Yes, they have started issuing visas.

folkab4real:
Hi, have you gotten your visa or crossed over to germany. I rememberedwe did our visa interview last year December.

I only got a documents verification completion mail in march after the the lawyer came for verification in February. Also, got my original documents back in march ending some days before Nigeria lockdown. I just want to know if they have start issuing visa to anyone after the uplifting of lockdown. Thanks

Had the same issue but it was sorted. My wife called the foreigners office and the foreigners office contacted the embassy immediately. I will advise you tell your husband to do same.

Sweethoneypour:
Good day Nairalanders please I want to ask some questions, before the consulate in lagos closed due to Covid19 and documents were returned has anyone gotten an approval mail? And if you have, has the embassy called you to bring your passport? Cause in my own case the approval mail was sent to my husband's lawyer in March after our documents were returned (my son and I) and the lawyer kept mailing them they said they were still closed within the scope of the Covid19 till we got a recent response from them saying the approval mail sent by the foreigner's office is no longer valid and they want to again ask them for approval..
Anyone with such case please?

Thanks for the reply, please keep us updated, I will do the same.

my interview was on 16th of December, still patiently waiting for the lawyer

HI, when was your family reunion appointment date? Has the lawyers contacted you or come for documents verification?

sissyborlahdey:

No, they are different. Affidavit of marital status should be done by your father or head of family
Travel / Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by Adedamola92: 9:04am On Jan 12, 2020
I think it's peculiar to my case, I should have paid on my appointment day, but I was told I wouldn't need to pay. Only for me to receive an email requesting that I should bring the money (which I was low-key happy about though) to the embassy.

Rachy72:

Hello Adedamola92, please i thought we are to pay the verification fee the same day of the interview, didn't know they'll call you to pay on a separate day. Please is this the same for everyone?
Travel / Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by Adedamola92: 6:56pm On Jan 06, 2020
OK. When was your appointment?
Prettty1:

Not yet
Travel / Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by Adedamola92: 6:41am On Jan 06, 2020
They are yet to start the verification, will be going to the embassy today to pay the 150k for verification. Have they started yours?

Yeah, meant his German passport. No vex, the Nigerian in me is too thick ni o, so I see everything from green and white lens.

mnetfaze:
Please dear,I don't understand what you mean by his green passport?... He doesn't use a green passport, he is not a Nigerian. He has a German passport (the red German passport) because he is pure German.

Update : I got an email from the embassy sequel to my interview that I should make available 150k for document verification on or before a specific date next month.

Adedamola92:
Good evening guys,
Had my interview yesterday and it went well. First ensure you arrange all the documents according to the order that is on the checklist. Although Paulonius will want you to arrange it his way, but it's a lot easier once you have already arranged it according to the checklist.
I got to the embassy around 6:30am, I was allowed in 15 minutes later . My invitation email printout was stamped, I took my sit and waited to be attended to. 8:15am, Paulonius attended to me and told me to arrange my docs according to his own order which isn't far away from the way it is on the checklist. This process took about 20mins because he was deliberately wasting time and trying to assert his authority. Once I was done, I proceeded into the embassy to eventually meet the interviewer.
She asked me if I had both the document verification and the visa application fee and I said yes. She then told me to rearrange my docs according to her checklist, she scanned my passport photograph and that of my spouse. She told me to re-sign my application form and write Lagos as the "Place" and yesterday's date as the "Date" did this for both application forms, my questionnaires and the data protection forms (she gave me this form there).

She asked for my Spouse's phone number, email, date of birth, the city my spouse resides and what spouse does. She asked if my spouse is on scholarship or not, I told her my spouse is not on scholarship. This was when she told me I will only need to pay for application fee and not the verification fee. I was confused, I brought out my spouse's work contract (this was part of many supplementary documents that I went with), she took the contract to her superior and came back to tell me that I still don't need to pay the document verification fee. I asked her if I could ask her a question and she smiled and told me to go ahead. I asked why I wouldn't need to pay, she said it's because my spouse is a Researcher (PhD student) so I don't need to pay. We then proceeded to interview questions, in my mind I was like (what questions again o). I can't remember the whole questions she asked, but I will drop some.
How old is your spouse?
Where was your spouse born?
Spouse's date of birth?
What date did your spouse agree to start dating or vis a vis?
Were you friends before you started dating?
What year did your spouse first traveled to ?
How long has your spouse's parent know about you?
Have you been to Germany before?
Have you been convicted before?
Has either of you been married before?
How long have you been dating?
How long have you been married?
What does your spouse do?
Where does your spouse work?
How long has your spouse been residing in Germany?
What is your spouse's home address?
When did the actual marriage take place?
How often do you see?
Have you at any point stayed together in the same house? If yes, from when to when (date /month).
When was the last time you saw your spouse?
Where was the last time you saw your spouse?
How much does your spouse earn? (exact figure).
How many times have you been together? 100? 350? Over 500 times?
Do you stay alone?
Are you working?
What qualifications do you have?
What were you doing when you met your spouse ?
Describe in details how your first meeting was?
When your spouse came , did he/she come home for the sake of the marriage?
How did the marriage proposal go?
Have you had your church marriage?
Do you speak German?
Do you have children that you will like to travel with?
Where did your engagement take place?
When did your engagement take place?
Where did your marriage take place?
She returned my passports to me and told me I will be contacted when it's needed. She has another checklist where she ticked the docs I provided and told me to sign. She created a file on which she wrote my name , where she kept my original documents,my pre-paid envelope and the copies of the documents I submitted.

