Chelsea defender, Fikayo Tomori, remains eligible to feature for Nigeria.

Tomori was overlooked for England’s two Euro 2020 qualifying matches against the Czech Republic and Bulgaria.

Although he was invited alongside club mate, Tammy Abraham, the defender was an unused substitute in both games.

Tomori would have become cap-tied like Abraham, if he had been summoned from the bench.

However, Southgate opted for Mason Mount, Jadon Sancho and Callum Wilson, as England thrashed Bulgaria 6-0 on Monday night.

At the moment, Tomori is well behind the trio of Tyrone Mings, Harry Maguire and Michael Keane in Southgate’s pecking order of central defenders.

He is also eligible to feature for Canada, the country of his birth.

The president of the Bulgaria Football Union, Borislav Mihailov, has resigned.


It follows Bulgaria Prime Minister Boyko Borissov calling for him to quit on Tuesday after the racist abuse of England players by home fans in Sofia.

The Euro 2020 qualifier, which England won 6-0, was stopped twice because of racist behavior, which included Nazi salutes and monkey chants.

The BFU said the move "is a consequence of the recent tensions" but did not mention racism in their statement.

The 20-man shortlist for the Golden Boy 2019 Award has been announced, including Joao Felix, Matthijs de Ligt, Ansu Fati and Vinicius.


A large international panel votes for the player aged under 21 who is most likely to make his mark in the coming campaign.

It was won by Ajax defender De Ligt last year, before he reached the Champions League semi-final and then completed a transfer to Juventus.

Real Madrid Basketball team have announced the signing of African star Salah Mejri. The Tunisian star returned to the European champions after leaving the club in 2015 for Dallas Mavericks.

The club released an official statement on their website to announce the deal.

“Real Madrid C. F. has reached an agreement with Liaoning Flying Leopards center, Salah Mejri. The deal ties the player to the club until the end of the current season,” the club stated.

“Salah Mejri (15 June 1986, Jendouba, Tunisia) is back at Real Madrid, where he previously spent a spell between 2013 and 2015 before making the move to the NBA, where he turned out for the Dallas Mavericks. Brazilian star, Neymar has revealed his expectations ahead of his side’s international friendly matches against Senegal and Nigeria at the Singapore National Stadium.

Brazil will take on Senegal on October 10 and Nigeria three days later but the Paris Saint-Germain star has now pointed out the importance of scoring more goals against the Super Eagles and the Teranga Lions.

According to the 27-year-old, Singapore will give him luck again to score for the Selecao against the West African countries.

The 2019 FIFA Men's Best player of the year, Lionel Messi, in a wide ranging interview has revealed he wished his rival, Cristiano Ronaldo didn't leave Real Madrid, as his presence at the club added more spice to the El Classico derby and La Liga.



Messi, who has been at Barcelona since the age of 12 has seen his rivalry with Cristiano Ronaldo very well pronounced in the last decade, but Ronaldo in the summer of 2018, left Real Madrid to join Juventus after winning the UEFA Champions League four times with the Spanish club.




But Messi insists Real Madrid will still remain a big club even though they miss Ronaldo.

Super Eagles winger, Henry Onyekuru, took a two hours, 11 minutes flight from Monaco to Istanbul for a haircut, it has been revealed.

The former Everton player, who completed a £12.5m deal to AS Monaco this season, arrived Istanbul recently for the haircut with popular Nigerian celebrity barber, Mukaila Ajanaku.

Ajanaku, a renowned hair-stylist in Europe has A-list footballers like Florentin Pogba, Manchester United’s Paul Pogba’s brother, former Arsenal star, Emmanuel Adebayor, Gael Clichy, ex-Real and AC Milan star, Robinho and Kenneth Omeruo on his clientele list.

“Onyekuru flew in from Monaco just to get a haircut from me. I’m not surprise at all because I have been his stylist since his days at Galatasaray on a loan deal last season.

He continued, “Onyekuru believes in my haircut, I am good at what I do and make sure I tend to my clients’ demands.

“If I wasn’t doing a good job I don’t think the likes of Adebayor, Pogba’s brother (Florentin), Dutch winger Eljero Elia, former City defender, Gael Clichy, just to mention a few, will come to my salon,” he told Sports Extra.

