It's funny how we complain about maladministration by political leaders but fail to address the ones before our very nose. I found out that one has to swear an oath before commenting on an Islamic thread why it is not so on other religious thread, especially the Christians own. I've seen a lot of people complain about this on this forum to no avail. If you want to place an oath on religious thread, why not all? Why the preferential treatment? What is the rationale behind this N*nsense? Seun must be s*ck in the head. |
It was the famous 16th president of the United States of America, Abraham Lincoln that defined democracy as " the government of the people, by the people, for the people". In fact, the term 'democracy' comes from the Greek language and means "rule by the people" . I'm always astonished when I hear people refer to Nigeria as a democratic state as it operate against the rules of democracy. Nigeria started operating the democratic system of government in 1999 following the abolishment of the military rule. Former president, Chief Olusengun Obasanjo became the first democratic leader. Till date, the country is yet to practise democracy in its entirety. It is no secret that Nigeria is a country ruled by the few elites and their cronies at the detriment of the common citizen. This poses question on the type of democracy practised in the country, if it's the one defined by the former United States of America president or otherwise. According to Merriam-Webster dictionary, a democratic setting is one characterised by equality, where everyone is treated fairly. A setting where what is good for the goose is also good for the gander. In Nigeria, the reverse is obviously the case, as the law are only meant for the poor populace. Every now and then, we see news headlines of how activists who speak for the shortchanged common man are being detained illegally without court trial. In what tandem is Nigeria then a democratic state if I may ask? When freedom of speech is not guaranteed. The citizens doesn't have the privilege to elect their leaders as selection is done in most cases by the "Powers that be" instead of election. If Nigeria is practising democracy, it's undoubtedly another type different from the one other countries of world practise. Should we talk about lack of transparency and accountability that characterised the country's governance? The list of Nigeria undemocratic practices goes on and on. In my humble opinion, Nigeria should stop celebrating democracy day when it's not democratic in the real sense of it. What's your opinion about Nigeria being a democratic state? Let's hear you! |

It doesn't matter whether you like the person of president Muhammadu Buhari or not. One thing is common to all great men, their lives teach phenomenal truths and serves as a map to anyone who wants to climb the ladder of greatness. Of course, being someone who has written his name in the annals of history, the life of Muhammadu Buhari is no exception to this universal reality. Born in Daura, Kastina state on 17th december 1942, Muhammadu Buhari who succeeded Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in 2015 is the 4th democratic and current president of the federal republic of Nigeria. As a retired major general, he was also a Nigerian head of state from 1983 to 1985 during the military era. A former and current minister of petroleum, Buhari was also a governor of borno state from 3rd February 1976 to 15th March same year. He had his education at the Nigerian Military Training College and the US War College among others. Married to Aisha Buhari, president Muhammadu Buhari is blessed with not less than ten wonderful children including Yusuf Buhari. In this concise piece, give me the privilege to swiftly walk you through the life lessons which the life of this prominent personality has taught. Anyone who wants to reach the peak of life shouldn't take these lessons with levity. Follow me religiously. ★ His Unyielding Spirit; There's a popular adage in my language that says whoever is patient enough will definitely cook stone. Of course, they don't mean stone literally. It means, nothing is unachievable for a determined and focused soul. This is undoubtedly evident in the life of Muhammadu Buhari. One would recall that, he has consecutively contested for the position of president from 2003 to 2015, when he finally won. Even though he lost out on the election results of 2003, 2007 and 2011 respectively, Buhari was undeterred in his pursuit to occupy the office of the president. Consequentially, he again, contested in 2015 when he rewrites history by being the first opposition candidate to unseat a sitting president in Nigeria. Awesome right? Of course, it is. If you want to achieve unimaginable feat in life, be like Muhammadu Buhari. Be bold and courageous even in the face of adversities. Be determined, focused, resilient and unyielding. You know why? Nothing, yes, you heard me right, nothing can stop a resolved soul. ★ His Good Name; I'm not going to have two minds whether you've heard that a good name is better than gold and riches. Also, the famous author, Robert Greene, in his best selling book " 48 Laws of Power" made us to understand that so much depends on our reputation as far as this life is concerned. Guide it jealously with your life, he went further to admonish. Whether you accept this truth or not, so much depends on your name. Your reputation. If you name is soiled, you really need a miracle to attain any enviable height in life. Perhaps, you might see it as a fallacy when one says Buhari is a man of integrity. The reality is, what was Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar achille's heel in 2015 and 2019 respectively was the horse Buhari rode on, effortlessly to power. People believed Muhammadu Buhari was/is a man of integrity. Whether he's or not, is a discussion for another day. The fact is that, the name " integrity" place him at vintage point over his opponents. This, I'm pretty sure you cannot but agree with me. If there's anything that can be a clog in your wheel of progress, it is your name. Ensure it isn't stained. Emulate Muhammadu Buhari in this aspect. ★ His Ingenuity; I want to believe you've seen the word "buharism". Perhaps, in an online dictionary, on the world's most used internet search engine, Google, or on Wikipedia. Like they would say, honour is given to whom it's due. This is Muhammadu Buhari being honoured for his ingenuity. During the Buhari's military regime, the country plunged into economic recession, he, Muhammadu Buhari, decided to salvage the nation's economy in his own way. The ideology he used was named " buharism", after him. In this life, don't always do it the conventional way if you want to stand out. Improvise! Dare to be different, by so doing, you will write your name in gold. Use your initiative to solve problems. What do you think about this? I saw a news earlier which the director of NIMC was saying less than 100 million Nigerians have any means of identity. Now, my issue is, have they issued ID cards to the ones who have registered for it? I've registered for the National ID card for not less than 3 good years without my ID card. This is an era where banks give ATM cards instantly. What stop NIMC from emulating them. Someone should tell NIMC that we need our National ID card!