Ps. She requested for 6 pictures from the engagement and the wedding plus all the old pictures we had, she ended up collecting 6 engagement pictures and 3 wedding pictures plus all old pictures. She was particular about pictures that show you and your spouse, you, your spouse with witnesses.
Also ensure you use the new application form on the website, it makes the whole process easy.

The entry and exit stamp is important, it helps you answer questions on duration and the last time you saw to avoid contradiction.

The original Proof of Residence of your spouse is required.

If I remember more, I will update accordingly.

Wishing you guys Goodluck and all the best to Us.

They held on to all original documents including the proof of residence. All original original documents documents will be returned to you, that's the essence of you submitting a pre paid courier envelope.
Rachy72:

Hello Adedamola , thanks for all the information it really help. Please i have a question. After you gave them the original proof of residence, did they return it back to you or they held on to it?

Travel / Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by Adedamola92: 12:53pm On Dec 11, 2019
I really don't think the copy of the Meldebescheinigung counts, the interviewer specifically asked for the original.
If he is a German citizen, then his green passport or his ID (showing that he is German) is perfect.

Yes, my spouse had to send the original proof of residence cause that's what is required at the embassy.

@Adedamola92
Thanks for this thread and all the best on your visa. Please, did your husband have to send the original Proof of Residence document down to you by post?
Travel / Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by Adedamola92: 7:23pm On Dec 06, 2019
Residence permit number should be that of your spouse, ensure its the new forms and that is on website that you are filling. And be sure they are not referring to "residence number" which will be your home address number. If your husband is there for a specific period of time, I. e. If he is there for his masters, use the duration of the expected time he it's suppose to take him to complete his program. If he is there for work purpose, I will suggest you use a reasonable duration, Maybe 3yrs. I also advice you start filling this form once you get an appointment date. Regarding the insurance, ask your husband if the insurance he has covers his family, if No, tell him to look into getting one that will cover his family. If he does, then you can tick that you have health insurance. In my opinion, get all possible relevant documents that you can lay your hands on, take them to the embassy as part of supplementary documents incase you need to show them, if they don't ask for it, you will take it back which doesn't hurt.

mnetfaze:
Please naira Fam I need ur help. I applied for a German family reunion visa 10 of October, but I haven't gotten an appointment date yet. Pls anybody with an experience of filling the form? I need to know what they meant by this question (1) my Residence permit no?

I'm not sure if Nigerians uses residence permit number, I have not heard of it. Or is it suppose to be our national ID? I'm really confused about this question. And the second question
(2) they asked intended duration of stay in Germany? (From - To)
Hence I'm going to be with my husband, should write from now till forever?
And the third question
(3) do I have health insurance that covers Republic of Germany?
Should I tick yes which mean it's my husband's health insurance OR should tick NO.. Which will mean I don't have any health insurance in Germany.
Lastly, even though I didn't see #Policy Report as part of German family reunion visa requirement, do I have to get one for my application?

Please good people help me
Thanks in advance

Nope. You have a right to join your spouse if you submit the required docs and your spouse aslo fulfils the requirements. Do not attempt to tell any lie. Also, rmember every interview questions and kindly share it here after the interview. sucess. if your spouse can give your a copy of his house contract and work contract or finances, it can help hasten the process.

Thank you very much for your detailed response. I really appreciate

knogbu:
duration before getting the visa is case dependent. the wife of my colleague got her visa after 2 weeks of interview. Seen others who waited 6 - 8 months. However, the normal procedure is that a lawyer visits any of your referees or even you to obtain infomation about you. So make sure you use referees that will easily be located. Of course, proof of resisdence is very important so also your spouse income. Normally, after your interview, they will invite your spouse to show these docs (accomodation, bank account or work contract, etc) before a decision is taken for your case. Interview questions centres mainly on finding out if you have basic german knowledge and informatin about your spouse. Its important that you remember how u and when you met him, etc. On the other hand, they may ask you for the docs and the interviews ends like that. Good luck and also surf the internet for other people experiences

I applied for the family renunion visa in May, 5th to be precise and I got an interview date for December 5th. I have few questions however for people that have gone through this process or have a know how of how it works.
How long after the interview will the visa be issued?
Is Proof of residence of the spouse living in Germany the same as "Meldebescheinigung"?
What did your spouse use as proof of residence? Also, does the proof of residence need to be in original?

Any family reunification appointment date recieved one month after application is likely to be from agents or fraudsters and embassy don't attend to such appointment date cos a friend of mine experienced the same problem with embassy and she was rejected by the German embassy security man.The waiting period is really frustrating but is better to follow the normal process than to get the date sharp sharp from fake agents and rejected at last by embassy.Thank God for April applicants have received their own date.Be patient and put everything in prayers
