Politics › Re: US Court Affirms Chinese Firm’s $70m Arbitration Award Against Nigeria by Achoghim: 8:36am On Aug 16, 2024 |
Jonathan left office in 2015, right? The news says the FTZ agreement between Ogun state and the Chinese company was abruptly terminated in 2016, that is under Buhari. That means everything was going well until the APC government came onboard. Did they give any cogent reason for terminating the contract? Weren't they aware of the potential penalties? I guess they wanted to use it for political patronage but it is now backfiring. Even if the agreement was faulty, who was the governor that signed it? It's OGD, who is currently an APC senator. SmartyPants: Hypocrite. This is entirely on the past government of Ogun state and if you must extend the blame to the federal level then it must go to Jonathan's fantastically corrupt government. |

This is the abuse and waste that characterize public service in Nigeria. These people clearly aren't useful in any way, yet they receive salaries and other benefits. I can't imagine a private enterprise that will continue to pay salaries years after shutting down its operations. |

Mind your business and let the man do his thing, he is a private citizen fgs. How are you sure that he is not a family friend of the Okoyes, after all they are all from Anambra state, where Obi once held sway as the governor. You guys were asking if Psquare didn't have elders that can resolve their issues, now someone has stepped out to help, una dn dey foam for mouth cos it is the man you love to hate. Ndi uchu! madjune: Peter Obi has shown he's not busy at all. I used to support him but atimes I question his value system and the sort of things he grants audience to.
This is one of them.
Any neuro-typical young man knows that these two men called Peter and Paul and half educated fools. How many times will they fight and make up? Their late Mom couldn't reconcile them, their village heads couldn't, their producers couldn't, the whole of the Nigerian youth wept and tried and also failed...time and time again that the fought.
And, Peter Obi wasn't paying attention through the years?
I really think Peter Obi isn't busy.

Obi is the founder, chairman and CEO of Next international Limited. He's a business manager and not a political jobber, like your mentors. 9jatriot: I have heard some folks say Reino does not have a job that is why he always has time to be attacking Obi but the guy here that wanted to be president, I am not sure what to say about his job status either because he seems to only attend parties and major in minor issues.
How many family members wen de quarrel he go fit visit? There are many families where siblings do not see eye to eye, is he now going to request for a list of them and start visiting all of them?
If this guy had somehow managed to be president, he would have spent more time trying to keep up appearances than actually facing real issues. |

It's statutory rape, which means he had "consented sex" with a girl that is still legally a minor. It's not the kind of violence laced rape that we are familiar with. But a rape is still a rape, I only explained so people will understand why they were lenient with him in terms of prison term. A 20 year old having sex with a 12 year old isn't right |

I can give you a long list of American presidents who lost their re-election bid and came back later to contest. Martin Van Buren, Theodore Roosevelt, Grover Cleveland and Herbert Hoover. One of them (Grover Cleveland) won on his second attempt, there by serving two non consecutive terms. Let's be factual when talking in a public forum, except your intention is to deceive your audience. gabbasin: not even desperate to be president? A man who lost an election and still want to hold tight to office. It seems to you desperation has another meaning. I've never heard of an American president who lost his 2nd term bid and came back to contest again for the office. Carter, Bush Snr, didn't come back for another term after losing as incumbent |

What’s really going on in Unizik? The acting VC was sacked and quickly replaced a few days ago, and now, the SUG president too. By the way, the truth is, Noble Eyisi remains the last real SUG president that Unizik had. The then VC, Prof Joseph Eberendu Ahaneku, allegedly orchestrated his impeachment because he (Eyisi) questioned him on the use of revenue generated from acceptance fees. Unizik’s SUG is just an appendage of the student’s affairs department and a toy of the VC. |

Ignorance is indeed a disease. Under the 1999 constitution of FRN, the National Assembly is the "state house of assembly" of the FCT, while the President and VP are the governor and deputy governor respectively. The FCT minister is just using delegated authority (just like every other minister). So the motion of Sen. Kingibe is not out of place. teadrake: Can you just imagine?? Must they kill the FG? Local Government should not to tied to the apron spring of the governors. We've seen how rogue governors like Peter Obi ruled for 8 years without conducting local government election. Any one that is against this judgement is an enemy of Nigeria.

I agree that periodic medical checkups are very important but I must add that, they won’t matter when a person’s time is up. I lost an uncle to cardiac arrest last April and the irony is that he exercised very well, took medical care really serious and also ate very select foods. I think we all have expiry dates and once it is way past your time, then you must leave. Fire4fireNL: More reason why we need to take our health serious. Nigerians only go to the doctor when they are really sick or at the point of death. We can avoid a lot of chronic disease with just one annual wellness visit, or even once every two years. That way, things can be detected early and promptly treated. This saves money and life down the line.
RIP to the man. It's so painful to lose a love one like this... just imagine this man left home this morning, healthy and sound. Now they have to inform the family that he's no more... so sad. |

Does a court have the power to stop the state house of assembly from performing its core constitutional duty, which is lawmaking? Except a law violates a section of the constitution (which is not the case in Kano state), can the court stop its implementation? The Kano state house of assembly made the law same they repealed, so what is the fuss about? Does the FHC even have the jurisdiction to dabble into chieftaincy affairs, which is a matter left exclusively to the state governments by the constitution? |
