Former Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has become part owner of Swedish club Hammarby.



Ibrahimovic posted a picture of a Hammarby shirt to his Instagram account on Tuesday.


It is understood that the owners of LA Galaxy, Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), confirmed they have sold half of their stake in Hammarby to the former Sweden international days ago.

"Hammarby is a fantastic club with passionate supporters and has great respect in both Stockholm and Sweden," Ibrahimovic told the club's website.

"I have always liked the club and the fans, since then I am impressed with what the club has done in recent years, both on and off the pitch.

"Being able to join and develop Hammarby forward feels both fun and exciting."

Hammarby chairman Richard von Yxkull added: "This is still new to us, but of course very exciting.


"Spontaneously the timing feels good, we have had a strong development in recent years and next year we play in Europe.

"To then get a person like Zlatan Ibrahimović into the club, with the passion and winning mentality he stands for feels right.

"It is too early to say anything in detail about how Zlatan can contribute to Hammarby Football, but there is clearly very great potential in the collaboration."

It has been learnt that Ibrahimovic remains a free agent following his departure from LA Galaxy at the end of the MLS season.

The former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain forward has been linked with a number of European clubs, especially a return to Italy to play for Napoli, AC Milan and Bologna.

Recall that Tottenham head coach Jose Mourinho has ruled out signing the 38-year-old. There were reports earlier that Ibrahimovic was set for a reunion with his former manager, who played under him at Manchester United and Inter Milan.

Nigeria midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is happy to have made his 100th Premier League appearance for Leicester City in Saturday’s 2-0 away win against Brighton & Hove Albion at the AMEX Stadium.

Ndidi joined the exclusive list of Nigerian players who have featured in 100 games in the English top flight by playing from start to finish for Leicester City against the Seagulls.

The 22-year-old has scored six league goals for the Foxes since his arrival at the club from Belgian outfit, KRC Genk.

Nigerian duo Wilfred Ndidi and Victor Osimhen has joined the Confederation of African Football, CAF, shortlist for Best player in Africa.

It has been learnt that the 28th edition of its annual football awards which will take place on Tuesday, 7 January 2020, at Citadel Azure, Hurghada, Egypt.

Sierra Leone striker, Mohamed Buya Turay, claimed the leg injury that forced him to miss the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying defeat by Benin last Sunday was caused by “juju” (black magic).



The 24-year-old plays for Djurgården in Sweden, he helped his club side, Djurgården, win the Swedish league this month and finished as the division’s top scorer.



It was learnt that he missed out against Benin. This comes after he sustained the injury during their 1-1 home draw to Lesotho

"I had no toe injury when I played against Lesotho because no one stepped on me or kicked me.



"But I started feeling pain on my toe when I returned to the hotel where the team were camped the following day."



"I informed the team's physiotherapist who couldn't figure out what was wrong, and the pain got heavier when we were on the bus heading for the training ground.



"The pain got worsened when we arrived at the training ground, it extended to the whole foot and leg and I then decided to call some of my family members who took me to a woman native doctor.



"The native doctor told me that the cause of toe injury was because I stepped on a spiritual object in Leone Stars camp, put there for me by a person who wanted me to get elephantiasis thereby destroying my career.



"She further told me that if I had gone to the hospital for treatment or had used conventional medicine to try and heal the toe that would have ended my career."



In a social media post, Buyi alleged that the perpetrator was motivated by jealousy at his Golden Boot victory. “That’s what created the tension, hatred, and jealousy,” he wrote on Facebook. “I love my country, but how can y’all conieve to make my life miserable? Is it a crime for me to put my countries flag on the map?”



"I believe all what I have been told, I have heard before about things like these happening in the Leone Stars camp. Now I have seen it for my self," he continued.



"I don't want to reveal the identity of the person now but I promise to fight back, he'll not go scot free."

Former undisputed world welterweight boxing champion, Floyd Mayweather, has been showing his fondness for Ghana in recent times.




On Wednesday, November 20, Mayweather shared a new photo in which he had a scarf partly made of a Ghana flag and the United States flag.

The photo of Mayweather flaunting the Ghana flag went viral on social media as it sparked talks of the American boxing great visiting the country.

Sharing the photo, Mayweather had urged fans to “zoom in” which Legit.ng has done and realized that he was drawing attention to the flag being a designer made.

Mayweather’s flag was no ordinary scarf but an LV Flags Fur Scarf, a brightly coloured piece of fashion accessory from Louis Vuitton.

It has been gathered that the LV Flags Fur Scarf sells for $13,900 for a mini version which is 35 x 165 cm (Length x Height).

Ross Barkley is facing further questions over his professionalism after he was videoed dancing topless and seemingly the worse for wear in a Dubai nightclub during last week's international break.

Argentine side Gimnasia LP have confirmed that Napoli icon Diego Maradona is “no longer” their coach.


It had been reported that Maradona would quit Gimnasia if President Gabriel Pellegrino did not stand for re-election, and that has now proven to be the case.

