Some political stable African countries fall prey to modern colonialism of western cooperation, and people have no power nor knowledge to overthrow the corrupted totalitarian regimes.

These countries struggle to peacefully transform to democratic regime because the leaders lacks patriotism and despise education.

Some semi-democratic developing countries that have sovereign independence rely on first and third industry and can’t develop second industry so their wealth are drained to buy goods such as cars, electronics, and online services. Korea produces cars and electronics.

They all strive to develop high additive value industry while reduce importation of high value consumer products.

How did South Korea become 100 times wealthier than African countries combined in less than 70 years?

During the massive industrialization in South Korea schools would repeat “Our country doesn’t have natural resources. So what does that mean?” and the kids would reply “We have to study”, and the teachers would say “The human mind is the best recourse” or something like that.

South Korea quite literally had nothing after the war. We had no building left, we had no money left. But what we did have was a lot of people. With this parents made their children study for hours for a better future than themselves.

Exporting meant everything for the Korean economy. Since we had absolutely no natural material to gain money from, we used the American aid and began building factories and started importing materials from foreign nations. As this happened we would export as much as we could.

South Korea’s development also largely has to do with nationalism. The people would do everything for the country as if it was their own son. During the IMF crisis in Asia South Korea was hit extremely hard, yet was able to recover in such little time. A lot has to do with the people.

During that period the South Korean government asked the people for gold to pay off the debt. Surprisingly the people actually did listen, people would line up with their marriage rings and other important gold assets and just give them to the government.

Its an economic miracle for South Korea, now with all this said, I would like to add i am NOT a professional economist. So that means I might be incorrect in my statement but put aside ethnicity & religion, Nigeria could get there.
