Culture › Re: Post your photos of Igbo village houses here by achi4u(m): 8:27am On Jan 02, 2014
Without all4naija this thread would've been death by now, so kudos to my man for keeping us busy all this while.
As an Ebonyi man, there are still few mud houses in the hintervillages of my state , but to every one mud house in a compound there MUST be 2to3 modern houses surrounding it...reasons why some of those mud houses can NEVER be touch or pull down is because most of the old papa and mamas preferred it to brick house, they will tell u that this mud house is chilling during the hamattan season.
Their children will build a modern edifice but their parents will prefer to stay at their old huts.

It is even seen as a taboo for a young person to be living in a mud house in the village and be using GSM phone and other modern technology, even ur parents will not be happy with you, they old grad papa will be seeing you as a failure among ur peers.
How can you be traveling to big cities like Lagos, Abuja etc with a good living condition only to come back home with ur club friends to settle in ur old parents mud house? Never, he rather do any odd jobs in order to built a modern house in his fathers compound.
In my own ONUEKE town, hardly will you see some one still living in a mud house, the only widow still living in such house were pulled down by the youth of the village (Onistha branch which contributed money ) and constructed a three rooms brick house within a week just to level that mud.

Have I make myself clear?
happy new year to you bro. Seriously I have nothing against ebonyi people. It's so unfair of me to feel sad that I don't understand ebonyi dialect not minding their frustration that they do not understand mine too! Just felt that as I'm an Imo man, every igbo person should understand what I speak.
I'm from imo, married an anambra girl. One day I poked fun at my best friend (the afikpo lady) saying " see you as beautiful and intelligent u reach, u are from that bush ebonyi" she replied " see u as u intelligent reach u go marry your anambra love. And now she's showing you pepper". All true.
Alright the problem now is our language?
How can we change who we are? how can we change our language to suit you and ur like?
Do you know how many Imo state indigene living in Ebonyi state and do very well in their choosing businesses?
We have owerri town hall, orlu tall, orlu street, owerri street ...in fact ask any of ur people residing in Ebonyi and will tell you to keep quite and travel alot.

Nogodre: The truth is dat somebody from Ebonyi will neva tell u she is from dre rather they claim 2 come from other part of the southeast. Also, they do change dre names to d common igbo names because dre name sounds funny.Ds is so because, other part of d SE look down on them. As for d person sayn they don't travel, they do if not more than those from Enugu but mostly dey engage in menial jobs & 've every xtics of d average northerner( physical & behavioural) due to ds they are bn referred to as the hausa ppl of d east. But in general, dey 're simple and humble but can go wild. NB They are dangerous with d machete.
Happy new year bro/sis...this is 2014 ,if you are 30years last year ,this morning you have added another one year to ur age.
And pray u wont continue this way.
Amen.
My ebonyi people, don't take offence on my comments. I withdraw all of them. You guys are actually very good people. You are never in the lagos-ibadan press axis news because you are good people. Imo has not been in the news too. Only okorocha because he has only been constructing roads on AIT and not on grounds.
All Igbos should please assist imo people on social media to take out okorocha in 2015.
May God bless you and ur families.
Me too I have already withdrew all the unnecessary jargons I throw to u before we enter this new year.
May Good God bless alaigbo and keep us together.
