A Facebook user identified as Egbunu Adejoh Jonathan shares a story about Nigerian Education. Read it below;

"If not until that fateful day, I wouldn't have known that what I treasure so much is just a mere chaff. Indeed, all that glitters is no gold!

Upon coming out on that bright saturday morning, I sighted an Aboki man who deals in gold materials. I have been tirelessly looking for one all the while to sell a treasured material! Don't ask me why I wanted to sell a treasure. Country Hard O!

"Aboki, come and buy something", I called boldly as I walked in majestically to bring the material.

" Kai, E no good. No be gold" the Aboki said while indignantly handing me back what I offered him. I told him to check well to be sure of what he was saying but he never bothered to look back as he zoom off.

Well, if you're guessing what it is, it's a gold medal I won from Olympiads quiz competition organized by the National Mathematical Centre during my days in the Pacesetters College, Saint Peter's College Idah.
Pepharps, this Aboki is new to gold I thought to console myself. However, attempts to present the medal to other Abokis ended the same way.

It is no news that much value haven't really been placed on education, which is the bedrock of every society, in Nigeria over the years, hence, the aftermath we see these days. Kindly note that this is not in any way to drag the name of the National Mathematical Centre in the mud as it is not in this alone.

Now, tell me how you will convince a youth that "School is no scam" when the government never made it a priority or attached much importance to it? When frivolities and mediocrities are celebrated and rewarded? When an Aboki wouldn't buy a supposed gold medal for even a Kobo?

Perphaps, other governments might have not done so well as regards education, the present and subsequent ones should invest more in education, make it attractive and fun if Nigera wants to be found among her equals.

The governor possibly be serious. Hopefully he is just fishing for comments. Most schools have over-crowded classes and hostels/dormitories. They can not implement social distancing if all the students resume.

I'll chip in this, cos I like facing reality than anything else...It is possible to always go for test during pregnancy but what if the first 4 or more pregnancies are SS ( God forbid, but we av seen cases like this)?

I've been thinking of creating this thread for a while but laziness won't let me, something finally made me today.

Okay, I will be brief as much as possible.

As fate would have it, I met someone I shouldn't have met, at least not on a normal day. It's too long a story I can't share here. Let me quickly go to the main issue.

It happens that I began to develop feelings for the lady, I did a background check on her, wasn't bad. I was ready to walk down the aisle with her after my degree. I made my intentions known after much deliberation. We discovered that our genotype is both AS. So, they was no point in dating thereafter. This was someone that was driving me crazy.

I wanted to check other laboratories to confirm my genotype, however, laziness and fear of turning out to be still AS has held me back.

My problem now isn't really with this said lady anymore. When it comes to women, I'm kind of very picky.

Owing to the fact I'm AS, I'm always worried about letting go of each and every one of the very scanty type of people I would like if they turned out to be AS like myself. This is my nightmare!

I read online sometimes back how people of the genotype AS can get married without giving birth to a sickle cell child. How true is this?
Has anyone here used any solution to solve this issue? How did it went?
