There are usually bad eggs in every profession. But Drs are usually held to a higher standard and most meet that standard. I think there are more cases of nurses and female patients throwing themselves at doctors and harrasing them than the reverse. |
BloomingDale:You know very well you can't stand each other. You need men to create the structures by which you can have a meaningful existence. |
Everything is wrong with the gender bill. Diversity for the sake of diversity is an evil on its own. It's not different from the quota system which is based in ethnicity rather than competency. Quota system should only be used when scarce resources should be distributed. But when it comes to doing a job the best and most capable hands should be employed. People should earn what they have in life based on their competency and how hard they are ready to work to be selected out of several competent people. No position in politics is given to anybody on a silver platter. If the women want anything then let them do what the men do to and outdo them to get it. Men and women should be given equal opportunities, but the outcomes should purely be based on ability and competence. |
ReadaDream:Please don't let that discourage you. There are good and bad days. From what I see on the map, there have been better days but it's not so bad. No route to earning a living is easy. |
Felicity0001:Thanks for your comment. If you go through the write up you will realize that every concern you just listed was addressed. 1 the home zone is based on a drivers home address. It's not very likely that there isn't at least one driver living in an area covered by a circle of 15 km diameter in fact there will surely be overlaps. But in the rare case of there being no drivers within the homezone in which a request originates, the nearest drivers from other homezones will be sent the request with a surge factor added to it to encourage them to take it. Infact the size of the home zone can be made larger or smaller based on the state of operation. Reason for homezone is some drivers are not used to some areas. Like I am not very used to ikorodu and alimosho areas. I don't even live near. Cos of that I will be very unwilling to accept requests to those areas at night. In such cases knowledge of routes and terrain is very essential, i most likely will be stranded if one has car trouble, medical or other emergencies. But within Sangotedo, Ogidan, Awoyaya and Abijo and environs where I live i know how to move in most emergencies, I even know certain places to park my car if I have to come back next day with a mechanic. |
streetsoldier1:I appreciate that you are keying into this driver owned app. Some of us will want to introduce a feature called a home zone. Which will be an area enclosed by a certain radius say 15kilometers around a drivers address. (Within the home zone it is assumed that the driver is familiar with most routes and the activities of law and traffic enforcement officers and know how to navigate around obstacles within homezones. Within his homezone it will be assumed he knows how to move and handle emergencies like car troubles, location of nearest mechanic and other useful facilities.) Drivers will be scored based on the amount of ride request they accept that originate and end within their home zones. Any request that sends them outside of the home zone should not be mandatory and should incur a surge tarrif to encourage drivers to accept it and should be treated like an indriver request where all drivers see the request and compete to accept it. After the first trip outside his home zone drivers can opt to continue receiving request outside his zone or be forewarded requests that take him back to his zone. Towards night, drivers should automatically start receiving requests towards their homezone unless they opt to continue outside their homezones. If enough drivers are not nearby to satisfy a given request then it should be treated like an indriver trip with surge factor added where all the nearest available drivers outside that area will see it and compete for it . 2 pickups longer than 5 kilometers will have the extra kilometers billed along with the trip or another mode of compensation worked out where the rider is not unfairly billed. This is important cos it's easy for drivers to lose money on long pickups. 3 Minimum.fare should be N800 4 One inspection should be done yearly. That's my 2 cents for now. The last one is actually a quality control issue. |
IgiveLadiesBj:Let her go and book a journey with baba ibadan at the motor park and tell him to switch on his A.C. They don't know when they have it good. Useless entitled lady. |
northbird:Thats because there is hunger in the land. Some drivers are owing mechanics, house rent, school fees etc. News of strike no settle with them at all. This is what companies like bolt capitalize on. They need you poor to control, take advantage and worsen your situation. If you want to know how evil and wicked people can be then put them in an environment where they won't be held accountable for their actions, That is the entitlement bolt gives it's riders on every trip they force us to accept. I still think the best we can do as a group is pay developers to create our own app, which will be the default app for drivers in this business nationwide. That way a strike against any of the other companies will be more effective as it doesn't cut into our income. If every driver moves to the app riders will have to do so because the demand for the service will still be there. We will need to have some good management and quality control also to balance drivers welfare with passengers needs. With an ehailing drivers population of more than 10000 drivers. I think this will be easily achievable in a short time with good leadership. |
BAZ001:Even if anybody answers I doubt it will be taken seriously. We lack leadership with integrity and internal organization. Those are issues that need to be addressed first. By nature we really don't know ourselves or how many we are. I am sure a large number of us don't visit nairaland. So it will be difficult to actually disseminate information. Some have already taken to the roads before 5am this morning not knowing anything about a planned strike. We first of all need to find a way to know ourselves our numbers and a means for identifying genuine bolt drivers, after which we can organise ourselves into groups by zones, lga, states, etc. Then we get leadership in each of these units and find a way to disseminate information securely for purposes like this. |
ReadaDream:These bolt guys are full of lies nothing is being passed on to the rider. They have increased their commissions. There is an amount of fuel that I buy that used to consistently give me gross returns of 20000 naira and a bit above. Now it barely gives me 18000. Even the mileage no longer tallies. |
