Afam4eva: I also think that's what is left. I wonder how that will be achieved. I think the business potentials should be tapped.
It can be achieved when the environment is conducive and friendly both in tourism, sports, SMEs,large market both for local and international contents etc but above all,the owners of the land(ie the igbos)should first off start to invest in their territory and by so doing attract foreigners who will help in building up the city.
The government cannot do it alone but they can create enabling environment which Enugu state gov. is trying to do.
When the foreigners and multinational companies get that message with ease to their operations -they will show their face instantly.
What they need is security, good road, airport, drinkable water, electricity, banks...in fact clean environment and the population to do their biz. That's the message

Till then.

Enugu is silently moving to be the best city in nigeria. What remains now in that city is a high rising building to make it look like shanghai in China.

long live Enugu state.

Politics › Re: Is Ebonyi State More Viable Than Anambra And Abia?---IGR by achi4u(m): 11:36pm On Dec 10, 2013
Bros, if don't want to celebrate Ebonyi State, I will !
One thing i love about my Gov. Uduaghan is his Delta without oil development drive. But that discussion is for another day.
I visited Abakaliki in July of 2012 and i was quietly impressed with what i saw there from the last time i was there in 2007.

That state is led by a cerebral old man who knows exactly what sustainable development mean.

While the other so called richest states are still groping in the dark trying to figure out how to use their commercial endowment to create jobs and develop their industrial potential,Ebonyi state is already full steam ahead in modernizing her agricultural endowment and animal husbandry into industrial clusters!
Bet me, with the pace of agricultural development in Ebonyi, it won't be long that it quickly climbs the GDP ladder to become one of Nigeria's richest states. The good thing with Ebonyi state is that their leaders have found their niche! That "comparative advantage" in agriculture, thus they are busy developing their agricultural output, basing their industrial revolution and development mostly on small sized agricultural processing & packaging factories. That is a sure recipe for success!

I celebrate Ebonyi not necessarily for having a robust IGR relative to other neighboring states, but because it is truly on the right track to modernize and industrialize of her agricultural niche ! If the new Anambra governor Obaino is somehow able to develop their oil and commercial endowment to attract investors into it, then they would have found their niche also.
Thank you Warri Pikini for ur good response.
It is not as if i'm not celebrating Ebonyi state and its developmental stride but I merely made that statement to appease some ppl who believe that nothing good can come out of Ebonyi state.
Deep down inside my heart i'm celebrating big time.
But is not yet uhurugrin

Abia get money just that the man on top maybe saving it for future development or for any other reason best known to him.

asha 80: i have always believed because of the settlement pattern in the south east it is not wise to concetrate infrastructure development in one big city or the state capital.ThankGod ebonyi has learnt that with the building of roads and bridges all over to make the inner villages and towns accessible.
With that good access road, many ppl are shuttling btw Afikpo, ohazara,Uburu, Ivo,Onueke etc to Abakaliki on a daily bases to their place of work with cheap transport fare.

Today those things u are rushing to come and obtain at the state capital is already at ur village.
The three basic thing any town, community or state need most is Road, Water and electricity.
Elechi is dealing with only two: road and water. If the state government can finish that water project they embarked on,then Ebonyi can supply water to their neighboring state.

customized13: am glad ebonyi is making it, bt abia data wasn't displayed, I still stand on it dat abia is the most viable in SE, we all knw dat, no need to argue abt it.
you are right. Abia and Anambra state remain the power house when it comes to economic activities no matter what their igr figure says.
Ebonyi is still the poorest state in the east no matter what our igr says, so,no one is celebrating here.
One good thing about the state is their ability to make use of their already designed master plan ...making it to access the city with ease and pleasure.

Truth be told, Ebonyi is not a media state making it to appear as if nothing is happening there. We are happy that any where you want to go in the state you will go withouth any hindrance of any sort because the entire state is connected with good tarred roads.

Still we are still not there yet like other states but we have to be happy with the little we have achieved.

