CrimeGunmen Kidnap 3 In Kuje Community by Aduemeso(op): 6:15pm On Dec 11, 2018
Gunmen have abducted three persons in Pegni village in Kuje Area Council of the FCT. A resident of Kuje, who identified himself as Dahiru, said the incident happened last Thursday night around 7:30pm. Dahiru gave the names of the victims as Mary Udoh Adaku, Mrs. Abiodun and Alhaji Rilwan, saying they were driving in separate vehicles but were abducted and taken into the bush at almost the same time. City News learnt that Mary Adaku, who is a staff of the National Assembly, was returning from work when she was abducted by the gunmen. City News reliably gathered that the kidnappers have demanded N15m ransom. The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Chairman of the council, Alhaji Abdullahi D. Galadima, said the council had been informed about the abductions. Alhaji Galadima expressed shock and sadness over the abductions, saying the chairman reached out to security agencies when he got news of the abductions. “The chairman has reached out to the police and they have entered the forest to ensure that the victims are rescued alive,” he said.

When contacted, spokesman of the FCT Police Command, DSP Anjuguri Manzah, said he was not aware of the abductions, but that he would reach out to the Kuje Police Division to find out and get back to our reporter.

PoliticsWe Have Reach A Partial Agreement With (ASUU)_chris Ngige by Aduemeso(op): 5:44pm On Dec 11, 2018
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, says the lingering strike action of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), might soon come to an end as the leadership of the union and the Federal government have reached a partial agreement.

Recall that the academic union began their strike action on November 5th to demand better funding for the Education sector.

Speaking after a reconciliation meeting with the union yesterday December 10th, the Minister told newsmen that the strike would soon be called off as efforts are being made to meet the demands of the union.

“We have finished our deliberation. I am happy to report that we touched some areas of understanding in implementation from the memorandum of action which we agreed to in 2017. Some of these areas we have substantial compliance and some other areas have not been fully dealt with. Like the issue of shortfall in salaries of some federal universities’ workers and lecturers, ASUU has given a list to the accountant-general’s office and we have agreed that by Wednesday that list should be cross-checked by the presidential initiative on continuous auditing. So, the accountant-general’s office is to get back to us by Wednesday.

“We also have the issue of earned allowances, revitalisation, these are issues of 2009 agreement and partial implementation and we have agreed on the modus operandi to look into the fund situation, this is due to low revenue on the part of government.

We have agreed on what we are going to do to make sure that the outstanding amount is handled in a way that all parties will be properly accommodated. We also discussed the issue of state universities and agreed also that even if education is on the concurrent list, the universities should be properly funded and staffed so that we do not produce half-baked students from those universities. In realisation of this, the ministry of education will set up a committee, that would engage the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, and the minister of education has taken steps in that direction to formalise the interaction. Thus discussion are fruitful and we do hope that in the next adjourned date we would have had the requisite result on the few agreements reached today.” he said

Also speaking to newsmen, the National president of ASUU, Abiodun Ogunyemi, said
“Our own understanding is that we heard promises made on the part of government, we shall await the report on all the issues, which they have made the promises. Only after that, we can get back to our members to take a decision.”

SportsLiverpool Vs Napoli Today At 9:00pm by Aduemeso(op): 4:42pm On Dec 11, 2018
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has told his players they are "responsible for the situation" but can "put it right" as they go into their final Champions League group game against Napoli needing a win.

The Reds need a 1-0 victory or to win by two goals to progress, but any win will do if Paris St-Germain do not beat Red Star Belgrade at the same time.

"We caused the situation, but we still have the chance to go through and that is pretty special," said Klopp. "I'm really looking forward to it."

Last season's beaten finalists have won their two home games - but lost all three on the road - including their two most recent Champions League games, 2-0 at Red Star and 2-1 at PSG.

"We knew after the Napoli game [in the second round of games] it was not good and Belgrade was not any better," Klopp said ahead of Tuesday night's Group C clash at Anfield.

"So far at home we have been good and we need to be even better on Tuesday. I told the boys if nothing special happens with a referee decision we will get what we deserve."

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk said: "We want to show we belong in the Champions League.

"We are doing very well in the league and we can show it in the Champions League. It's our own fault we are in this position but we have a way of getting out of it."

Napoli, who only need a point to progress, are unbeaten in 12 games in all competitions.

TEAM NEWS

Forward Sadio Mane is fit to start for the Premier League leaders, after coming on a substitute against Bournemouth following a foot injury.

Dejan Lovren will have a fitness test to see if he can return after three games out, with fellow centre-back Joe Gomez out for six weeks with a leg fracture.

