About android P for note 5. Any news of release date?
Mi max 3 got theirs not quite long, i think they've started a beta for redmi note 5 in China. But redmi note 5 will have pie. If you used to miui, android version doesn't really matter

From the day I moved from using HDD to SSD disk, my life has never remained the same. grin

I now achieve more during the day. Multitasking is a breeze.

Na so e go be when I finally jump from snapdragon 6oo series to the 800 series. grin

Download speed, upload speed, boot up time, opening and switching between apps, web surfing, etc will never remain the same grin
Using an hard disk will be frustrating, getting an ssd was the best investment i did for my system. No more waiting after system boots to desktop grin but pple with hard disk will be like there is no difference at all or its hype.

I don drop my own view, if it's camera, once u root n install gcam Lenovo k5 pro is better, (usb c is bae too) every other thing, redmi note 5 is better

Good day nairalanders, I will go straight to the point. It's been really hard for me choosing between the Xiaomi redmi note 5 and the Lenovo K5 pro. Basically, these 2 phones are mid-range devices and they have alot in common in both the hardware and software departments. Upon reviews and opinions from gsmarena and youtube, it seems the Lenovo k5 pro has better design and display but that's not really an issue to me. The main issue is about the camera. Though, the k5 pro has 16MP+5MP in both rear and front camera while the RN5 has 12MP+5MP rear camera and 13MP front camera, it seems the RN5 takes better photo than the K5 pro. I know it's hard to believe but that's the opinion of most users I read on gsmarena couple with the fact that the RN5 supports GCAM port. I'm not really into picture but it won't hurt to have a device with good camera quality. Now, what I really want to know if anyone can give me an honest opinion about the K5 pro camera, if it can take decent pictures and the quality is not too far from RN5. Your opinions will go a long way in making me decide which to finnaly settle for between the 2 phones.
PS: Both phones is sold for about 55k on aliexpress but the RN5 (colour black is about 61k), I prefer the black colour but I can't really go above d 55k mark.
i used redmi note 5 b4, now I use Lenovo k5 pro. Lenovo's software isn't as good as miui to start with, it got a bit better with the last update. Speaking of update, don't expect Android pie (redmi note 5 will most likely have pie). Now the cameras, both cameras are not too far apart honestly. I rooted my own and installed gcam, the gcam pictures are really visually appealing. Gcam on it also doesn't crash as it does on redmi note 5. If you don't care much about software updates, unlockable bootloader and developers support, you can get the Lenovo k5 pro. I've used xiaomi phones a lot, so my opinion may seem biased, but I'll always advice pple to go for the redmi note 5 instead

When I downgraded from sd835 to sd625, I literally wanted to smash the phone on the floor. Everything felt so damn slow,it took so long before I could "adapt".
grin I know that feeling, i went from a mi 5s plus to a SD625, the 625 had battery advantage but the performance loss was just too much.

sd 835= no match
sd 845= no match
sd 855= god mode

.ps: snappyness in opening apps also depends on software optimization...
..
..but you can compare even 835 to any 6xx or 7xx series .....835 antutu7 use to hit above 210,000 on nokia 8 sef
The gpu in the sd 8xx are no match for those in the new 6xx, I think it's safe to say 2 years old 8xx processor is new 6xx processor with weaker gpus

Boss not all of it is marketing stunts. If your SoC is powerful, it is powerful. You can't compare 835/845 with 675 that's not accurate. Even if is a micro second...fast is fast. Go ahead and watch Gary Sims SoC tests on YouTube and see the difference in speed.
Even the 660 test I was almost falling asleep and it was compared to the 821... Qualcomm know what they are doing.

A colleague of mine tried a test with opening apps on my Mi A1 ans his Infinix Note 3. We were to get an information on the internet. Our phones were off. By the time he was typing the keyword on Chrome, I had already gotten the information, checked pricing on bother Jumia and AliExpress while his own hadn't even finished loading the chrome page. Fast is fast. And this is only the 625, imagine what the 855 can do...
Lol, if you know, you know grin

yes 835 and comparing with 636 it's not night and day. The difference between the 2 is less than 2secs, even micro seconds. On the gpu side, there may be noticeable difference but not for someone like me and most people out there who only use their phones for social networking and surfing, few games etc. Lets stop falling for these marketing stunts
there is difference bro, let's talk storage speed u can't compare ufs in the sd 8** with emmc in sd 636, It's like comparing hard disk to ssd, it's not everything that is marketing. you mentioned social network, scrolling thru post is definitely smoother on the sd8xx series than any 6xx, I really doubt if you used an sd 835 honestly,. Midrange processor has improved lately but mid range will still be midrange and flagships will be at least 40% faster than midranges(40% is not marginal), that's just the way it is,

