Really, we should get back to the issue@topic.
Our people say (those guys are always talking, by the way) that if a mad man insults you, do not insult him (or in this case her) back otherwise, people would say "Two mad men are insulting each other".
When i look at the black south africa, all i feel for them is pity. Really.

Hi people! its good to be back as i have been away . That means i missed 1 whole week of big brother . but thanks to u guys am abit abreast of the going ons.
what this i hear about rato bed wetting ,n kwaku trying to gel with the big fives . For me i think ofunne should watch out ,for kwaku has always been a charmer n if i could equate him with an animal chameleon will be my first choice always changing colour to suit his environment . she should know better, kwaku may just spell her doom. ZAMBIA’S Big Brother Africa 2 housemate Maxwell Chongo has been dumped by his fiancée, Suli Sinkala, for what she terms his foolish behaviour while in the House.

And Maxwell, who arrived in Lusaka yesterday, said he would miss South Africas Lerato and Ghanas Kwaku in the Big Brother House.

Suli confirmed in an interview with The Post that she had dumped Maxwell.

Suli was earlier invited by Big Brother to attend Max’s eviction ceremony last Sunday but shunned the event and was conspicuously absent from at the airport yesterday.

'I don’t want anything to do with Max because his relationship with Lerato has spoiled everything that was between us,' Suli said.

'I can confirm to you that I am Max’s exgirlfriend or fiancée and that whatever was between us is over and when I come to Lusaka I will find time to tell his mother who also I’m sure is disappointed with his behaviour.'

She said Max knew whatever he was doing while in the Big Brother house and wondered what explanation he could give her to justify his actions.

'He slept with Lerato (South African housemate) in his sober state and how do take that as a lady? Fine, when he first kissed her I did not get offended because I knew it was a game hopping things would not go the way things went but it will be foolish of him to justify why he embarrassed himself by sleeping with Lerato,' she said.

Suli disclosed that she was against Max’s idea of going into the Big Brother House because she was aware of the repercussions.

'When he told me that he was chosen to represent Zambia in the Big Brother House I was against that Idea. But because he loved the game, I had no option but to support him. But this is what I get in return,' Suli said.

'Let me tell you this, if Max loved me he was not going to sleep with that girl. He never mentioned my name in the house, he completely forgot about me and then what will people think of me? Fine, it was a game but there are other people’s feelings involved.

'There is no turning point for me because I have gone through a lot while he was sleeping around in that house. It’s time for me to move on. As you know I am doing a degree programme so I want to concentrate on my studies. The four years we have been together is enough.

'I will not be there at the airport not even at his party because I have told you that I don’t want anything to do with Max because it is over between the two of us,' Suli said.

And speaking to an Mnet television crew shortly after arriving aboard a South African airline, Maxwell said he was glad to be back home.

'It feels great to be home and see my people, I can’t remember the last time I saw a car. I can’t remember the last time I saw 50 people and I lost track of date and time,' said Maxwell.

However, no fans were at the airport to welcome Maxwell.

Only his sisters and brother were on hand to welcome him at the airport.
Max, who looked excited, when asked what he would miss most from the BBA house, Maxwell said, 'I Miss Baby! I miss Lerato and I miss Kwaku,' he said.

Maxwell expressed hope that Lerato would be the last to leave the house.
'It’s tricky now, because after I left the house, the house mates were in two camps so if Lerato doesn’t make it, I see Maureen winning,' Maxwell said.

He also said he wanted to join an NGO that supported the fight against HIV/AIDS.
'I want to join an NGO and spend time in fighting AIDS, sexual abuse at places of work and child labour,' he said.

Maxwell was evicted last Sunday after 12 countries voted against him.

Eight housemates from Zimbabwe, Ghana, Nigeria, Angola, Tanzania, Uganda, Malawi and South Africa remain in the house. the show ends on November 11.

Maxwell is the fourth housemate to be evicted after Botswana’s Justice, Kenya’s Jeff and Namibia’s Meryl.

Well, that's quite true but if you consider the fact that Lerato won the arrow thing because she had practised before coming to the house, we should not be surprised if she becomes HOH permanently, winning the tasks [which Biggy knows she had rehearsed] every week.

She's only coming out if the public is allowed to vote. And I dont think that is happening.

Really, i have no problems with lerato winning though. She's about the smartest, most loyal person in that house. She true to herself and even has better judgments on morals than Richard.
my opinion though.

Now I know Lerato is winning this thing.

As an aside, I have friends/acquaintances presently learning the ropes in schools of film directing (Florida, USA) and also in South Africa.

Most of us have learnt how to recognise quality but not how to make it.
When people that have learnt how to produce quality talk, and show us what they can do, then we're making progress.

Good talk.
But the support the bad movies gets makes it almost impossible to get these guys to listen.

You have one business man in Alaba/Surulere/Onitsha/Nnewi/anywhere.
He puts up N3m for a movie, and he says he needs his returns - i hear its about 5m profit or more - in a month.
So the director quickly arranges for someone to write 3 scripts/rush to Surulere to pick "actors", and adds one or two "stars", then they start filming, oftentimes three films and all is done in 2 weeks.
Then the posters come out, and line the bridges in ikeja/oshodi/upper iweka/pound rd Aba/alaba/ etc
and the film is out, the "actors" are settled, and business man gets his money back.

I really think a very important part of improving this Nollywood of a thing is improving the quality of life of the average Nigerian.
As long as the average Nigerian is illiterate, and does not know the taste of good soup, he does not reject bad movies.
Oh yes, we should try and influence it so that they improve but I tell you, you will be shocked at the level of sheer ignorance and illiteracy, especially in the Niger Delta i have called home for close to a year.
Just a few movie producers -the Tade Ogidans- last.
If we can get rid of all this hunger and rubbish, there will be improvement.

In summary, our pervasive hunger makes us settle for much less than we deserve. Simple.

Completely true.

Some people argue that Hollywood did not get there in one day. But have we yet given birth to movies of the class of "Gone with the winds) -1940smthg, "Sound of Music" -1961/2, Roots (Early 1970s) etc. Even Arelu series by Jimoh Aliu in the 80s is much better than the rubbish our house help stays glued to African Magic for.

I have a postulation though.
If you enjoy Nigerian movies more than the American ones, its probably because you have issues with understanding oyinbo people and its just too thick for you to follow. You would rather prefer a 15 minute film dragged on to 6 hours, in Part 1 and Part 2.

Finally, it is those of us that are most annoyed with it that can change the industry, and there are many things militating against the change
1. Do the majority even think there is need for a change. Will they appreciate the subtle plots and be able to infer, instead of being spoon-fed the story a sentence at a time
2. Are the majority of our best writers not wasting away in banks and the telecoms industry
3. Will the pirates let you reap well from box office earnings
etc etc etc

But all these are surmountable, and we shall overcome !

I really think Meryl should stay. Herself and Lerato have been 'real' all this while, and they never nominate a friend, the way Bertha has done (and completely brought on herself my wife's everlasting wrath). For being real (though bad), Meryl should stay.

She is a complete disgrace.

and why are people supporting Offuneka just because she's Nigerian. I really think that is wrong. Imagine her saying Jeff will be greatly missed. That is so untrue. What is there to miss in Jeff.? And she keeps nominating Lerato and Meryl. They are the only loyal friends anyone can have in that house, especially Lerato. We are routing for her to win now.
Max is a backstabber. Kweku is a dangerous player, Bertha is all of a sudden turning bad (and to imagine the friendship Meryl shows to her). Richard should go save his marriage, Maureen should just go. Code should keep lying low till week 11. Lerato should win.