Midfielder Adam Lallana is available following a head injury.

MATCH FACTS

This will be the fourth competitive meeting between Liverpool and Napoli, with one win each and a draw.

Liverpool did not attempt a single shot on target in their 1-0 defeat by Napoli in October; the first time they had failed to attempt a shot on target in a Champions League match since February 2006 (vs Benfica).

Liverpool are unbeaten in 18 European matches at Anfield (W13 D5 L0), last losing at home in European competition back in October 2014 against Real Madrid (3-0).

Napoli have not won any of their last six Champions League away matches (W0 D2 L4), since a 2-1 win at Benfica in December 2016.

If Napoli avoid defeat, they will have reached the knockout stages for the third time in five Champions League campaigns (also 2011-12 and 2016-17).

Liverpool have been knocked out at this stage in two of their last three Champions League campaigns.

Liverpool have won (4) and scored (3) more penalties in the Champions League this season than any other side.

Dries Mertens' two goals for Napoli against Red Star Belgrade in the last game took his tally to 10 in the Champions League, making him the highest Belgian goalscorer in the competition.

Mohamed Salah has scored eight goals in eight Champions League matches as a Liverpool player at Anfield - only Steven Gerrard (14) has scored more.

CHANCES OF PROGRESSION

Simon Gleave, head of sports analysis, Gracenote
"Liverpool's defeat in Paris two weeks ago affected their chance of progress to the knockout phase only slightly as it has opened up the possibility of Napoli eliminating the Reds if the Italian side lose by a single goal but score themselves.

" The Euro Club Index estimates the chance of Liverpool progressing to the last 16 at about 47%, the lowest it has been during the competition. Napoli's chance of going through is 60% while Paris St-Germain have a 93% chance of playing in the knockout phase."
SportsBarcelona Vs Tottenham At 8:00pm Today by Aduemeso(op): 4:30pm On Dec 11, 2018
Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde says he will "respect the competition" after omitting Luis Suarez and hinting Lionel Messi may also miss their Tottenham's Champions League visit on Tuesday.

The Uruguay forward is out with a knee problem and the Group B winners are expected to make other changes.

"In 24 hours I will answer you categorically (about Messi)," he said.

Spurs will qualify for the last 16 if their result matches or betters Inter Milan's against PSV Eindhoven.

"There are players with discomfort and it does not fit into my plans, of course, to play then in two games in three days," added Valverde ahead of the Nou Camp clash.

"Inter has nothing to fear. If they had drawn or won, they would have no problem. We have to look after ourselves. We will go out to win but we respect the competition and we want to win."

Mauricio Pochettino's side have the same number of points as Inter but hold a head-to-head advantage over the Italians.

Spurs lost 2-1 to Inter in the San Siro in their first meeting in September, but their 1-0 win at Wembley means they lead Inter on away goals.

"If we want to deserve qualification we have to win on Tuesday. The idea was to come to Barcelona already qualified," Pochettino said.

"We are going to know what's going on in Milan. It's important to know what's going on but focus on what we have to do."

TEAM NEWS

Tottenham will be without injured full-backs Serge Aurier and Kieran Trippier, meaning Kyle Walker-Peters could start in Europe for the first time.

Juan Foyth is unavailable as he is not in the club's Champions League squad but Kane, Eriksen and Erik Lamela are expected to return.

Suarez will be absent for Barcelona with manager Valverde opting to rest the Uruguay forward.

Brazil midfielder Arthur Melo is back in contention though, with the Barcelona coach confirming he will make changes to the team that won 4-0 at Espanyol on Saturday.

'Historical data gives Spurs a chance'

Simon Gleave, head of sports analysis, Gracenote
"If Tottenham were playing away against a Barcelona team with something to play for, the Euro Club Index would estimate Spurs' chance of progress at around 23%.

"However, historical data tells us that Barcelona produce results of the 15th best team in Europe rather than the number one if they have nothing to play for.

"That historical data analysis of Barcelona when they have nothing to play for suggests that Tottenham have a 43% chance of reaching the Champions League knockout phase."

MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head

Barcelona are unbeaten in their previous three meetings with Tottenham Hotspur in all competitions, winning the last two. They defeated Spurs 4-2 at Wembley Stadium on match-day two this season.

Barcelona

Barcelona have lost just one of their last 12 Champions League meetings with English clubs (W9 D2 L1), with that defeat coming in November 2016 at Manchester City (1-3).

Since the start of 1976-77, Barcelona have lost just one of their 30 European home matches against English clubs; this coming against Liverpool in February 2007 (1-2).

