Name one. We are talking of tradition, not wives of governors (mere politicians)
PoliticsIgbo-yoruba Politics: The Yoruba Lady Who Was Queen In Igboland by Adelaide2(op): 4:03pm On Apr 02, 2023
As copied from Facebook

The Yoruba Lady who was queen in Igboland

A Yoruba lady, Adebimpe Abimbolu, was a queen in Ndikelionwu town in Anambra State, between 2008 and 2021. (13 years). Her husband, Igwe Chukwuemeka Ike, was a well-known professor, author, and former Head of WAEC. He was born into a royal family.

Upon retirement he went back home to Ndikelionwu to assume the position of Igwe (king). His wife became the queen. Igwe Prof Ike died in 2020. They had an only son who was the prince but died in 2016 before his father.

Prof Ike studied at the UI and Stanford University in the US. He had met and married his wife at the UI in 1959. Queen Adebimpe Abimbolu Ike died in 2021, one year after her husband.

Some of Igwe Ike's novels include:

Toads for Supper (London: Harvill Press, 1965)
The Naked Gods (London: Harvill Press, 1970)
The Potter's Wheel (London: Harvill Press, 1973)
Sunset at Dawn (Collins & Harvill Press, 1976)
Expo '77 (Fontana, 1980)
The Chicken Chasers (Fontana, 1980)
The Bottled Leopard (1985)
Our Children Are Coming (Ibadan: Spectrum Books 1990)
Conspiracy of Silence (Longman, 2001)

I have been privileged to read the first seven of those books.

RIP professor Igwe Chukwuemeka Ike.

PoliticsPrayers For Obi, Atiku, Tinubu, INEC And Oluomo by Adelaide2(op):
My prayers for Obi, Atiku, Tinubu, INEC and Oluomo. I say these prayers with the full understanding that causeless prayers shall not alight, but that causefull prayers shall.

1. IF Obi truly won the election may he recover his victory and go on to be president. But IF he actually lost, may he realize that fact sooner than later and congratulate the winner, so peace can reign.

2. IF Atiku truly won the election may he recover his victory and go on to be president. But IF he actually lost, may he realize that fact sooner than later and congratulate the winner, so peace can reign.

3. IF Tinubu truly won the election and was qualified to contest in the first place, may he be crowned president and may his "reign" be very successful for NG.
But IF he actually lost and turned around to usurp another person's victory, thereby plunging the country into a potential sociopolitical crisis, may he not complete his term and may he face a horrible end.

IF INEC in 2023 conducted a free, fair and efficient election to the true best of its ability, may the names of its handlers be written with a golden pen in the annals of history. But IF INEC rigged the election thereby subverting the will of the people, may all of those at INEC involved meet a terrible and unspeakable personal condition this year.

IF Musiliu Akinsanya aka Oluomo actually threatened voters, thereby disenfranchising them and infringing upon their human rights, may he face a certain horrible end, and may all he ever possessed, living or otherwise, face deep deprivation, humiliation and sorrow. If he did not do any of these things, may he live long to enjoy life to the maximum extent possible...

Amen!!

Where is Kwara state today? In a place called North something or in a place called South something? If it makes you happy replace geography with politics.

Most likely yes. I don't disagree. It will take strong diplomatic overtures to get those guys into the Igbo country.

forget about land boundaries which is what is confusing you,if we go our separate ways, for example Igbos excluding the ones in Cross River,Delta and Rivers State, let's assume those go with Nigeria,we will still have access to the sea because our River runs directly to the Atlantic ocean which is how others got the sea too,no one has the sea so once you have direct access to the sea you can use it,I wish someone with more vast knowledge on this matter can lecture you well
No one has the sea? You obviously don't know your maritime laws. The owner of the land adjacent to the sea owns the sea up to several 10s if not 100s, of nautical miles outwards. That aside, the points where the rivers you are going to be dredging run into the ocean belongs to non Igbos. They may not give permission to you.

Myopism is a total disaster unless you are one. You analysis of investment is a street gossip.

Those investing in other countries, are they now dislocated because they invested in other countries.

Moreover in Nigeria settings I HV avoided arguing on base I am igbo or not but fact as laid.

If the Igbos currently in other countries with investment here and there weren't dislocated and still pay taxes who will then dislocate them of their investment.

Say something else.
If Nigeria is a zoo like many of us Igbos believe, then if we separate you should expect animosity that would result in unilateral seizures of properties from different sides. You think any international body can resolve that on time?

Yorubas should stop telling themselves lies, because it is obvious thru can't stand the blink of decapitation of Nigeria and the devastating effect on them..

Is there something you guys are not telling us?

Secondly what do you mean dislocation of Investment, So Igbos in Ghana, US , britain and pay their taxes now have dislocated investment?

What class did you stop before you joined street gossip?

Yorubas should leave Nigeria now , afterall you won't be missed, so stop massaging una failed ego.

Alakija became rich by oil that is not in Yorubaland and not by any other investment.

Otedola became rich because Obasanjo gave him 90% license of kerosene/crude importation.

Why do you guys choose to earn peanuts while some northerners milk you dry, I am sure if you can initiate this breakup south south will be an amazing country, you have all the ammunitions down and your militants too, what's stopping you guys from being free from these leeches hosting on you, using your money to sponsor terrorism up and down, why are you guys just looking? There will be war over sea access between Igbos and South South. South East don't have access to sea except if they convince Ikwerres and Opobos to join the Igbo country. That's why the post says "unquestioned access".

Fair assessment but a yoruba nation will not be glitters like you think. Religious tension which is already simmering as seen in the back and forth tirades between MURIC and CAN headed by a yoruba as well as the Kwara hijab controversy, may take a dangerous turn into violence or even division if not handled with care.
Agreed. But it says Yoruba will do better earlier. Not that it would not have problems at all. Yoruba better forget Kwara, otherwise they will go to war with the North and will likely lose.

PoliticsMan Predicts What Happens To New Countries If Nigeria Breaks Up by Adelaide2(op): 5:26pm On Apr 14, 2021
As seen on Facebook

"Here is my prediction for the different components of Nigeria if it breaks up. Only four countries are likely to emerge.

1. The Yoruba will start off much easier than others. The Yoruba have some of the aces (relatively homogenous, access to sea, relatively organized socio-politico-economic system, educated human resources) to start surviving quickly.

2. The Igbo have all that the Yoruba have, except for unquestioned access to sea. But they will suffer seriously for the first couple of years, due to the obvious dislocation of their investments all over Nigeria. There will be chaos due to competition and lack of centralized leadership.. But they will bounce back and become very strong. They will catch up with the Yoruba at some point.

3. The South South will descend into seemingly unending inter ethnic chaos over language, culture, resource allocation, as well as the geographical dislocation (compare location of Cross River to Edo) of their new country.

4. The North will continue life almost as usual (religious problem and insecurity, and subjugation of minorities). They will get poorer over time. But many are already so poor that it really does not matter anymore. As long as the non Muslims don't give any problem, the North will not suffer more than it is doing now. They have the ample land for agriculture. They will adjust to survive.

Note that these are predictions, not prophesies. Good luck."
