Kofoworola, the wife of Lagos socialite, Kayode Badru, who died during deliverance in Lagos church has allegedly been assaulted and arrested by his family.

According to reports making the rounds, the widow was on Thursday, July 1, arrested and detained by his family for allegedly conspiring with his pastor to burn him to death.

The Lagos socialite died on Wednesday, May 5, 2021,  after his pastor allegedly sprayed perfume on him while holding a lit candle.

He had visited the Celestial Church of Christ for prayers and asked to kneel down while surrounded by seven elders and several lit candles, when the unfortunate incident happened.

Narrating her ordeal in the hands of his family, specifically his brother, Gbenga Badru, Kofoworola said, “My husband’s younger brother claim that I conspired with the pastor to roast my husband to death, because of his properties. 

He wrote a petition against me at Alagbon Police Station. In the petition, it was written that I don’t have family and I’m an orphan and that I conspired with the pastor to k*ll my husband because of money. They also accused me of moving and selling things from the house the night he died. 

I was picked up on July 1, which is the first day I went out of the house after my 41 days mourning, I was made to sleep at the station, even after I told them I have a one-year-old baby. I was only released on bail the next day being July 2 and I have been asked to report at the station tomorrow, Monday. 

On the night my husband died, while we were at the mortuary, my husband brother claimed that I didn’t greet him and beat the hell out of me despite knowing that I recently had surgery.

The whole family came to the house the following day and ordered everybody out that they wanted to lock the house. They arrested me even though they know I have no relationship with the pastor. They also claim I bribed police officers at Panti not to give them the autopsy report. 

I’m very scared, I have two kids, age 3 and one, my body has been shaking since that day till now, I’m traumatized.”

I wonder why anyone, especially young men like this will be engaged in crime. Nigerian prisons are super filthy. It's a different world on its own. The health care sucks, and over 300 inmates are assigned to one toilet; imagine the several diseases these inmates are living with. Your freedom is taken. Food is trash. Violence will be a new way of life. Over population. Oppression from higher ranking inmates. You'll have to fight your way to even eat or get certain things. Sexual abuse from all those drug-addicted inmates. Extortion, both materially, financially and physically. So many things should discourage crime. The prison officials could even misplace ( MOST times on purpose) your case file, so your freedom may even be totally gone.You"ll be treated worse than an animal. Only top criminals(e.g. those fine boys sitting on the bunks) or people with money usually get special treatment in prison, which shouldn't be so. Shun crime, especially if you're poor in Nigeria.

This is pathetic and very pitiable.......God have mercy

see life....many years later while working on a project in Port harcourt yheir was need for a consultant soil mechanical engineer and i told a colleague guessed who he told to call me for d post the supposed lecturer i ks told him point blank alaye e no go happen for this life .na me b d student wey u dey victimise that year.this job u no go get am and it was highly rewarding consultancy money wise!

The news of his death broke hours ago and according to reports, the student of Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State in the Eastern Nigeria was poisoned to death by a yet- to- be- identified person, on Saturday, July 3. He was the only child of his mother says instablog9ja who broke the news.

This news have thorned many people apart. The comment section on his last posts on Instagram and Facebook is ridden with lamentation and pain from fans.

Many people says those who did this to him will surely pay for it. Causing a poor woman to be childless at this time of her life.

More comments from the blog that broke the news. So much pain and anger from people. Such a fine gentleman with lots of potential cut in his prime all for what?

The details about this sad incident is yet to be known fully, but it' s sad that we live in such world today where evil people feel they can take the life of another just because they are envious of his/her success.
