These above quotes are shamelessly st.pid.

To maintain these wicked mindset in response to such misfortune of other people is proof that goats are more socially functional than some humans.

In bid to rush to comment, you all above have shown your gross ignorance of the society you are part of. You obviously don't know about socioeconomic life outside the streets where you live. Not only fulanis own cattle herds in the north. Even if this herd belongs to a Fulani, how can you not feel sympathy for this misfortune? Are you a better person than boko haram marauder by condemning him to misfortune simply because he's a Fulani man? Is he no more human? Now you have a clear proof that the Fulani man is also a victim in this madness, rather than showing sympathy, you gloat over his misfortune.

You lack knowledge, good judgement, wisdom and empathy. I hope this st.upidity is not borne our of some religious sentiments either, otherwise you deity of worship must be doubly embarrassed with this inhumanity.

ryd3:
This story is touching. How many more would be frustrated even before reaching the labour market?

Medical Students of the Benue State University, Makurdi, have deposited the coffin of their dead colleague at the office of the Vice-Chancellor in protest.

SUNDAY PUNCH gathered that the deceased, Idoko Nicholas Inalegwu, died in controversial circumstances after receiving the news of his withdrawal after spending 10 years in medical school.

Idoko was withdrawn for failing a re-sit.

A student, who spoke to one of our correspondents on telephone on condition of anonymity, said they believed that Idoko took his life because he could not bear the news that his 10 years in medical was in vain.

“He had been talking about it; that he wished he died a painless death; that the school had finished him. There is nowhere in the world that a medical student is withdrawn after spending 10 years,” he said.

The student said the students had complained about the manner in which examinations were conducted, where re-sits were prolonged for up to one year, as against the stipulated six weeks, with no efforts to engage the students.

The students, after an altercation at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital mortuary, obtained the coffin of their dead colleague and marched to the VC’s office, vowing not to leave until their grievances were resolved.

All efforts to reach the Vice-Chancellor, Mrs. Charity Angya, for comments proved been abortive as she neither picked several calls made to her mobile phone nor responded to a text message sent to her as of the time of filling this report.

Religion / Re: The Second Coming: A Failed Prophecy??? by adsami1: 8:16pm On Jul 26, 2015
Reiyvinn:
Being a Christian is really one hell of a job.

Aside the Church-bound duties required of "true" Christians (which are often quite inconvenient and demanding), one mustn't ignore the emotional, mental and psychological War that goes on in the mind of those one who are quite knowledgable or well versed with the Bible.

Trying hard to resist the doubts they tend to encounter is the order of the day for those who read wide and do lots of research in an aim to either justify or investigate their long-held faith. I was no exception.

Ranging from the bloodstained Old Testament to Scientific ludicrosities, Blatant absurdities to historical flaws, authenticities and many many more, I couldn't help giving Doubt a chance.

About this time last year, I wrote a piece here on Nairaland: Questions That Baffle Me About God
and even though it never made frontpage, I'm glad it had the amount of audience it did.

Now I'm here with something quite troubling; something a logical mind should find really really disturbing.

I remember having a dialogue with a Pastor friend some weeks ago when he was on an outreach preaching about the Second Coming of Christ and why everyone should "mend their ways".

I can't quite remember his reaction when I asked "Don't you think this Jesus is taking too long? Are you sure he's coming at all?"

but I do remember him sarcastically replying me by saying "Uhmm.... Our Lord is warming up his whips for strongheads like you, so chill..."

Well, I chuckled. But then, I needed him to go into his Bible to see for himself why I asked such a question, so I directed him to Mark 13:30 which states:

". . .this generation will by no means pass away until these things happen. . ."
(with "these things" referring to the end time, tribulation and the Second Coming talked about in the preceding verses).

He laughed. "Cheap!" He said.

"You don't understand Greek so you wouldn't know" (hehehehe does he understand Greek? Well.... I wouldn't know either lol)

"The word 'generation' in Greek is 'genea' which Lexicons define as 'people of the same kind' so from Acts 11:26, we can tell whom these people are. They are Christians, which means Christ-like. So Christians will never pass away until the Son comes". He concluded.

That was amazing. Perfect wordplay. However, the context of this passage made it clear that it literally referred to those still alive at the time. He refused; holding still to his explanation. Then I took him to Matthew 16:28 which states:

"Truly I say to you that there are some of those standing here that will not taste death at all until they see the Son of man coming in His Kingdom."
(also found in Mark 9:1; Luke 9:27)

His face didn't look so bright afterwards even though he tried making me take his explanation for an answer and how I needed the Holy Spirit to understand certain passages and so on, it was obvious that he was well aware of these passages and the problems the pose and willingly ignored them for fear of doubt (I once did that too). So he never expected it to be used in a dialogue with him. He obviously didn't research on it the way he should have and that's the same thing most Christians do today. Their fear of doubt has amounted to their fear of knowledge and information and honestly, it's really unfortunate.