Sagay212:Ur not being very fair to the drivers. They are the operators but they get treated like trash. They take all the risks. Even on your worst, most dangerous and high stress trips that damage your car bolt makes profit. What's is bolts driver welfare policy? They don't have any. So on any journey you accept ur on your own. With the added stress of threading on eggshells around entitled, and outright rude and nasty riders who use your upholstery to wipe their hands after eating. You can't correct them so they don't rate you low. Multiple times a day we drive on roads that so bad even animals avoid them, just to fulfil a ride. I once took a rider tthrough a bad road around igbo efon. The road was heavily flooded and the rocks on the road where so sharp they could tear your tyres. I was wondering how someone could put another person's car through this, when I heard rider telling the person he was going to visit on the phone that because the road is bad he took a bolt so as not to destroy his car. Yet bolt expects your car to be in tip top shape after every 4 months. We all know that we are disposable to them as the country has high employment and poverty rates, these are what the E hailing companies especially bolt capitalize on . They keep you busy pursuing peanuts to survive till they replace you. How much does Uche or other bolt staff earn compared to drivers who actually do the work? Let's face it driving under conditions giving by Bolt is stress and I am sure more than eighty percent of the divers on the platform will leave if a less stressful way of making 200k a month presents itself. Most if us are in it till our exit plan materializes, let's not act as if the working conditions are comparable to google. So allow those who want to complain to do so, it's the easiest way they can release stress by mouthing off and getting encouraged by others who go through the same thing but have found a way to live with it. |
MoonlightDrive:They have been more consistent than bolt. Its only wise to have them as backup as bolt is now asking drivers to make bricks without straw. |
YeyeGbami:At this point I think it's time for us e hailing drivers to build our own app and support it unanimously. Bolt is taking drivers for granted with their new policies. Cos when bad routes destroy your cars and leave you stranded in unknown territory, they will still collect their commissions and register new drivers to replace you. Non of their new policies put the drivers welfare into consideration. It's always about their pockets. In the meantime convert as much of your bolt client to offline clients and move en mass to uber and Indriver. Till the new app owned and operated by ehailing drivers is ready. |
pope191:Sorry but none of those companies are loyal to you. Especially bolt. They are only loyal to their money. Riders enter your car and become bosses that can rate you low and get you deplatformed for not destroying your car for them. Riders will be acting as they like in a car and giving you attitude and you will just be like a mumu praying for the ride to quickly end so the rider can leave your car in peace and good rating. Do they compensate you anytime they send you to bad roads that spoil your ac compressor or tyres? Abeg every body in this hustle, both drivers and e hailing companies are only loyal to themselves and their money. |
Funnyandviral:Please ignore, as giving attention to such statements can distract from the mood of the thread. Not everyone has good timing on when to bring up a subject. May his soul rest in peace. |
Good morning, are there any appropriate areas to drop and pickup passengers in Lagos Island? Especially on roads like Marina, Broad street, Tinubu square, TBS, UBA etc.? I usually avoid such areas due to over-vigilant latsma officials. I have been stopped by them twice for just tapping my phone to accept a request. But I was lucky, the road ahead was clear each time so I just took off. But there are times i get mostly requests going to those areas especially when I am in V.I or Ikoyi. Any tips will be appreciated. |
Felicity0001:Will answer ur questions as best I can. I use a vivo y12 with octocore processor. I drive a Toyota Camry 2003. 2.4l engine. I stay just before Abijo but I leave my house between 6and8am. And I put on my bolt driver's app while driving out of my house till I get to skymall where I wait for my first request. I sometimes get a request b4 then. I try to accept and deliver on every request before 5pm. After which I start driving towards the island and set my destination towards my house. It doesn't work all the time. Sometimes I get to ikoyi or vi without a ride towards my house and I release the lock and free it accepting only one or two short rides. Evening traffic usually is bad on the island. But every once in a while I get one or two good request going towards my house. For long trips I can accept pick ups of up to 10minutes. And wait for about 5 minutes. There are times the riders changed their minds while on a long trip but it's not often. The major fault is that the average time inbetween conclusion of a ride and getting a new request is too long. Especially in areas with surge. It reduces at night. Hope u can help with the info supplied. |
Pearl1910:Ha ha, I stay after Sangotedo. But I wait at skymall for my 1st ride. The problem is recently I wait a long time in between rides b4 I get another request. Even in areas painted red with surge. The only thing I haven't done is to switch to mtn for data. Maybe that's the problem. |
ReadaDream:Lagos |
Godfather10:Please show me how. I already average 12 hrs a day + the occasional 2hrs driving home empty. I barely meet 100k gross a week. The request are not frequent even in surge areas. I can move around in an area with surge for between 45minutes to 1hr 30 minutes before getting a request. If there is something I am missing or have to learn please let me know. |
Good morning dear Colleagues, Recently I noticedon bolt that I will be in an area with surge and still not get a request for more than an hour. Does anybody know what causes this? |
I am interested in the moringa seeds. Whats your location.? |
Good morning, They are really rugged. |
sbot:Thanks |
Good day Nairalanders, bolt has been telling me my inspection is due. So I took some time about 4 days to work on some issues with the car. I was through yesterday. Out of curiosity I switched on my driver's app and found out that I was still active. Is this normal as I am 4 days overdue for inspection? Please can anyone give me the location to their inspection center along lekki- Epe expressway? Thanks |