“Maradona is no longer Gimnasia’s coach,” the outgoing patron told Fox Sports Argentina.

“[Reserve-team coach Mariano] Messera will manage the team against Arsenal [Sarandi].”

It has been learnt that top two in each of the 10 Euro 2020 qualifying groups automatically advance to the tournament, making for 20 participants.

Meanwhile, 20 teams who qualify for the competition by finishing in the top two of the 10 groups, four teams will qualify via the play-offs.



Total of 16 teams will participate in the play-offs based on their Nations League group finals.



Four play-off routes are involved, with four teams allocated to each route.

The19 countries include the following- Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and Ukraine - have already secured their places automatically and will not need to participate in the play-offs.

The play-offs will take place on March 26 & 31 2020.

The draw will take place Friday November 22 in Bucharest, Romania. It will begin at 12pm CET (11am GMT / 6am ET).

AFCON Qualifiers: Vincent Enyeama Joins Super Eagles In Training

He has not played for the country since 2015, but Enyeama paid the Super Eagles a surprise visit at their training ground on Thursday.

The Super Eagles are gearing up for the AFCON 2021 qualifier clash against Lesotho after beating Benin in their opening Group L encounter on Wednesday.

The team was put through a light training on Thursday at the Le Meriden Hotel in Akwa Ibom. However, it was not a normal training day as former Super Eagles captain was seen with the goalkeepers in camp.

The former Lille goalkeeper last played for the National team in 2015 but was in high spirits with other goalkeepers on Thursday.

It is yet to be known if Enyeama was just in town to pay the team a visit or he is training with the team to keep fit after being released by Lille.

Cup holders, Nigeria have crashed out of the ongoing U23 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt following a dire 0-0 draw with South Africa on Friday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the draw on the night was not enough to see the Eagles through to the semi-finals.

The result meant they finished third in Group B and dropped out of contention for a place in the Men’s Football Tournament of next year’s Olympics in Tokyo.

Failure at the Al-Salam Stadium in Cairo sustained an unsavoury streak of Nigeria appearing in the Men’s Football Tournament at every other Olympics since the year 2000.

Champions in 1996 in Atlanta, USA where they won Africa’s first-ever football gold medal of the Olympics, the Nigeria U23 participated in the tournament in Australia in 2000, but missed the event in Greece in 2004.

They then took part at the event in China in 2008 and won the silver medal; missed the tournament in the United Kingdom in 2012; participated in the event in Brazil in 2016 and won the bronze medal and; will now miss Tokyo 2020.

On a day they needed just one goal to topple the South Africans and assure of a place in the last four – irrespective of the result in the other match between Cote d’Ivoire and Zambia – the Olympic Eagles failed to find their sting in the fore.

The Eagles held on too much on the ball without effective contact or meaningful touches in the opposition critical zone.

Awed by Nigeria’s array of stars in Kelechi Nwakali, Taiwo Awoniyi, Azubuike Okechukwu, Sincere Seth and Orji Okwonkwo, alongside respected home-based professionals Sunusi Ibrahim and Ndifreke Effiong, the South Africans preferred to absorb the heat for the first half-hour.

Seeing that the Olympic Eagles lacked the punch when it mattered, the Amaglug-glug came out to attack. And thrice they came close to putting the ball in the net but met with the alertness and agility of goalkeeper Adamu Abubakar.

Abubakar also saved the Olympic Eagles in the second half, as the South Africans fired from every angle, while Nigeria were looking to walk the ball into the net and stubbornly stuck to an ineffective strategy of trying to make hay from the wings.

President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick was quoted as saying that the failure of the Olympic Eagles was a shock.

“Working together with the Ministry of Sports, we have been able to provide the team with what is required for them to excel.

“The team’s failure to reach the semi-finals and ultimately qualify for the Olympics is a big shock.

“Three years ago, football won the only medal that Nigeria took from the Olympics in Brazil.

“Our expectation was that this team would qualify for Tokyo and go there to do the country proud,” he said.

Rashford's Manchester United report card from age ten has gone viral on social media - with the young star admitting he needs to "practise every day".


The now-England striker filled in his answers to questions such as where his strengths are, how he can get better and who the best Under-11 player is.

Dated September 2007, eight-and-a-half years before his Man Utd debut in February 2016, Rashford wrote that his favourite position is "right wing and up front".

Asked what his strengths are, he put down: "My strengths are my pace and skill."

Quizzed on where he needs to get better, Rashford, now 22, wrote: "I need to improve on my left foot."

Some fans might say he does not need to bother after his outrageous free-kick goal against Chelsea last month - that would suggest his right foot is so good!

Tammy Abraham took to his social Media space to express his joy over his first goal for England.


The Chelsea forward got on the score sheet in the 7-0 thumping of Montenegro on Thursday night.

England sealed their qualification for the Euros 2020 as Harry Kane got an hat trick.


Liverpool's star Oxlade Chamberlain was also on target as Abraham came on from the bench to add the seventh.