It is almost a norm in this part of the world to hear people brag about serving God. Irrespective of the religious affiliation. More often than not, these are still the people who orchestrate all kind of evils against their fellow human. To most of them, serving God is attending religious gathering. Well, far from it. While attending religious gathering is important, there is more to serving God. Keenly follow me as I dissect what it entails to serve God. I'm always taken aback to see people who have shortchanged the common man claiming to serve God. Most Nigerians politicians are good example. To me, you are not serving God when you have lost touch with humanity. The worrisome aspect is seeing suppose religious leaders filled with hatred for one another, exhibiting the Pull Him Down (P.H.D) syndrome. Okay, let's leave that for another day. As long as you do not lift people up when you can, it poses question on the god you claim to serve. When envy, jealousy and wishing your fellow human evils are your hallmarks, you are definitely far from serving God. Perhaps, you serve a different god apart from the Creator of heaven and Earth. Your character should be the truth and fair to all concerned. The bottom line is, God is love. Anyone who claims to serve Him should represent this image. A good student of history need not be told about the Nigerian civil war between the government of Nigeria and the secessionist state of Biafra. The war which spanned three good years, from 6th July 1967 to 15th January 1970 was lead by the formal governor general of the eastern region, chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu. It ensued when the Igbo people felt shortchanged by the then nothern-dominated federal government. Fifty years down the line, the aspirations of the Igbo people remain a mirage. In this piece, I will swiftly walk you through why the Biafra nation might not be independent anytime soon. It is a known fact that there are host of pro-Biafra groups which are not aligned. From the Biafra Independence Organization (BIO), Biafra Clergy Network (BCN), Biafra Zionist Movement to Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) and the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), you name it. There's a popular adage that says, a house divided against itself cannot stand. Unless, one is treading on the path of self-deception. A lot of region and tribes have made their stand known, not being a party to the Biafran struggle. Noticeably is the Niger-Delta region. Another reason the agitation for Biafra Independence might remain illusory is the forceful inclusion of these regions and tribes. Two has to agree before embarking on a journey. Among the pro-Biafra groups, the most popular is the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) lead by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Accompanied with a lot of frenzies, one would think it will bring the Biafra dream to reality. Far from it. The conduct of its leader says otherwise. Kanu undiplomatic approach to crucial issues, especially as pertaining to the tribes and regions who do not want to associate with the struggle is a validation. His unguarded utterances also makes the group to be seen as a comic one by many. With all these lingering issues, one would not be totally wrong to assert that the current struggle for the actualization of the sovereign state of Biafra, might not see the light of the day. It is no longer news that the world is being ravaged by the scourge of the Covid-19 pandemic which has humbled its mighties. The transportation industry is no different ball game as the pandemic spares not a single sector of the world economy. In a jiffy, millions of people around the globe, who eked out a living from the transportation industry have been rendered jobless. A lot of able bodied men and women have been turned to panhandlers as beggary is now the orde r of the day. One cannot but agree with me that the transportation industry is a vital sector of the world economy. The difficulty posed by restrictions of movements on imports and exports in most part of the world is/has crippling/crippled economies of nations. In fact, the effect of lockdown on many countries economy is better imagined than experienced. In this era where movements between countries happens in a couple of hours, no one would have thought that, stepping out from one's room will be a rocket science overnight. Not to mention that of transportation of good and services between countries. In another light, the transportation challenge the world is facing as the result of the coronavirus could be a blessing. Countries, especially third world nations are likely to be forced to produce virtually all their own needs if this lockdown is not ending anytime soon. In fact, some have started improvising. Leaders of developing countries would also be forced to stay within their countries to fix their local challenges instead of junketing across the world. This might be the paradigm shift the future holds. Source; https://news-af.feednews.com/news/detail/acebb1244fb04d27f834bd48f84155fe?client=news

Hello house, I will try to be brief as much as I can. Right from childhood, I've been trying to get rid of this habbit, till this very moment, I still can't. I don't just know what's the cause of this. The problem is, I think (or should I say worry) too much, virtually about everything. I imagine a lot. This has taken away my peace of mind for so long. I can't just rest without thinking, worrying or imagining. Sometimes, I even think about petty things like, is the sun going to rise from the East tommorow or is not going to rise at all? Is this some sickness or what? Please how do I get out of this? |
Hello house, A friend's father is seriously sick and requires financial assistance. Details attached. Please help a fellow human. Thank you so much as you do so. #HumanityFirst
