Super story
So, you don't believe in doing good?
Nairaland GeneralIt Didn't Take Too Long by Adejoncy01(op):
It was on the 31st of December, new year Eve's day, that I finally decided to visit a friend who has been inviting me to their place for a while now.

After having a nice at their place watching movies and eating lots of delicacies, it was time for me to take my leave. Through the bone-chilling weather, as the harmattan spares no one, my friend walked me to a junction where I'll board a taxi. Off he went back to the house leaving me to my fate.

When I thought there's no hope of getting a taxi after I stood at the junction for minutes, perphaps the god of luck was angry with me, a taxi finally appears.

How much will you take me to challenge bus stop? "eighty naira", the driver replied. I didn't hesitate to enter the taxi,I couldn't even stand to ask for a lower price. Well, I wasn't ready to be freezed by the cold, after all, my friend had earlier told me I would be charged same amount.

The car was about moving when a lady approach the driver, "please help me for seventy naira" she begged. Indignantly, the driver moved the car without uttering a word. But, this lady has been standing here before I came, how could she afford to still stand here because of ten naira?, well, what do I know, I said to myself.

After we have moved for some seconds, does this lady not live around here?, does she not know the price?, Perhaps, does she not have the ten naira? Were questions that runs through my mind in a flash. Then, I asked the driver to stop and revert. Earlier, my friend Aunt gave me a thousand naira as my fare, which is five times the actual fare, letting go of a ten naira is actually a tip of the iceberg, I said to myself.

Before we knew it, we had come to the bus stop, she was thanking me as if I bought her a car, I paid the driver and took my leave.

At the bus stop, I couldn't get a taxi going to my destination, I decided to board the one going to the nearest bus stop. On reaching where I was supposed to alight, the driver offered to take me to my destination for free, even though he wasn't going there. This should have cost me additional fifty naira.

I didn't assist the lady for any kind of benefit. But, it didn't take too long before I reap what I sowed. One may say, what is a fifty naira? The fact is, as it is to small things, so it is to big things.

What I'm saying in a nutshell is this; be good and do good to people anytime you can, for what goes around do come around.

Nairaland GeneralBe Bold To Quit Now! by Adejoncy01(op): 9:59am On Dec 31, 2019
It's no longer news that the 2019 calendar year will end in a couple of hours from now. But you know what? I'm here to embold you to "quit now"! Yes, your ears didn't fail you. I mean "quit now"! But, what do I really mean by that?
No one would deny the fact that life itself isn't fair; we are all born equal but not to equal places, some are born with the silver spoon while others without even a spoon. In life, the truth is, some are actually privileged than others.
Perhaps, the yesteryears might have been rough, things might not have gone as wanted, betrayals, loss and all that.
There must certainly be at least, a reason why a relationship, plan, business, pursuit etc won't be successful.
The bottom line is, we will never move forward; looking backward, complaining about our background or considering a reason while we won't be able to move.
If you want to progress in life, as a new calendar year and decade is about to begin, be bold enough to quit now, yes!. Quit complaining about your background, the failures of yesteryears, seeing a reason why something can't be done and move on.

Nairaland GeneralRe: Is It Pride Or Class? by Adejoncy01(op): 7:20pm On Dec 28, 2019

Class is what you are born into or what you achieve. It's no longer commonly used though.

Pride is your personal attribute you feel entitles you.

The two are sometimes used interchangeably but they are not the same.

Nigerians especially, also believe class means pride.
That's people's believe actually, but there aren't the same thing.

Nairaland GeneralThe African Child by Adejoncy01(op): 3:39am On Dec 28, 2019
Well, take a cup of coffee, feel relaxed and follow me keenly as I walk you through the pains of the African child.
Most often than not, one cannot but wonder the type of society we live in.
Looking at the picture below, the first thing that comes to mind is who exactly has failed this young man and his likes in the society? Their parents, the government, or other people in the society. Well, it's really not certain who has failed this category of people, but the glaring truth is that the government has the largest portion of the blame.
While in some other part of the world where education is free and compulsory till adult age for children, the reverse is the case for an African child as no government care whether he/she is educated. While there are free and accessible hospital with world class facilities for children in parts of the world where the leaders don't think anticlockwise, the reverse is the case for the African child. Shelter of any kind is not for the African child. The list goes on and on.
But should we fold our hands and watch this continues to the next generations? Certainly not. Then, what is the way forward? Simple!
First, believe, believe that the African story can be changed. Tremendous things happen to the believer. But is that all? NO! Let us speak unanimously against every form of societal ill Speak up against maladministration, lets become rebels against mediocrity. Lastly, contribute to the society in your own way, you mustn't be in government to effect a change; A word of encouragement, One hundred naira, teaching someone a skill and all lots of that could be a revolution in someone's life.
Together we can grow AFRICA!

Nairaland GeneralIs It Pride Or Class? by Adejoncy01(op): 3:31am On Dec 28, 2019
In as much as they are people that take pride in their talent,beauty,money,skill etc. Majority of persons don't know there is difference between pride and class, look at these;
You can't expect president Donald Trump of the USA to host your local government chairman. What for?-that is class!
You can't expect a good professor of mathematics to study mathematics with a primary school pupil.Why?-this also is class not pride!
You can't expect Bishop David Oyedepo to come to your local church crusade just because your pastor invited him.No Na!
" For the fact that some people tend to compromise their set standards at times should not make us label those that do not as being prideful.Know your CLASS, then you will really know WHO has pride"