Super Eagles forward, Samuel Chukwueze, has expressed his desire to ply his trade in the English Premier League.

Chukwueze, who plays for La Liga side, Villarreal, however said his move to the EPL will be based on assurances of first team football.

“My ambition is to play in the Premier League, but I want to go to a club where I’m really wanted, where I will be a starting player. Both the coach and club owner must show desire to sign me,” he told Fast Track.

The forward has reportedly been on the radar of EPL leaders, Liverpool, with coach Jurgen Klopp desperate to add him to his attack.

According to Don Balon, Klopp is a big admirer of Chukwueze, who he thinks could be the next Sadio Mane at Anfield.

Megoalsport reported in October that Liverpool are ready to make a January move for the 20-year-old.

Villarreal have already increased Chukwueze’s release clause, to scare away potential buyers.

According to Spanish media outlet AS, the Yellow Submarines tied him down to a €100m release clause.

Reports say the €100m release clause will be in place for the next two years, before dropping to €80m in the third year, which would allow the player to move for less and reward his loyalty.

Chukwueze has been in good form for Villarreal this season, scoring two goals and creating two assists in 12 appearances.

He was included the 50-man shortlist for the 2019 Golden Boy Awards, before missing out in the 20-man list released last month.

He was however nominated in the 10 players for the 2019 Kopa Trophy award, organised by France Football.”

The 32-year-old played five games in the Belgian second-tier league without scoring a goal

Belgian First Division B club Westerlo have released Emmanuel Emenike, just two months after he joined the club as a free agent in September.

Two months ago, the former Fenerbahce and West Ham United striker joined Bob Peeters' side with the ambition of helping them secure promotion to the top-flight after having a successful trial.

According to the club statement, Emenike did not reach the expected level of performance after managing just one start in five league games with no goal to his credit.

His short-term contract was to expire at the end of the season but both parties agreed on its termination on Thursday.

"Emmanuel Emenike and KVC Westerlo have decided in mutual agreement to end their collaboration. Despite the many efforts made by both parties in the best understanding, the player could not be brought to the level that both parties had intended," the statement read.

"In those circumstances, it was appropriate to end the agreement with a good feeling. KVC Westerlo wants to thank Emmanuel for choosing and trusting the club and the player wishes to thank the club for the opportunity he was granted."

Prior to his move to Belgium, the former Nigeria international did not play football in the entire 2018-19 season after suffering an injury last year during his loan spell in the Spanish La Liga with Las Palmas.

Arsene Wenger has been unveiled today as FIFA’s new Chief of Global Football Development. The illustrious French manager was welcomed by FIFA President Gianni Infantino to the world football governing body’s headquarters in Zurich.

Wenger will be chiefly responsible for overseeing and driving the growth and development of the sport for both men and women around the world.

He will also be the leading authority on technical matters, both as a member of the Football and Technical Advisory Panels involved in The IFAB’s review and decision-making process on potential changes to the Laws of the Game, and as chairman of the FIFA Technical Study Group, which has conducted the technical analysis of FIFA tournaments since 1966.

Wenger said: "I very much look forward to taking on this extremely important challenge, not only because I have always been interested in analysing football from a broader perspective but also because FIFA’s mission as world football’s governing body is truly global.

Mario Balotelli was racially abused by Hellas Verona fans on Sunday, and Serie A has punished the club with a partial stadium closure.


Serie A has confirmed a one-match partial stadium closure for Hellas Verona after supporters racially abused Brescia's Mario Balotelli, while the club have banned their head ultra for 11 years after defending the discriminatory chants.

Balotelli kicked the ball into the stands and threatened to walk off the pitch in the second half of his side's 2-1 defeat at Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi on Sunday after hearing monkey chants.

Serie A's disciplinary commission on Tuesday confirmed the closure of the Poltrone Est stand by way of punishment, opting against more severe sanctions because the chants only came from that sector.

The confirmation of the punishment came shortly after Verona released a statement condemning Castellini's comments and barring him from attending matches until June 30, 2030 for "expressions seriously contrary to those that distinguish the ethical principles and values of our club".

LAFC forward Carlos Vela has been voted MLS MVP, beating city rival Zlatan Ibrahimovic.


The honor caps off an outstanding season for Vela, who broke single-season records for goals with 34 as well as combined goals and assists with 49. Vela had 14 goals and 13 assists in 2018, his first in MLS after arriving from La Liga side Real Sociedad.

His production -- he scored in 25 of his 31 appearances -- helped LAFC claim the Supporters' Shield with a league-record 72 points, though the Black and Gold fell short of their ultimate goal, losing in the Western Conference finals to the Seattle Sounders 3-1.


Vela easily outdistanced the competition, garnering 69% of the vote over runner-up Zlatan Ibrahimovic of the LA Galaxy.

Ibrahimovic enjoyed a spectacular season of his own with 30 regular-season goals, but garnered just 14% of the vote. Atlanta United's Josef Martinez, the 2018 MVP, was third.