Ugoandy: Ebonyi is even planning to increase it's igr by 2014, and I think it would be achivied;the rate at which the are investing in agriculture is commendiable.one thing about Ebonyi is that the money the generate are used to execute huge projects ,for example:the water project which had been completed by state goverment will supply the state with water, even remote villages will be supplied, this project is second to non in southeast. The state goverment lately, signed a memo with Japaness based industry to set up a huge pipe producing industry in the state, inorder to reduce the cost of supplying water to the whole community in the state.
what amazes me is the rate at which people who had not been to the state before, people who don't know where the state is located ,people who don't even know that the capital of the state is Abakiliki ,say irrational things about the state;things like nothing is happening in ebonyi, the state is just there, guinea worm is still dealing with the state and so on. virtual everybody knows that it has been long the state recorded any case of guinea worm, but some pepole keep on bringing this to the table any time there is issue about ebonyi. All these are being done inorder to make investor not invest in the state. God will keep on blessing Ebonyi.
Thank u my dear.Let the haters keep hating while we move to the next level.
It shall be well with "the salt of the nation "

You all are all wellcom to the "salt of the nation ".
You can only get what you dreamed of ...that's the case of Ebonyi state.

No community in Ebonyi state that you can not get/receive the 4 dominant network from as i'm typing this message.
The entire state were been connected with good network of roads.

The donkey meat someone mentioned earlier was a joke because only a fragment of a few villagers are still eating it.

Ebonyi state is very peaceful and the people are not hustle to corppers and other foreigners.

May God grant all of you journey mercies. Amen.

@Op what exactly are you looking for cos this igr thing has been discuss over and over again in this section of the forum.

Somebody has answer this question at the other thread that some states under quote their igr inorder to attract foreign aid, though I don't know how TRUE this can be.

Anambra and Abia state are the 2 top states in terms of economic activities in SE.
Only papa God knows what went wrong.
Properties › Re: BBC Replies - "Ever Seen A Well-Built African House On BBC?" by achi4u(m): 11:50pm On Dec 08, 2013
There are so many problems with Africa if we are to be truly honest with ourselves but I understand what the OP is trying to put across. He thinks BBC's report on Africa is biased but here are my thoughts

1) News generally are meant to be shocking, saddening and pitiful. If you go to BBC or CNN website and read the local news, the news that mainly make headlines are deaths, catastrophes, scandals, etc. This is because as a society, we naturally crave for something shocking, hence why it is fed to us. This therefore means that coverage of positive things across Africa would most likely be shunned, not because of bias but because of human's nature to desire news that are pitiful and shocking.

2) If we think mainstream News broadcasters are not doing enough, we also can be journalists ourselves and enlighten the masses through all forms of media provided by the internet. Nowadays, people ( esp the young) mostly get their news feeds online, so Africans posting positive stories about their continent will go along way to change general bias about Africa. We shouldn't let other people report our stories for us.

3) Finally, if your western friends ask you if there are houses, planes and cars in Africa, just be sarcastic and informative about your reply.. Tell them you swarm Atlantic Ocean to be in USA, and that the swim was treacherous. lol Tell them you live in huts, hence all the snake bites they could see all over your body. grin grin grin .
Thank you brother. I like ur last two answers to the whitegrin

Culture › Re: What Is Wrong With The ''village''? by achi4u(m): 2:53am On Dec 06, 2013
What brings about those evil and witch craft manipulations in the villages and even towns is enviousness and laziness.

@op this is how it get started: How can Okeke's boy of 20 to 30 years of age will be doing well in his chosen field while my own son after doing all I can to elevate him remain a loafer or a very poor boy with no ambition ? ...this and many more are the kind of questions that makes some people to turn to evil doers.

We can only thank God for earlier christianity and missionaries(not this wayo type we are practicing today) which has taught about moral decadence and some how putting fear of enteral damnations to the mind of general public, still evil abound everywhere.

If you really want to survive their evil mechanization, pretend that they never exist and you are not for them and they are not for you.
"ihe onye amaro anaghi ama ya"-what you don't know will never know you.

Again, you cannever serve two masters at a time,is either u are in or out.
