Politics › Re: State Police: Lagos Is Ready, Says Ifalade – GM, LNSA by adabaraabdul: 6:15am On Mar 06 |
helinues: State policing idea should be suspended now.
Even if the Southern governors claimed they are ready for it, are the Northerners ready,?
Modified: To those asking to explain further
You see the current insecurity in North is based on different factors
Politics- There are some of the attacks in North which is to reduce the opposition base
Religion - Apart from christian persecution story, Sunni and Shia are also fighting themselves but it doesn't make it news
Land grabbing - Bandits sacked, bandits displayed is mostly about land grabbing
And Superiority - We are better, stronger than them, let's prove to them have been part of the attacks in North
You see the politics part is why the state policing should be suspended now. The governor's in North will hunt all their opposition down. Even before them in charge of state police, they already abused it I don’t agree with your opinion. There is no time the whole country as one will ever be ready for state police, so the earlier we adopted it, the better. Insecurity is growing by the day and Government have tried different avenues to check mate it and we are not getting desired results. Let’s try state police, eventually we will get it right. But for now the foundation of massively cracking down on insecurity will be the implementation of community policing. When Governors in the southern part start seeing results, the Governors in the North will seat up. It can happen, we can make it work. |

Iamzik: Usman jinrin is from kebbi but born and bred in Lagos and Is currently in the military using his Lagos state indigene certificate. So what's your point? My point is that the Government of Sokoto state has come out with an official report that he is not from their state. “Usman Jinrin” must have been vetted by the Lagos state Government and certified to be a Lagosian. Now that is my point. I hope you get it? |

Forget about the cost of the tyre, the police man acted very unprofessionally putting his life and the lives of all road users in danger. I must commend the CP for taking charge of the situation. The policeman in question should be psychologically evaluated to see if he is fit to Continue to discharge his duties as a policeman or not. |

So in essence it means the refinery was operating at a loss which means its better the refinery did not even "work" in the first place. So for me when someone said the refinery never worked, then that's true. Government should sell those refineries and move on. As long as Government wants to run these systems, we shouldn't expect anything positive from it. |

Politics › Re: Protesters overwhelm Security Operatives, Block Abuja-Kaduna Highway by adabaraabdul: 10:56pm On Jun 29, 2025 |
NiRfreak: Only govt kill during protest..... . If u mention me again.,,,I will curses on ur father, mother and children..,,,im allergic to foooolish Nigerian..and if u dont understand my stand...,read this piece below .
Government have gone on overdrive using propagada, lies and scare tactics to cancel, douse the moral, and intimidate Nigerians against their lawful right to protest. It's even worse on Nairaland as pro-govt paid-agents infiltrated any thread to amplify such thread and peddle various trope against protest, often times ridiculing us and the suffering of Nigerians. It's a shame and I believe it should fuel our anger to protest the more. The mildest of govt tactics is to hypnotise and reinforce into the psyche of Nigerians that protest equals violence and death just to discourage us . But historically govt is usually the cause of all violent protests in Nigeria. . The truth of the matter is, protest by its nature can not always be curtailed or predicted. What determines if a protest will be peaceful is the anger or the gravity of issues that fueled the protest in the first place especially if government is willfully oppressing and causing suffering. That's why in saner climes ,u don't worsen issue by shooting angry peaceful protesters...and now tell them to be peaceful
So, fuelling most violent protest is govts callousness to shoot at protesters. If police shoots at protesters, then there's no more rule of engagement or civility. That becomes a free for all as primal emotion against injustice will take over
Violent protest is bottled up anger against insensitivity or callousness of govt as well as perceived injustice, oppression and resistance of govt.....in such scenario, u cant tell a protester how he expresses that anger. . If protest has to be violent especially by destroying govt property, so be it, if it will get the needed attention. It took govt institutions to be burnt down in Kenya before their govt took them serious. So Nigerians shouldn't play into govt book that protest should be cordoned off in a venue , that it shouldn't involve blocking of roads, or vandalizing govt property. This is the rule of protest everywhere in the world when people protest against suffering and oppression. Otherwise govt will never take us serious. . The efficacy of protest is unfortunately directly dependent on how much it cripples the economy and how much collateral damage a govt fears it will lose on its institutions and property..... otherwise...na rally una dey do o..... l totally get your point. But how can I support damaging of our common patrimony when I know that Governments all over the world is local. If some kinds of arrangements work in other African spheres, does it guarantee it would work well here?. I totally get your point that perhaps the way it works here is to do whatever u need to do to get government attention, but all the time, there's need to go through history and see if this approach actually works? Protests in Nigeria where Government assets; our common patrimony were distroyed has never yielded desired gains, infacf, it takes from all of us and enriches those we protest against. So for me, we need to be smart before we start supporting evil and destruction. My 2cents. |

