11 reasons why people don't take NG seriously.

1. It is a country where people do the same thing over and over and expect different results. Makes other people question if we are truly smart people.

2. A country where anybody can be president, including indicted criminals, drug barons, and known terrorists. Shows the type of choices we are willing to make or accept.

3. It is where every month is a celebration of a new month. "Happy new month" greetings are passed around 12 times per year. This cheapens the months😀😀

Woman arrested for allegedly selling her eight-month-old baby for N600k so as to settle bank loan

A 33-year-old woman, Olaide Adekunle, has been arrested by men of the Ogun State police command for allegedly selling off her 18-month-old baby to a yet-to-be-identified buyer at the rate of #600,000.

The suspect was arrested following a complain lodged at Sango divisional headquarters by the woman's husband, Nureni Rasaq, who reported that his wife, Olaide Adekunle, left home to Lagos on the 15th of March 2023 with their baby girl by name Moridiat Rasaq, but returned home without the baby. He stated further that all efforts to know what happened to the baby proved abortive as the woman was unable to give any reasonable account of whereabout of the said baby.

Upon the report, the DPO Sango division, CSP Dahiru Saleh, detailed his detectives to go after the said woman, and she was promptly arrested. On interrogation, the suspect confessed that she has sold her baby to someone in Lagos at the rate of six hundred thousand naira (#600,000).

When asked the reason for her action, she stated that she borrowed money from a microfinance bank, and when she was unable to pay back the money, the bank agents started disturbing her and threatening to deal decisively with her. It was consequent upon this that she ran to Lagos and started hawking sachet water. She said it was while hawking that she met a man who introduced her to the woman that eventually bought the child in Lagos .

Confirming the arrest, the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the acting Commissioner of Police, DCP Babakura Muhammed, has directed that the suspect be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Departments for further investigation and possible recovery of the baby. 0

Your professorship or PhD is not equal to universal knowledge.

Many years ago, I did a driving test and failed. I failed because I made a rolling stop, instead of a complete stop, at an intersection before proceeding to make a right turn. To be fair, I did stop, but apparently so briefly that it was unnoticed by the driving examiner who sat next to me in the car.The stop sign did say ''stop all way''; it did not just say ''stop''. With a ''stop all way'' my thinking was that every other car would have to stop as well, and me being the first to get to the intersection I could go. So, off I zoomed with only a rolling stop, forgetting that I was being examined (But ignorance no be excuse oooo😀😃). I learned the hard way that rolling stops are automatic fail.

Later in the day, I told a friend that I failed my driving test, and he was shocked. ''But you have a PhD and should not fail a simple thing as a driving test'', he said. To begin with, a driving test in the US is not a ''simple thing''; there are several components that people fail regularly, including parallel parking. Secondly, my PhD was not obtained in driving. So, when it comes to testing for driving, I can be as good or bad as a primary school certificate holder who is doing a driving test.

What does all of this mean? It means that most people's academic knowledge is limited to what they studied. The rest is common sense that guides how we navigate issues outside our academic training. Which brings me to the subject of Wole Soyinka. Wole Soyinka may be an expert of literature. But that is about it. He is not an expert in conflict management or psychology or human relations. He could fail in many other areas, as he did in the National Road Safety Corps when IBB appointed him in the 80s. That is why he also failed when he described people protesting against clear election rigging and disenfranchisement last February as fascistic.

Now, what is fascism? Fascism is a political philosophy, movement, or regime that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition. None of these attributes characterize Peter Obi or his supporters. The other side is the side that has been tribalistic (YOU CAN CALL IT RACIST); that has used religion as a weapon; and that has used state power to suppress others and showed a tendency toward and actually exercising strong autocratic or dictatorial control. Obi and Obidients have mostly been reactionary and respond in kind to what the other side dish out to them. They are not the ones in power. They are not the ones who rigged elections; they are not the ones who sent thugs to kill people and burn their businesses. Did Wole Soyinka not see that?

The simple lesson in all of this is that we should not arrogate omniscience and omnipotence to any single individual, not to my late father, not to Soyinka, and not to me. Soyinka is a literary guru. But he is not a psychologist or a political expert or anything like that. I am a confirmed Obedient; and if anyone, including Soyinka, calls me a fascist, I will in my defense, have to have a word or two for them.