Now, back to the passage, we all know that everyone "standing [t]here" are now dead, buried and forgotten (that's assuming Jesus even existed)

So what does that make of the Second Coming? A Failed Prophecy or not?

Let's be honest with ourselves.

Thank you.

Family / Re: Reasons Why You Should Not Get Married To A Nigerian Man by adsami1: 8:27pm On May 02, 2015
TheInkheart:
Reasons Why You Should Not Get Married To A Nigerian Man

It is no doubt that Nigerian men make wonderful lovers; they are sweet, kind, thoughtful, maybe not very romantic but romantic still and good in bed too. It is also no doubt that these men are very rare to come by in Nigeria. Maybe by default or societal conditioning, most Nigerian men are so not it; they are egoistic, chauvinistic and make terrible husband materials. You wonder why I think Nigerian men; at least most of them, won't make good husbands, read the reasons listed below:

-They Are Chauvinists: pardon the strong word "chauvinists" but Nigerian men prefer to stick to their bias opinion about women and their responsibilities in the home. The take the "head" duty way too serious and often push the women aside expecting them to follow their will and do as they say. If you marry a Nigerian man, you will probably end up as the less important voice in the home or wherever the man rather than as a partner you are to him.

- They Are Polygamous In Nature: In Nigeria, some men believe men are entitled to as many women as they can handle and so, they are free to marry more than one wife or have affairs with other women. With a Nigerian man, it is never certain that you will be the only woman in his life. To save yourself the heartbreaks of discovering condoms and hotel receipts in his pocket or worse, finding out he has secret children, please do not marry a Nigerian man.

- They Are Not Romantic: you want flowers, a guy to follow you to the salon, exotic lunches, dinners, vacations, chocolates and breakfast in bed? Then, a Nigerian man is not the man you should marry. They often consider these things as cheesy and unneccesary. Maybe they will try on your birthdays and valentine's day (that's if they don't come up with excuses to forget). The most romantic thing some Nigerian men will ever get for you is packs of food from an eatery or drinks and few back/foot rubs just right before sex.

- You Will Be A Nanny To A Grown Man: if God blesses you with a Nigerian man and a somehow scattered one, you are in soup. You've just graduated to being a nanny to a full grown man. You will pick his socks, shirts and what not after him when he gets back from work, even flush the toilet when he's done. Be ready to face a sulking man if the food is not ready on time or you try to get him to do something for you when his favourite game or tv show is on. You will have to pet and stroke his ego almost all the time to make him happy.

- They Have The Wife Beating Syndrome: either by societal conditioning or home training, some Nigerian men believe it is very normal to hit a woman; that is the only way to put them back on track when they are wrong. It is no secret that some Nigerian men will beat their wives and feel no regret about it; it is somehow the woman's fault the man is so angry to the extent he has to hit her. If you're not ready to lose your fine skin to the itchy palms of a man, please steer clear of Nigerian men.

Nigerian men are also good liars. They smoke and drink heavily and blame it on the society's deteriorating condition; they have to "keep body and soul together". Many Nigerian men have money problem; it is either they are misers or heavy spenders. Some prefer to show off the wealth they do not possess by living way beyond their standards. And the most annoying part is that many Nigerian men are Mr nice guy in public and Mr stingy in their homes which you will agree is not a very attractive trait especially in someone you want to spend the rest of your life with.

I know by now, some guys are already hissing and cursing me probably but it is undeniable that many Nigerian guys have terrible attitudes that make them really undesirable husband materials. I mean, it is tough enough we have to cope with the many issues in the country, men problems should not be added to our weighty wahala. We deserve men who understand us (at least to a reasonable extent), shower us with the affection we need, pamper us and make us feel very special and loved but how many Nigerian men can beat their chests that they can be the man of our dreams or at least, part of the dreams?!!

hmmm.honestly the nation, her citizenry and the internationals have never been in such a time as this nigeria's expectancy period. we are all watching, waiting, expecting, and scheming either for the success or downfall of the incoming govt. however, our most earnest desire should be to see her rise and succeed in at most, the bearest minimum, 50 percent of all facet of our national life both locally and internationally. both we and the elected government must put our hands to the plough and ensure the change we so much clamored for since independence, we may just start to see a gleamer of it: not because the APC is putting up the 'slogan- change' , but because that is what this nation truely need. so lets put aside all tribalism, all politicking, all hates, all sentimentality, all religiousity (because even God/Allah is watching). i am not for PDP nor APC, i am for nigeria, land of destiny, filled with great people (not by mouth but by our positive and negative deeds world wide: i wish the negative will go away so that we can be truly great). love, committment, diligence, brotherliness and sisterliness, prayers, self employment even if its to sell satchet water whether govt/private sector jobs come or not, maintainance culture, people-oriented leadership and programmes, etc on the part of the people and govt is the KEY to our national glory. lets look inward and turn our natural resources to our natural source of livelihood, we may only need to import the machines, we already have the manpower and with little fine tuning we can be the best in technical know-how (our students abroad are already proving this fact). lets come back home and stamp out corruption starting with your very self! amen.