Obviouslyblunt: I use an iPhone 15 currently. I have been in the iPhone ecosystem since the days of iPhone 5s, only skipping the 8 for an X. I don’t use iPhone for luxury. I use it because of the smooth UI and fluidity. I hate that apple lock down their phones so much. I am currently using trollstore on iOS 17.0 to sideload apps and tweak my phone to my desire. Hence why I’ll die with this iPhone 15, or if another jailbreak or tweak comes out for these new iPhones.
I love Samsung, pixel and the Redmi turbo device I saw one time on this website and I’ll argue that these are better phones than the iPhone. But In the end I still come back to iOS because of that fluidity. It’s just missing on android social apps. I really wish android will try this to perfection so it will be, bye bye iPhones for me, but I know it has to do with developers optimizing their apps, and swift integration is what will give you this, which iOS uses. pls how do u subscribe on some apps. I just starting using an iphone and I am having difficulties paying subscription on some apps. You seem like a real and deep iphone connoisseur. |

To my dear brothers in the east, 1. Not everyone in Northern Nigeria is fulani, there are tons of tribes in the North and also alot of northern Christians exist. 2. The hunters lynched in Uromi are not fulanis, they are hausa people. 3. People in the North too suffer from the bad eggs amongst the fulani people. There are actually legitimate fulani herders going about their legitimate businesses and obeying the laws of the land. These fulani people are also oppressed and killed with their cattle rustled by the evil ones. 4. Failure of Government to deal with kidnappers and bandits should not be an excuse to kill Nigerians from the North. Not every fulani man Is a kidnapper. |

Animals don finish for your village bush to warrant hunters carry gun enter motor, travel go another man state, many kilometers away go hunt? No be madness be that? Its just like seeing fishermen travel away from their village with streams and aquatic resources to a faraway village belonging to other people, to fish.
Dumb reasons to lay out structures and strategies for their nonsense Jihad. Idiots! You are talking from a place of emotions. I will listen to your Governor and government officials you presented to represent you. They know better and they are jn the place of authority. There is a serious issue in Nigeria and I think we all deserve the kinds of leaders we have. I don't know if some of us don't understand that in any tribe there are good people and bad people. Also I see that some guys from the south naturally hate people from the North, and its really crazy. If it was confirmed that the guys killed were kidnappers and bandits , i don't even think the Governor would have done all what he is doing. Pls people, licensed hunters and kidnappers are not the same thing. Even the people in the North are suffering from kidnappers and banditry. So let's get our mind right. |

The people of the South East need to rally round to see how to stop this menace. If Government is complacent then the people would need to resort to self help. Self help doesn't mean killing innocent travellers. Kidnappers and the bad eggs amongst the fulani people use AK47s so the people affected need to strategize well to tackle this menace. |

Good move by the Governor. This will allay nerves and douse potential sorts of any reprisal attacks. This is leadership at its finnest. But the most important thing to be done is for Government and security agents to get rid of the real perpetrators of kidnapping and banditry so innocent hunters would not be casualties of what they know nothing about. |

I think she made some points, salient ones. Given the fact that she's a Corp member currently serving, I would have thought she would have proceeded with caution. Like someone rightly said, for now she's a civil servant and the by laws are there to really guide her. There's something off with working for the Government and at the same time calling out the president and the manner she did it was a bit disrespectful. The most important thing for now, is for the Government to enlighten her on the issues bedeviling the nation and the policy direction of the Governement and also give a timeline of when we would be out of this current conundrum we find ourselves in. |
