Firstly: Is Khamr unclean, or not? On this question, scholars have differed…most of them say that the alcohol is physically impure, meaning that if it is spilt on the clothing or the body, it must be purified. There are also among the scholars those who say that alcohol is not physically impure, because physical impurity is a legal ruling, which requires evidence, and there is no evidence of that. And if it is not confirmed by legal evidence that alcohol is impure, then fundamentally, it is pure. Some may say that the evidence is in the Book of Allaah, the Most High: "O you who believe! Khamr (all kinds of alcoholic drinks), gambling, Al-Ansaab, and Al-Azlaam (arrows for seeking luck or decision) are Rijs of Shaitaan's (Satan) handiwork. So avoid (strictly all) that (abomination) in order that you may be successful." [Surah Al-Ma'idah 5:90] And Rijs means filth, as Allaah, the Most High says: "Say (O Muhammad): "I find not in that which has been inspired to me anything forbidden to be eaten by one who wishes to eat it, unless it be Maitah (a dead animal) or blood poured forth (by slaughtering or the like), or the flesh of swine (pork, etc.) for that surely is impure, or impious (unlawful) meat (of an animal) which is slaughtered as a sacrifice for others than Allaah."" [Surah al-An'am 6:145] That is, the above mentioned foods, the Maitah, pork or blood poured forth are all Rijs, meaning unclean. And the evidence that Rijs here means unclean is the saying of the Prophet (Sallallaahu alayhi wassalam) concerning the skin of the dead animal, that water purifies it, so his saying: “It purifies it” is a proof that it was unclean, and this is something well known to the scholars. But it may be said in reply to this that what is meant by Rijs here is spiritual unlceanness, not physical uncleanness, of which is the Words of Allaah, the Most High: "Rijs of Shaitaan's (Satan) handiwork." [Surah al-Ma'idah 5:90] Additional evidence is the fact that gambling, Al-Ansab and Al-Azlam are not physically unclean, and the description (Rijs) here is all four: alcoholic drinks, gambling Al-Ansab and Al-Azlam… and if the description applies to all four of these things, then the ruling on all of them is the same. Also, those who say that alcohol is not physically unclean have another proof from the Sunnah, which is that when the prohibition of alcoholic drinks was revealed, the Prophet (Sallallaahu alayhi wassalam) did not order the vessel to be washed clean of it. Likewise, the Companions emptied them out in the markets, and if it was unclean, they would not have emptied them out in the markets, because that would necessitate pollution being spread throughout them. Secondly: Since it is clear that the Khamr is not physically unclean - and that is the most authoritative saying in my opinion – then alcohol is not physically impure, but spiritually impure, because the alcohol which inebriates is Khamr, according to the words of the Prohpet (Sallallaahu alayhi wassalam): “Everything which inebriates is Khamr.” And if it is Khamr, then its use as a beverage or a food , by being mixed with certain food to give flavour to it is clearly forbidden by the Book and agreement of the Scholars. But as for use for other things, such as cleansing bacteria and the like, it is a matter of opinion, and whoever avoids it is more prudent… but I cannot say that it is forbidden, though I do not use it myself, except when necessary, such as sterilising wounds and such likes. Alihamdulilah It is known in the Religion by necessity, and by the evidences of the legislation (sharee'ah), that the Messenger of Allaah, may the salutations and peace of Allaah be upon him, is not present (or to be found) in every location. Indeed his body is in his grave only in al-Madeenah al-Munawara. As for his soul, then it is in the highest company in Paradise. And that which is evidence for that is what is established from him, sallallaahu 'alaihi wassallam, that he said: "O Allaah, (place me) in the highest company" (Al-Bukhaaree, Chapter of Battles, 4437. Muslim, Chapter of the Excellence of the Companions, 87-2444) He said this three times and then passed away. Indeed, the Scholars of Islaam, from the Companions and those who followed them, have agreed by concensus ('ijmaa), that the Prophet, sallallaahu 'alaihi wassallam, was buried in the house of A'isha (radhi Allaahu anhaa), which was next to the Sacred Mosque (in Madeenah). And his body has not ceased to remain there thoughout history. As for his soul