How to Win MTN Foundation Scholarship

MTN is a multinational cooperative with branches in various African countries. MTN started its foundation programme far back in september 2004, and since then they have touched over a million lives positively. The majority group who really reap from the vine yard of this foundation include but not limited to undergraduate students(both healthy and physically challenged), primary and post-primary schools across the country, young and talented artists, young entrepreneurs and the sick. Now we move on to the next aim of this article.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION
MTN Scholarship is offered by MTN Nigeria. This gives Nigerian undergraduates the opportunity to receive a stipend of N200,000 yearly for the duration of their programme. This scholarship is actually meant for students with Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA ) of 3.50 and above on a scale of 5.00 or its equivalent.


DETAILS ON HOW TO BE A BENEFICIARY
Before we go on with this issue we want you to have it at the back of your mind that getting a scholarship is not all by human-effort; God determines. We now begin.

YOUR APPLICATION:
Unlike other scholarships this stage is very important for eligible students. This is because MTN are very critical when selecting the applicants for their examination and in addition to that, roughly half of those shortlisted for the examination will be awarded the scholarship (this article is written in 2015 and everything here is based on phase(1-5) of the scholarship). So once you are shortlisted for the examination you are almost there. With this, we advice you to be careful with your application. The major factor they use for shortlisting candidates at this stage is the essay written by candidates. Try to study about essays before you start writing your essay in order for you to know the best format and structure to use. Also, after writing your essay try to edit it at least three time before you submit. We hope you know that this is all about N200,000 yearly. So anything worth doing is worth doing it well. Pray to God for favour.

PREPARING FOR THE EXAMINATION:
MTN Scholarship examination is conducted by JAMB and we believe you have written JAMB examination before. If you are shortlisted please try as much as you can to get a past question on MTN Scholarship Examination. But if you are not able to get one do not bother yourself, you can go for any general text questions like GMATS, DRAGNET etc. Then practise. Know it that in this preparation you are not only trying to broaden your knowledge rather you must also learn how to increase your reading speed, reasoning skill, and problem solving. Do not forget that you will write the examination with pool of intellects. The areas you need to concentrate in your preparation include

Quantitative reasoning
Numeric reasoning
Verbal reasoning
Logical reasoning
Grammatical expression
Synology
Analogy
Current affairs
Diagrammatic reasoning
Computer Science(basic knowledge).
Please try to look into other materials.
We know you are tensed up by now. But calm down, the exam is as easy as you can ever think of. It only requires your brain to be smart.

EXAMINATION DAY:
Hmmm…Here comes the D-DAY!
Honestly, if you are not strong on this day you will be intimidated even before the exam starts. This is as a result of bright and brilliant faces you will see at the examination centre that day. But do not panic, just follow the advice bellow;

Pray to God before you leave your house.
Have the faith that you have gotten it already.
Get to the examination centre one hour before time.
Eat well before leaving for the exam.
Go with all necessary credentials
Know your account details(DYA) as they will be required for verification.
Do not allow yourself to be intimidated by others rather be the one intimidating them.
But do not esteem yourself too high(Be humble within yourself. In fact see yourself as the least among them who wants to be the best ).
During the exam try to replicate what you have practised. But be calm with that.
Do not waist a second on any question you do not know.
If you are not good/fast in mathematics please skip it and revisit it later if time permits. It consumes a lot time.
If it remains 20 minute for the examination to end and you still have a lot of question to answer, please do guess work on the remaining questions(this works for many).
Try to submit, at least 5 minutes before time.
Last but not the least, be time conscious. Do not dwell on questions for long.
They are not only looking at how well you know but also how fast and smart you can be. We reiterate, it is a pool of intellects.