Liverpool and Egyptian striker, Mohamed Salah was crowned GQ Middle East Man of The Year at the first-ever GQ Middle East Men of the Year Awards which took place at Louvre Abu Dhabi this week.



The football star was recognised alongside international actor Mena Massoud. Salah won the overall award for Man of the Year and Massoud won the award for Breakthrough Talent.

Former goalkeeper Petr Cech has made a shock change of sport after signing for ice hockey club Guildford Pheonix until the end of the season.


The former Arsenal and Chelsea goalkeeper will be playing as a netminder for the Surrey-based club for the campaign and admitted he is delighted to make the switch to a new sport.

He said: 'I am delighted to have the opportunity to play with the Pheonix to get the match experience.

RFEF confirm that Dembele will be penalized for two matches against Eibar and Real Madrid.

The much- anticipated international friendly match between Nigeria and Brazil in Singapore on October 13th may be called off at the last minute unless the organisers are able to sort out the travelling arrangement of the Nigerian delegation.

Our correspondent learnt on good authority that the Nigeria Football Federation’s delegation expected to travel on Tuesday, failed to get necessary travelling documents, including visas.

This may put the match in jeopardy.

Chelsea star, Fikayo Tomori has admitted it was difficult for him to say no to England when he was called for the Euro 2020 qualifiers in the Czech Republic and Bulgaria taking place this month.



The 21-year-old was born in Calgary, Canada, to Nigerian parents but raised in England. He was eligible to represent the senior national teams of the three countries but decided to pick England, a decision he said was a difficult one.



Speaking on the situation, Tomori, who was called alongside Tammy Abraham, who also was eligible to represent Nigeria, said: “England is such a big nation, as well as Nigeria and Canada, so I think I was going to be happy with whoever called me up – but it’s nice it is England,” Tomori said.



“It wasn’t England all the way. I had certain people and certain things that I had to consider. I spoke to my family and people that I care about it and that’s the decision I came to. So, when England came calling, it was difficult to say no.



“It was just more of a thing I was waiting for a call-up because the last international break I didn’t get a call-up from anyone. This international break, I was waiting for a call-up and England called me up.



“It’s been a good week. Nice to get the England call-up, but winning in Lille and today, it’s been a good week. The manager (Lampard) told me in the changing room after the Lille game (about his England call-up) so I knew a day before and I had to keep it a secret.



“I told my family and then it got announced on Thursday. Not at all [did I see it coming]. The manager told me and I was like ‘oh’. It was a nice feeling. I’d say so [that it came quicker than I expected].



“Last season, I wasn’t expecting to be there but I never really put a limit on saying I couldn’t do it. It was just more a case of I’ve got to give my best for my club and wherever I was going to be playing week in, week out and try to get in the squad wherever I was. It is obviously good I am here and now, to be in the England squad, it’s a mad turnaround for myself.”

Bastian Schweinsteiger has called time on his illustrious football career that has seen him play for German giants Bayern Munich, English giants Manchester United, the German national team and Chicago Bulls FC.



Schweinsteiger, who won 20 trophies during his career including the FIFA world cup and is married to tennis star, Ana Ivanovic, took to his Instagram page to make the announcement after two seasons in the American league.

Victor Valdes has been sacked as Barcelona Under-19s coach after a bust-up with former team-mate and La Masia director, Patrick Kluivert.'



The 37-year-old Spaniard who made over 500 appearances for the club, was appointed the youth team coach in July, while Kluivert took over as head of La Masia academy but the pair endured a bitter relationship.



Valdes' departure was confirmed by on Monday afternoon (Oct. 7).



A Barca statement read: 'FC Barcelona have informed Víctor Valdés on Monday that he is no longer U19A coach and no longer employed by the Club. Franc Artiga, up till now coach of the U19B and part of the youth set up at La Masia since 2010, will take over as coach of the U19A.'

Former English defender Anton Ferdinand has paid tribute to late Nigerian striker Isaac Promise who died on Wednesday.

Ferdinand and Promise shared the same locker room and hotel room during to their time with Turkish side Antalyaspor.


