Gareth Bale’s hopes of getting his career back on track have been setback after Real Madrid decided to pull the plug on the star’s move to Chinese side Jiangsu Suning.

According to the Telegraph, Gareth Bale’s move to the Chinese Super League sensationally collapsed earlier today after Real Madrid refused to sanction a move for the Welshman.

The report claims that Madrid president Florentino Perez wasn’t prepared to allow the superstar to leave for a fee described as ‘nominal’.

The pressure is mounting for Bale as he scrambles to find a way to get his career back on track, the Welshman will be hoping that Jiangsu Suning give into Madrid’s demands before the Chinese transfer window closes on Wednesday.

According to The Sun, Bale was on the verge of completing a move to the Far East on a world-record £1m-a-week.

Bale has been frozen out by Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane. As quoted by BBC Sport, Zidane revealed that he “hoped Bale leaves soon” in a press conference last week.

Bale was heavily linked with a move to a number of the world’s biggest clubs this summer, according to the Times, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain were the only European powerhouses left in the battle to sign the Welshman after Manchester United and Tottenham pulled out of the race.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was also forced to shutdown rumours linking the winger with a move to Anfield, as per Mirror Football.

According to Spanish publication Marca, Bale’s family have also encouraged the star to reject a move to China, it’s understood that the ace’s loved ones would prefer that the Welshman remains in Europe.

Marca also understand that Madrid would prefer that Bale moves to a European side as they would have a better chance of commanding a significant transfer fee for the superstar’s services.

Mirror Football report that Bale currently earns a staggering £650,000-a-week with Madrid, it will be interesting to see if Bale can find his way back into the team next season under Zidane.

The club’s hierarchy can’t afford for a player with Bale’s salary to be sitting on the bench.

It is not clear why Real would want to keep the Wales international, who fell out of favour with the club in the last couple of seasons after problems with fitness and form.

It’s a real shame to see Bale cast aside by Madrid, the former Tottenham star was instrumental in two of Madrid’s recent Champions League triumphs, the Welshman helped Los Blancos to a La Liga title, a Spanish Super Cup, four Champions League titles, three UEFA Super Cups and also four Club World Cups; during his time in the Spanish capital.

Eden Hazard and Virgil van Dijk have been chosen as the cover stars for FIFA 20, EA Sports have confirmed.


The Real Madrid star, who joined the Liga giants from Chelsea this summer, has been announced as the face of the standard version, while Champions League winner Van Dijk will be the cover for the champions edition.

Speaking of the honour of becoming the latest cover star for the new game, Hazard said: "FIFA is the biggest football game on the planet, and I have been playing it for years against my brothers.

"I am lucky to have been on the cover before but to be on FIFA 20 globally is amazing and I hope to excite as many gamers as I do when I take the field for Real Madrid this season!"

Van Dijk added: "It is a huge honour for me to be on the cover of FIFA 20.

Aston Villa have announced the signing of Mahmoud Hassan from Turkish side Kasimpasa.

Known as Trezeguet, the winger has moved to Villa Park for an undisclosed fee, subject to a work visa and international clearance.

Trezeguet is an Egypt international and helped his country reach the last 16 of this summer's Africa Cup of Nations, scoring once in four appearances.

"He's the type of wide player that we have been looking for who is direct, causes problems for the opposition in the final third and scores goals," Aston Villa head coach Dean Smith told the club's official website.

The 24-year-old, who previously played for Al Ahly and Anderlecht, is Villa's ninth signing of the summer transfer window.

Trezeguet could make his Premier League debut when Villa visit Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday 10 August.

African Cup of Nations champions Algeria have received $4.5 million, Senegal $2.5m, while third place contestants Super Eagles and Tunisia earned $2.m.

Algeria lifted their second ever AFCON trophy after narrowly beating Senegal 1-0 in the final last Friday night. Following the end of the tournament, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) have revealed the prize money for all participant countries.

As for hosts Egypt they will receive $670.000 following their disappointing elimination from the round of 16.

The prizes will be distributed as follows:

Angola and Kenya (Third place in group-stages):
$620.000
Round of 16: $670.000 (Benin, Uganda, Egypt, Mali, Guinea, DR Congo, Cameroon and Ghana)

Algeria beat Senegal 2 vs 0 to win the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Amaju Pinnick and the Nigerian Football Federation, have reacted to his removal as the first Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Thursday.

Pinnick in his reaction to the announcement of his removal, thanked the African football body for an opportunity to serve and also congratulated the newly appointed Vice Presidents.

“My commitment to the game is perpetual while my support for my colleagues in the Executive Committee remains steadfast.

“I congratulate Omari, Lekjaa and Danny on the assumption of their new roles as 1st, 2nd and 3rd Vice CAF Presidents respectively,” Pinnick said.

The NFF on its own part disclosed that the removal of Pinnick as CAF’s Vice President, was in line with Article 22 (4) of the CAF Statutes.

The statement from Ademola Olajire, NFF’s Director of Communications reads:-

“In line with Article 22 (4) of the CAF Statutes, every two years when elections are held at the CAF Congress (as took place today), the CAF Executive Committee on the proposal of the CAF President, elects a 1st, 2nd and 3rd Vice President, respectively from among its members.

“Significantly, the renewal of Amaju Pinnick’s tenure was not proposed by the CAF President because of fundamental differences on focus and direction.

