The Nigerian Police have reported arrested a Boko Haram leader identified only as Umar.
According to The Punch, the arrest was made by the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team on Thursday.
According to an Instagram post by a member of the operative that ensure the arrest, Umar was behind the Kuje and Nyanya bombings in Abuja in 2015.
He added that the suspect was the most wanted leader of the insurgents.

Abiodun’s Governorship Candidacy Challenged In Court
The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Adedapo Abiodun, has been caught in a messy scandal that could see him disqualified as the flag-bearer of the ruling party in the February 2019 gubernatorial election.

Mr Abiodun, a renowned oil and gas executive from Ijebu Remo, is facing allegations that he evaded national service after graduating from the university in the 1980s, and claimed in his nomination form that he does not have a university degree in order to deceive his party and the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Kwara State Police command has warned politicians in the state against buying Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) from the electorate.
Spokesman of the command, Ajayi Okasanmi told The Guardian in Ilorin yesterday, that the act is a criminal offence under the Constitution and Electoral Act.
The police said: “We are yet to get any formal report on this allegation. But one thing that is unambiguous is that it is a crime. We are going to invoke all the powers under the law to bring those involved to book, when they are reported to us and we confirm them to be true.”

Ahead of the Yuletide, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has launched total war on Yahoo Boys who specialise in defrauding unsuspecting foreigners on the internet, Punch Metro reports.

The operation codenamed ‘Cyber Storm’, will involve EFCC operatives monitoring suspicious transactions especially by youths who cannot explain their source of wealth.
The commission will also deploy its agents in nightclubs and concerts where youths usually go to “pop” expensive champagne.
The anti-graft agency will also be monitoring social media accounts of suspected fraudsters who usually show off their expensive cars and houses.
Confirming the development, the Spokesman for the EFCC, Mr. Tony Orilade, said, “The chairman, Ibrahim Magu, has constituted a Special Task Force on Internet Fraud.
The task force, is made up of personnel from ICT, Public Affairs, Operations and Special Control Unit against Money Laundering.”
As part of the operation, the EFCC has already arrested over 50 suspected online fraudsters in the last 10 days in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Ibadan.

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, has posed ten questions President Muhammadu Buhari must answer.

Osinbajo Lists His Duties As Vice President
Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo says he is not a spare tyre to the president, emphasizing that his roles as the number two citizen are spelt out in the constitution.

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has promised the state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) a monthly subvention of N1 million, and donated a car to the office of the chairman.
He made the promise at the weekend while handing over an office complex built and furnished by his administration for the congress.
The governor said that the NLC had become a vital institution that should be supported to function effectively.
He used the opportunity to direct that each worker be given N10,000 as Christmas bonus.

Wabba Insists Governors Can Pay 30,000 Minimum Wage
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has urged Governors to include the payment of the new national minimum wage in their 2019 Appropriation Bills.
This, according to NLC, will be the only way to avoid friction and crisis in the new year, adding that the state governments are buoyant enough to pay the N30, 000 being demanded for workers as minimum wage.
NLC President Ayuba Wabba told The Nation in a chat that the minimum expectations from workers as the President presents the national budget “is for provisions to be made in the budget for the implementation of the minimum wage.”

Two persons were reportedly killed, while others sustained various degrees of injuries in a violent clash between two rival cult groups in a supremacy battle at Baiyeku, Ikorodu area of Lagos State.
Members of the cult groups, Aiye and Eiye confraternities, were said to have engaged each other in a fierce battle at Awobo and Shelewu areas of Igbogbo-Baiyeku, Ikorodu.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the clash, which caused commotion in the areas, was later put under control by the 63 Police Mobile Force (PMF) in Igbogbo-Baiyeku.
Narrating how it happened, Saheed Aleje, the Baale of Baiyeku, told NAN that the fracas started around the evening of Wednesday.

A man in Alesa community, Eleme, Rivers State, has reportedly killed his four children before hanging himself.

The man who killed his four children, also allegedly attacked his wife with a machete last night, but she narrowly escaped. Though what led to the incident is not yet known, however it was further gathered that he set his house ablaze and hanged himself. His wife however alerted residents of the area, however they arrived quite late.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected Senator Buruji Kashamu as its governorship candidate in Ogun State.
It said this in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, on Monday following a rally held by the senator in Ijebu Igbo town in the state.
The opposition party accused Senator Kashamu of being desperate to destabilise it, describing the rally as “the height of ridicule”.
It alleged that the senator held a sham campaign rally, rented an audience and presented a fake PDP flag to himself.
The PDP said its National Chairman, Uche Secondus, has since handed over the real flag to its “authentic” candidate, Ladi Adebutu.
“Nigerians are aware that Senator Buruji never purchased PDP nomination form; never participated in our governorship primary or in any process related to nomination of governorship candidate of our party or any position whatsoever,” the statement said.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has, contrary to the impression that he is supporting Atiku Abubakar presidential bid, claimed that he has no anointed candidate as the 2019 general election approaches.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has charged the National Assembly to save the country’s democracy by immediately overriding President Muhammadu Buhari’s refusal to sign the amendment of the Electoral Act.
The PDP said “this legislative action has become imperative, as the President’s decision is a calculated attempt to hold the nation to ransom, inject crisis into the electoral process and ultimately scuttle the conduct of next year’s general elections, seeing that there is no way he can win in a free and fair contest.”

President Muhammadu Buhari, will be presiding over a `Special’ Federal Executive Council meeting on Friday to disclose solely on 2019 draft budget proposal.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, made this known when he briefed State House correspondents at the end of the Council’s meeting.

Gov. Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun has said he has no plans to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC) to contest the senatorial election in 2019 while ensuring the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He also said aggrieved party members who defected to the Allied People’s Movement (APM) have his blessings.
This Amosun said today in Abeokuta at a stakeholders meeting of the APC which was attended by his preferred governorship candidate and the flag bearer of APM, Adekunle Akinlade.

The civil society joint action committee, a coalition of civil society organisations in the country, has hinted that electoral violence will be experienced in about 20 states of the federation.
According to the CSOs, these states frequently acquire violence on a weekly bases, which are not reported.
Addressing journalists in Abuja on Friday, Chidi Odinkalu, senior team manager for the Africa programme of the Open Society Justice Initiative, said the violence across the states is a source of serious concern.
The CSOs also stated that it has placed on alert relevant stakeholders to ensure that violence situations are prevented and handled properly.

Nigerians have not stopped talking as Deji Adeyanju, the Convener of Concerned Nigerians, was today arrested by the officers of Nigeria Police while leading a protest tagged ‘Police Are Not Politicians, Save Our Democracy’ in Abuja.
The protest was to demand the non-involvement of the Police in the forthcoming 2019 general election.

APC Dislodges Blame Over Soldiers Killed At Metele Borno State
The killing of over hundred soldiers by Boko Haram at their Metele Base In Borno State has generated continuous conflict between All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party as they continue to blame each other.
Recall that Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the PDP had asked Buhari to explain the death of the soldiers, accusing the President and his administration of using the Nigeria Military for his campaign instead of security.