Former Nigeria striker Isaac Promise died at the age of 31, his , American club Austin Bold said, but failed to revealed the cause.

Promise was the captain of Nigerian U-20 side that had John Mikel Obi, Chinedu Obasi and Taye Taiwo.

The team got to the final of 2005 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Netherlands, but they lost to Lionel Messi’s Argentina.

Promise also led the Nigerian U-23 side 2008 Beijing Olympics games , where they lost to Argentina again.

Former Super Eagles defender, Taribo West, has claimed he was sent packing from AC Milan by ‘The Mafia’.

West joined The Rossoneri from city rivals Inter Milan in December 1999.

With her eyes swollen in tears, Beauty Uguoere Siasia, the mother of a former Super Eagles skipper and coach, Samson Siasia broke down and cried.

“I dont know why they keep kidnapping me. Only God knows,” the 80-year-old woman sobbed as tears dripped down her wrinkled face.

Mama, as she is fondly called, lamented that she had been kidnapped twice saying that her abductors on the two occasions told her that her son, Siasia is a millionaire.

She said after whisking her away to an unknown place, her assailants fed her with garri and bought drugs for her.

Saying that they took care of her, the traumatised woman said there was no time they beat her, adding that sometimes the abductors prepared soup for everybody in their camp.

Narrating the latest incident, she said: I was at my house when they came to kidnap me. They took me to the place. They took care of me.

“I was sick and they bought the drugs. They cooked and gave to me.

“They didn’t beat me. There were days that there was no food. Those days they drank garri and gave me garri to drink too.

“Sometimes, they cooked soup, prepare garri and we ate.

“But on Sunday, they told me we had stayed for too long and they were tired of our problem.

“They carried us on a flying boat and dropped us in a village. I dont know the name of the village.

“The carried us to their chairman place. I don’t even know the man. They called Seifa and Seifa came.

Also one of the victims, who was abducted when he took some undisclosed amount of money to the kidnappers, said on getting to where they directed him, the gunmen surrounded his boat, blindfolded him and took him away.

Relieving his ordeal, he said: “Where they kept us was very bad. I didn’t see anything there and I didn’t recognise anybody because before I got to the place, they blindfolded me.

“But the place was rough. We slept on benches. There was no foam. At times, they fed us with garri and beans.

“We used oil to eat garri. Sometimes, they cooked yellow soup and any how they cooked it you will eat because you want to live.

“I was in a critical condition. They were fond of beating me maybe because I am a man.

‘They would beat me morning, afternoon and night. They would tie me before I sleep.

“Even if mosquitoes were biting me, I couldn’t chase them away. They kept four people to guide me. I suffered a lot”.

Mario Balotelli scored his first goal for new club Brescia on Sunday, but his actions caught the attention even before kick-off the match against Napoli.

The former Inter Milan, Manchester City and Liverpool striker strode out on to the pitch at the Stadio San Paolo carrying a young mascot who was wearing a full Napoli kit.

Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala scored a brace in Barcelona Ladies 6-1 thrashing of Atletico Madrid in their Liga Iberdrola clash on Saturday.

Oshoala ended her four-match goal drought in the league following the two goals she scored in the game.

The 24-year-old scored the home team fourth goal on the stroke of half-time.

She grabbed her second goal of the game, two minutes after the break.

The Nigeria Football Federation is delighted to announce it has agreed a multi-year partnership with top Italian football club, AS Roma,

The partnership, which was unveiled on Friday in Abuja, will see the NFF and Roma collaborate together on and off the pitch, with one long term objective being for the club to help further grow and improve all levels of football in Nigeria.

Under the terms of the understanding , the two parties will share football, business and media expertise, with Roma offering the NFF technical and operational support and advice in the areas of youth coaching, player development, football administration and digital media best practices.

In return, the NFF will also collaborate with the AS Roma in their projects and development Initiatives in Nigeria.

In the coming months, senior NFF officials will travel to the Italian capital to observe Roma’s award-winning youth academy. As technical advisors in player development, Roma will work with the NFF to help introduce best practices for developing elite talent in order to improve the quality of players available to our domestic clubs and indeed national squad at all age groups.

Roma will also host knowledge-sharing sessions on football business and administration in Rome and set up digital and social media workshops in Nigeria for local clubs and officials.