“Pinnick accepted the decision of the President as it aligned with his own view having considered matters surrounding the administration of African Football which have dovetailed into the Nigerian Football space.

“He will, however, remain a bonafide member of the CAF Executive Committee to continue with his mandate as such.”

The Premier League will use the head-to-head record between two sides level on points to determine their league positions in a bid to avoid the need for an end-of-season play-off.


The new rule has been introduced ahead of the 2019/20 season, and will come into effect if teams are level on points, goal difference and goals scored.

Under the previous rules, teams level on those three criteria would be forced to take part in a play-off to determine which one took the higher position.

But their head-to-head record will now come into effect in that scenario, with the team with the most points taking the higher place.

If the sides are level on points in their head-to-head record, the team with the most away goals in the matches between them finish higher.


If the teams still cannot be separated a play-off will take place at a neutral venue, with the format, timing and venue to be determined by the Premier League

The rule will apply to teams fighting for the title and European qualification, as well as sides battling against relegation.

Derby have appointed former Brighton, Fulham and Hull defender Liam Rosenior as a specialist first-team coach.


Rosenior, 35, retired as a player in 2018 and has since worked as assistant coach with Brighton's under-23 side.

An "emphasis" of his job at Derby working alongside new boss Phillip Cocu will be "on individual development of emerging young talent".

Derby also say he will also play a "prominent role" working with both scouting and analysis departments.

Rosenior joins as a second specialist first-team coach, with Twan Scheepers following fellow Dutchman Cocu to the Rams having worked at PSV Eindhoven's academy for 10 years.

Assistant manager Chris van der Weerden worked with Cocu at both PSV and Fenerbahce, while Shay Given has remained as goalkeeping coach following Frank Lampard's departure to Chelsea.

Arsenal have confirmed the appointment of Edu as their new technical director after their former midfielder left his role with the Brazil national team.



The 41-year-old former Brazilian midfielder who made 127 appearances for Arsenal over five seasons between 2000 and 2005, will be responsible for player scouting and squad recruitment.



According to the club, Edu's brief will also involve coordinating the club's first-team coaching staff and work within the academy.


Edu said: Arsenal has always had a special place in my heart and I'm thrilled to be returning to this great club in this new role.

'We have a strong squad and some very talented young players with fantastic people at every level. I'm looking forward to helping make a difference.'

Lionel Messi's restaurant in his home town, Rosario is offering homeless people free meals, coffee and even a bit of wine, Reportminds.com can confirm.

The restaurant, named VIP, has been offering warm meals since last Friday and intends to keep doing so for the foreseeable future.

"We've also been giving out coffee, soft drinks and even some wine to some," said the restaurant manager Ariel Almada, per Marca .

 "Many people came and were very respectful. We're going to keep this up for 15 days, every night between 19:00 and 21:00."

The Barcelona man is currently embroiled in a bit of a media circus after his comments on 'corruption' at the Copa America.

A number of Brazil's players - including former Barca teammate Dani Alves - have called out the Argentine and he could be seriously punished by CONMEBOL.
There are talks of a potential two-year ban from international football for Messi.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has put everything in place, to ensure that Video Assistant Referees (VAR), is used from the quarter-finals of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

The technology was not used in the group stages and Round of 16 fixtures.

However, it will make its debut on Wednesday, July 10.

First for the last-8 clash between Senegal and Benin, then the subsequent game between Nigeria and South Africa.

Souleyman Waberi, the CAF exco member from Djibouti and chairman of CAF’s referee’s commission, told Osasu Obayiuwana of the BBC: “We are very ready. We have used VAR offline (in test mode) for five games in this tournament, starting with the Egypt vs Uganda match.

“Everything has worked well. Refereeing experts from FIFA have checked things and are satisfied.”

Waberi also revealed that CAF expects to use VAR for the 2020 CHAN from the start of that tournament.

The tournament will be hosted by Cameroon, who will also host the 2021 AFCON a year later.

“Our plan is to use VAR from the first match of that tournament,” he added.

After Egypt sacked head coach Javier Aguirre, Uganda have confirmed the exit of coach Sebastien Desabre on mutual consent after the team returned from the Africa Cup of Nations finals.

The East African side put up a brave fight to fall by a solitary goal to Senegal and exit the competition at the Round of 16.

However, in a statement from Federation of Uganda Football Association (Fufa), the French coach has terminated his contract with the side.

The statement reads, “On the 6th of July 2019, both Fufa and National Team Head coach of the Uganda Cranes Desabre Sebastien Serge Louis mutually agreed to terminate the contract between the two parties.

“The reasons for termination of the employment contract are for the benefit and growth of both parties.

“Fufa recognises the contribution by Sebastien Desabre for the improvement of the sporting and professional organisation of the Uganda Cranes inclusive of qualification to the Afcon 2019 finals and also to the Round of 16.”

Fufa have also confirmed they will name a new coach in due course.

“Fufa will communicate any further development about the Uganda Cranes technical staff and future programmes of the national senior team in the nearest future.”

While in Egypt, Desabre guided Uganda to a 2-0 win against DR Congo, lost by a similar margin to Egypt before securing a 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe which was enough to seal their place in the knockout stages.

Desabre, who joined Uganda Cranes in December 2017 to replace Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojević, is on the verge of being appointed Al Ahly coach in Egypt.