and the souls of the rest of the Prophets and Messengers and the Believers, then all of them are in Paradise, in lofty stations and levels in accordance to that which Allaah has specified for them due to their knowledge, faith (eemaan) and patience upon undertaking hardships in the path of calling to the truth.As for the unseen, then noone knows it except for Allaah alone. That which was known by the Messenger (sallallaahu 'alaihi wassallam) and other than him from the creation of the unseen matters, it was that which Allaah had informed him of, from that which is found in the Noble Qur'aan and the Pure Authentic Sunnah - from the explantions/clarifications of the affairs of Paradise, Hellfire and Judgement Day and other than that, from that which is indicated in the Qur'aan and authentic ahadeeth, such as news regarding the Great Liar/Anti-Christ (Ad-Dajjaal), the Sun rising from the West, the emergence of the Beast of the earth, the descent of 'Eesaa ibn Maryam close to the Hour (Judgement Day), and that which resembles it, due to the statement of Allaah: "Say: None in the Heavens and the Earth knows the Ghaib (Unseen) except Allaah, nor can they perceive when they shall be resurrected." (An-Naml:65) And His, The Most High, statement: "Say,(O Muhammad): I do not say to you that with me are the treasures of Allaah, nor that I know the Unseen.." (Al-An'aam:50) And the statement of Allaah in Sooratul-A'raaf: "Say, (O Muhammad): I have no power of benefit nor (avert) harm for myeslf except as Allaah wills. If I had knowledge of the Unseen (Ghaib), I should have secured for myself an abundance of wealth, and no evil should have touched me. I am but a warner, and a bringer of glad tidings unto people who believe." (Al-A'raaf: 188) And the ayaat with this meaning are many. And it established authentically upon the Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu 'alaihi wassallam), in narrations that show that he did not have knowledge of the Unseen. From that is what is established in his (salallaahu 'alaihi wassallam) response to (the Angel) Jibreel when he asked (the Messenger of Allaah): "When is the Hour?" He (salallaahu 'alaihi wassallam) said: "The one being questioned knows no better than the questioner." He (salallaahu 'alaihi wassallam) also said: "Regarding five (matters), none knows them except Allaah", then he (salallaahu 'alaihi wassallam) recited: "Verily, Allaah! With Him alone is the knowledge of the Hour, He sends down the rain, and knows that which is in the wombs. No person knows what he will earn tomorrow, and no person knows in which land he will die. Veril Allaah is All-Knower, All-Aware." (Luqmaan:34) [Al-Bukhaaree, Chapter of Eemaan (50). Muslim, Chapter of Eemaan (9), fromthe hadeeth of Abu Hurayrah). And from that is also the incident of the accusations of lewdness from the slanderers of A'isha (radhi Allaahu 'anhaa), when he (salallaahu 'alaihi wassallam) did not know her innocence (from the lies against A'isha) until the Aayah was revealed in Soorah an-Noor. And also when the necklace of A'isha (radhi Allaahu 'anhaa) was lost in one of the battles and he (salallaahu 'alaihi wassallam) did not know its whereabouts, and he sent a group to go and search for it, but they were not able to find it - and when her camel stood up, they found it under it. And this is just a few from many Prophetic narrations that are to be found with this meaning. As for that which some of the Soofees think from his (salallaahu 'alaihi wassallam) knowing the Unseen matters and him (salallaahu 'alaihi wassallam) being present in front of them on the occassion of the celebration of his (salallaahu 'alaihi wassallam) [so-called] birthday and other than that, then this is something false with no foundation or [textual] origin to it. And this is something by way of their ignorance of the Qur'aan and the Sunnah and that which the Righteous Predecessors (As-Salafus-Saaleh) were upon. So we ask Allaah for ourselves and for all Muslims goodness from that which they are tried/afflicted with, just as we ask Him, the Most Perfect, that He guides us and them altogether, to His Straight Path - indeed He is the Hearer and One who responds (to those who supplicate to Him). 4 Likes 3 Shares |

Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan from his great work(Masaa'il fil Eemaan).....p18, 19 He categorized this sect "murijite" into four categories ONE: Those who say that eemaan is merely knowledge (ma’rifah), even if this is not accompanied by testification (tasdeeq). This is the statement of the Jahmiyyah. This is the most evil and the ugliest of statements. It is in fact disbelief (kufr) in Allah Azza wa Jall, because the mushrikoon from the early times, and Pharaoh (Firawn), and Haamaan and Qaaroon and (even) Iblees all acknowledged (the existence) of Allaah, Azza wa Jall, in their hearts. However because they did not state this on their tongues, nor testify to this in their hearts, nor act upon it with their limbs, then this knowledge did not benefit them. TWO: Those who say that eemaan is testification in the heart only. This is the statement of the Ashaa’irah (the Ash’arees). This is also a false statement since the disbelievers (kuffaar) testify in their hearts, they know that the Quraan is True and that the Messenger (sal Allaahu alaiyhi wa sallam) is True, and the Jews and Christians know that. Those to whom We gave the Scripture (Jews and Christians) recognise him (Muhammad sal Allaahu alaihi wa sallam) as they recognise their sons; but verily, a party of them conceal the truth while they know it – [i.e. the qualities of Muhammad sal Allaahu alaihi wa sallam which are written in the Tawraat and the Injeel]. (Surah Al Baqarah: 146) And they testify to it in their hearts. Allaah Ta'aala says regarding the Mushrikoon: We know indeed the grief which their words cause you (O Muhammad sal Allaahu alaihi wa sallam); it is not you that they deny but it is the Ayaat of Allaah that the Dhaalimoon (polytheists and wrongdoers) deny. (Surah Al An’aam: 33) So these people did not state upon their tongues nor did they act with their limbs, yet they did testify in their hearts – so they did not become people of eemaan (mu’minoon). THREE: The statement of those who are the direct opposite of the Ashaa’irah - and they are the Karaamiyah. Those who say that eemaan is statement on the tongue even if the person does not truly believe in his heart. Without doubt, this is a false statement since the hypocrites (munaafiqoon) – those who are in the lowest depths of the Fire – say “We bear witness that laa ilaaha ill Allaah and that Muhammad rasool ullaah’ with their tongues and they act (accordingly) with their limbs, but they do not truly believe in that nor do they testify to it in their hearts. This is just as Allaah Ta'aala says: When the hypocrites come to you (O Muhammad sal Allaahu alaihi wa sallam) they say: ‘We bear witness that you are indeed the Messenger of Allaah’. And Allaah knows that you are indeed His Messenger and Allaah bears witness that the hypocrites are liars indeed. They have made their oaths a screen (for their hypocrisy). In this way they hinder (men) from the Path of Allaah. Verily, evil is what they used to do. (Surah Al Munaafiqoon: 1-2) And He says, Subhaanahu wa ta’aala: They say with their tongues what is not in their hearts. (Surah Al Fath: 11) FOUR: The statement of the murji’ah al fuqahaa, and they are the lightest of the groups in terms of irjaa’ - those who say that eemaan is belief (i’tiqaad) in the heart and statement upon the tongue, but action does not enter into it. This is the statement of the Murji’ah al-Fuqahaa and this is a statement which is also incorrect since there is no eemaan without action. When the origin and base of their madhhab rests upon ignorance, then they became the greatest of all the factions in ignorance and lying... The people of knowledge are agreed, by way of transmittal, reporting, and chain of narration that the Raafidah are most lying of all of the factions, and lying amongst them is an ancient matter, and for this reason the Scholars of Islaam used to know that they are distinguished with abundant lying... They say, “Our religion is taqiyyah (deception)”!! And this is that one of them says with his tongue what is other than what is in his heart, and this is lying and hypocrisy... They are greatest of people in opposition to those in authority, and the furthest of the people from obeying them, except under compulsion... What striving is more astray than the striving of the one who tires himself with a lengthy tiring, and indulges in much “al-qaal wal-qeel (i.e. hearsay)”, and separates from the Jamaa’ah of the Muslims, and curses the foremost (in goodness) and the successors after them, and aids the Disbelievers and Hypocrites, and devises many types of stratagems, plots, and traverses whatever paths are possible for him to traverse, and supports himself with false testimony, and who keeps his followers attached by the rope of deception.