Those 835/845 series, before you tap the app, fiam dem don open with speed of light. Very very fast.
The last one i used self was a sd821, phone was damn fast, gcam took less dan 3 seconds to process pictures. Gaming was damn smooth on it also. I've used, sd 652, 625, and 636, none of these comes close to the 800 series. A 2 year old 800 series will still hold its own against a new 600 or 700 series, grin

the 675 can handle almost anything thrown at it. Phones these days are fast enough even low end. Will pick 7pro over poco any day any time. That's me anyway
lemme ask you, have you used a snapdragon 8xx device before? If yes, you'll know phones are faster than phones and not all Qualcomm processor are created equal. If I have to make a choice, I'll take the Sd845 over sd675 any time, considering the price self pocophone is like a steal

aside the processor, which in my opinion is just marginally faster, the note 7 pro is the all round winner. From design to camera to price (after stabilisation)
The processor alone is enough reason to consider it(for some pple), it's quite faster than the 675 and the gpu in SD8** series is no match for dos in SD6XX

2.2gb Jesu! Even if I download it, I am not that tech swavy to flash it myself. These sellers just find a way to put a little 'piss' in your "peace of mind" Na who send them message? So it could be that the fake ROM is responsible for the XENDER not working. I can still send and receive files with Mi-drop but I afraid that there might be other complicated issues in future.
I downloaded "BATTERY TESTER" to check my charging capacity only for the app to show the battery capacity at 3300MAh as against the advertised 4050 MAh.
that's because of the rom. the ba3 detection part got fixed like 2 updates ago. You wont get ota with fake rom. Update the xender, if same return the phone if u cant do the flashing. Which location are you?

Ya, it came with playstore. I did not root my phone. send me the link to the original ROM .If I download the ROM, how so I install it? Could it even be that the phone itself is fake? I emailed Jumia with a view to returning it and they said I should within three working days. If I can fix this issue, there won't be any more need to return it.
Thanks in advance.
the phone is not fake, sellers installed fake rom with playstore, hence that warning. You'll need qfil to flash, the rom is about 2.2gb. If u haven't been modding phones before, you can return the phone and get something else, redmi note 5 too is a great alternative and u wont have to worry about rom issues
Technology MarketRe: The Xiaomi Thread Store by acekid109(m): 3:51pm On Mar 18, 2019
jaymichael:
All the checks that need to be checked were checked. The ROM is Chinese like you said with option for English language. Did you order your from Jumia too? XENDER still refuses to work but Mi-drop works perfectly on the phone.
When I switch the phone on, before boot I get a display

"Your device has loaded a different operating system."
''Visit this link on another device:g.co/ABH""
"Press power key to continue"

Do you also get the same display before boot?
I have initiated the process of returning the phone back to Jumia.
I get this message when i rooted mine, if the phone comes with play store, its fake rom. If u have data, i can give u link to the legit rom u can flash. Better still, update your xender. I've encountered issues on xender that got fixed after updates

Please can anyone help me fix this issue? I go a new phone I ordered from Jumia (Lenovo k5 pro) delivered yesterday. I found out the pack, manual, the launcher themes etc are all in Chinese, (making me suspect it is the chinese version that was delivered instead of the global version as advertised)
Whenever I switch the phone on, I get a "YOUR DEVICE HAS LOADED ANOTHER OPERATING SYSTEM" display before booting. The painful part is that XENDER refused to work on the phone. It can't see or be seen by another device. When I want to send, I get "NETWORK FAIL" prompt.
Itbis a snapdragon device and I have sent them an email to return the device but If I can get the XENDER to work, I might not need to return it back.
Can anyone help me resolve the XENDER connection issues?
I use the same phone, xender works fine here, what you have is most likely a fake rom as the official one is chinese (Option for english language is there though), Check all permissions to see escapecially modify system settings

Features like?
gesture navigation is not smooth, i have to use fluid NG. Sometimes screenshot results in error msg but it still takes the screenshot though, phone lags when notifications are much, that's something i never experienced in miui, speakers are a bit distorted at the loudest volume (Don't be deceived by the stereo speakers, RN5 is a winner here), I have to force AptX using magisk (you need this for quality audio using bluetooth, this is something that all oreo devices with a decent processor has, it's missing in zui) the dealbreaker for me is that You can't unlock bootloader and change rom. I have to disable all animations to get a bit more speed from the device. It also kills apps in the background like crazy, my 4gb ram acts like 2gb ram and unfortunately, i cant stop this. D only advantage is type C and the fact that gcam doesnt need patch like that of rn5.