On hand at the unveiling ceremony were NFF President AmajuPinnick and his Vice Presidents Seyi Akinwunmi and Shehu Dikko alongside the entire Board members of the NFF. ASRoma’s Head of Academy, Massimo Tarantino and Paul Rogers, Head of Strategy at Roma. The Nigerian Minister of Youth and Sport Mr. Sunday Dare and the Permanent Secretary Of the the Ministry Mr. O Olusade were on hand to also endorses the partnership.“We are excited about this unique partnership with AS Roma,” said NFF President Amaju Pinnick. “We have put in a lot of work to move our federation into a globally recognized space in-spite of the avoidable distractions and the fact that Roma chose to partner with Nigeria over any other federation in Africa is an indicator of how much respect our brand and this country has in the world of international football. In the Juventus star's interview with the ITV presenter, it was revealed he used to wait outside a McDonald's restaurant because he was too poor to buy burgers for himself while a kid in Sporting Lisbon's academy.

Coming to his aid were a group of women who handed out food to Ronaldo and his hungry friends, and he recalled the name 'Edna' for one of them.

The man himself has been unable to track her down but Morgan's interview may have set that it motion.

UEFA is set to confirm Wembley Stadium as the host venue for the 2023 Champions League final next week, Sky Sports News understands.

The organisation’s president Aleksander Cerefin will also confirm that St Petersburg and Munich will be the venues for the finals in 2021 and 2022 respectively at UEFA’s ExCo meeting in Ljubljana next Tuesday.

European football’s governing body has previously only announced one venue each year but it is now keen to allow for longer-term planning.

Zenit St Petersburg’s Krestovsky Stadium holds 68,000, while Munich’s Allianz Arena holds 75,000.

Wembley 2023 will mark the centenary year of the opening of the original twin-towered Empire stadium in 1923, and it will be the eighth time Wembley has hosted the European final.

The 90,000-capacity arena last staged the final of the largest club competition in European football in 2013 when Bayern Munich defeated Borussia Dortmund 2-1.

Manchester United were also beaten 3-1 by Barcelona there in the 2011 final, with goals coming from Pedro, Wayne Rooney, Lionel Messi, and David Villa.

Cerefin will also announce the name of the new third European club competition to supplement the Champions League and Europa League.

The Blues midfielder says it's not the end of the world that he missed against Valencia although did accept it was a disappointment to lose the game


Ross Barkley says he is Chelsea's designated penalty taker and insists he will take the next one the club are awarded despite his 87th-minute miss against Valencia on Tuesday.

"When I’m on the pitch, I’ll take the penalty," he told reporters. "Obviously I didn’t execute it right but everybody misses penalties. I didn’t score the goal but I felt confident. If there was another penalty in the game, I would have been confident to take it.

"You can miss penalties. It’s not the end of the world. We’ve got five more games in the group stage that we're aiming to win but this didn’t go our way."

Barkley has taken five other penalties during his time at Chelsea across penalty-shootouts and during matches.

However, Jorginho is the only Blues player to score from the spot in a competitive match this season after netting in the Super Cup final against Liverpool, with Barkley on the bench.


Willian and Abraham have also taken high-profile penalties in the past and Barkley has no hard feelings over the reaction of his team-mates before he stepped up.

"We’ve got a lot of good penalty-takers in the squad and on a sheet in the changing rooms it says I’m on penalties if I’m on the pitch," he added. "Otherwise, it's Jorginho. But as with all players, sometimes you feel confident to take them on we can all miss one.

"They are confident to take the penalties as well but I practice penalties every day. I don’t miss them in training and in pre-season I scored penalties. I’ve missed penalties before when I was at Everton and it is one of those things. I’m gutted that I missed but these things happen.


"It was more like ‘good luck with the penalty’ type of thing. They were encouraging me and would have been willing to take the penalty as well but I felt confident. It was a disappointing night all round. Our first game in the group stage, our first game at home as well, it was disappointing.

"Missing a penalty is not the end of the world for me. It is a disappointing result not coming away with the three points and disappointing for me not executing the penalty right. I felt confident that I would have but for me, it is to focus on the next game and to get three points at the weekend."
