

HURIWA warned that if the government continues to shield Fulani terrorists and fails to bring perpetrators to justice, the more than 200 ethnic nationalities in Nigeria may resort to arming themselves in self-defence, a development the group said could replicate or even surpass the crisis that engulfed the Central African Republic (CAR).

To give context, HURIWA recalled that the Central African Republic slid into civil war after years of unresolved tensions and armed invasions.

Following the 2003 coup by François Bozizé and subsequent insurgencies by Seleka rebels and anti-Balaka militias, the country descended into sectarian violence that has since killed thousands, displaced millions, and crippled governance.

The association warned that Nigeria could suffer a worse fate if current trends continue unchecked.
HURIWA further cited a disturbing example of what it termed state complicity, pointing to a recent viral video showing Zamfara State government officials and Nigerian Army officers engaging in peace talks with wanted terrorist masterminds.

“This shows clearly that the government is pampering terrorists instead of prosecuting them. When the rest of Nigeria reacts in kind, the consequences will be catastrophic,” the group stated.

Finally, HURIWA demanded that President Tinubu immediately sack and replace his security chiefs and the National Security Adviser with competent professionals who will be given a firm mandate and timeline to root out terrorism and restore security. The group insisted that only a decisive and transparent approach would prevent further bloodshed and protect the unity and stability of the nation.

ComputersRe: Nigerian Company Wants To Monopolize The Internet by absalut: 9:31pm On Jun 20, 2016
Seun:
A Nigerian company known as "Galaxy Backbone Plc Interstella Communications Limited", a licensee for the Internet Exchange Point, is suing the government of Nigeria for not allowing them to monopolize the Internet. They want all the Internet traffic in this country to flow through the so-called Internet Exchange Point and be controlled by them alone:

Source: http://www.technologytimesng.com/post/nsa-intervenes-in-row-over-nigeria-s-internet-exchange-point

This is unbelievable stupid, but if the government is stupid enough to bow to their demand:
- Any time their network is down, the Internet will be unavailable throughout Nigeria.
- Nigeria will be like China with no more free access to information. A big brother nation:
- Any website they block will be blocked throughout the country. E.g. political opponents, competitors, etc.
- The total bandwidth available throughout the country will be the bandwidth available at the exchange.
- In a short time, they can begin to block popular websites unless the owners pay them some money.

It's unbelievably stupid because the whole idea of the Internet is that there is no "exclusive carrier of Internet traffic" except in brutal police states like China and sharia countries. The Internet is designed to be reliable through redundancy. If a router goes down, you can route around it. If your ISP is down, you can go to a cyber-cafe and access the net through a VSAT. Or you can go through a different ISP. If MTN GPRS has problems, you can try Glo. Now imagine all ISPs having to route their US or UK-bound traffic through one Nigerian network. Horrible idea!

As a webmaster whose daily bread depends on the vibrancy of the Nigerian Internet Service Industry, this idea is a really bad nightmare. It means that as a webmaster you can lose all your traffic forever if you have a quarrel with an employee of the Internet Exchange Point. Or if you speak against them in any way. Absolute power corrupts.

One of the beautiful things about the Internet is that nobody is absolutely in control. Because of this, competition is fierce and there is rapid progress. These people are enemies of progress, and they must be stopped. If they want us to use their Internet Exchance Point, let them provide us with a compelling reason to do so. I have been a subscriber of an ISP for several years, and it was not by force. It was because I saw value in them. Thanks a million.