Barcelona have won their Champions League group for the 12th consecutive season. However, the winner of Group B has only won the Champions League once (Real Madrid in 2013-14).

Barcelona are unbeaten in their last 28 home Champions League games (W26 D2). They have scored 87 goals in that run, while conceding just 13 and never more than once in a match.

Barcelona star Lionel Messi has been involved in 28 goals (22 goals, 6 assists) in 29 Champions League appearances against English clubs.

Messi has also scored 22 goals against English clubs in the Champions League; 10 more than any other player (Cristiano Ronaldo, 12 goals).

Tottenham

Matchday six is the only matchday in the Champions League group stages Tottenham have never lost on, winning two and drawing one of their three games.

Tottenham are winless away from home in the Champions League this season (D1 L1) - they have won at least two away points in every previous Champions League group stage.

Tottenham striker Harry Kane has scored seven goals in his seven Champions League away games.

PoliticsSex Workers Rain Curses On Anambra Government by Aduemeso(op): 8:41am On Dec 01, 2018
By Phil Okose, Onitsha

Angry commercial sex workers reputed to operate from make-shift structures at Umumpama Aboji village, Oba, Idemili South local government area, Anambra state, were seen, last Monday raining curses on the Anambra state government and its task force on demolition of illegal structures for allegedly demolishing their structures.

The taskforce, which reportedly stormed the area with bulldozers for the demolition of the shanties located from Oba/Nnewi new road junction up to Oba International Market along the Onitsha/Owerri Expressway in Oba, faced a backlash from the sex workers and their customers, mostly commercial drivers.

One of the sex workers who claimed to have come from Imo state and simply identified as ‘smallie’ hinted that she had been in her demolished structure for seven years and cursed the taskforce team saying, “your house will also be demolished like mine and your children rendered homeless.

She claimed to have personally built the hut she occupied and wondered what she and her customers would do after the demolition.

Also reacting, another sex worker who did not want her name in print urged the government to repair the demolished structures so as to help reduce unemployment and crime.

According to her, “we are not unemployed but government wants to send us to the labour market. They will lose because there will be increase in crime. Again rape cases will increase; married women are not safe even if some of them are with us here.”

A driver who said he plied the road on daily basis accused the taskforce of worsening the problem of the people instead of assisting adding, “I relax here after the day’s work but now I have to look for an alternative place”.

Contacted, the President General of Aboji Akanano village, Chief Dozie Nweke, stated that, “the demolition is one of the good things that have happened to this community. Since the ban on motorcycles the crime and criminality increased in our place and this is their hideout. The sex workers that include married women from nearby states come here and hide as sex workers.

“I thank the state governor, Willie Obiano and the taskforce; but let the governor build a permanent structure for butter business. Criminals used this place as safe haven after committing atrocities in Onitsha. They use the sex workers as shield and pay them a lot of money.

SportsLa Liga Take Spanish FA To Court by Aduemeso(op): 8:18am On Dec 01, 2018
La Liga has taken the Spanish Football Association (RFEF) to court in its fight to play Girona's home league game against Barcelona in Miami.

The RFEF is one of the bodies that needs to give approval for the game to go ahead on 26 January but has not yet provided an official response.

The Spanish top flight has filed a lawsuit with a civil court in Madrid to force the RFEF to approve the match.

A decision is expected around the middle of December.

"La Liga has taken a case to court in Madrid and expect a resolution in the coming days or weeks," a spokesperson for the league said.

It is understood La Liga thinks the RFEF's role in bringing the second leg of the Copa Libertadores final to Real Madrid's Bernabeu stadium on 9 December will strengthen its case, as it is a precedent for matches transcending country and regional borders.

The RFEF and Spanish players' union (AFE) have previously been vocal in their objections to the game.
AFE president David Aganzo has now said the match will not go ahead next year, but that it could be "possible" in the future.

La Liga agreed to play one game a season in the US as part of a 15-year deal with media company Relevent and Catalan neighbours Girona and Barcelona agreed to move their game to the Hard Rock Stadium.

In addition to the Spanish FA, the match also needs the approval of Fifa, US Soccer and the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (Concacaf).

La Liga has previously said it will go to the Court of Arbitration for Sport if Fifa blocks the move. Football's world governing body has not yet formally banned the proposal.

RFEF has refused to comment on the court case.

CrimeShe What Happen To A Woman After Native Doctor Give Her Snake by Aduemeso(op): 1:28pm On Nov 30, 2018
A woman who was given a snake by a native doctor to help her get rich is now lamenting after the snake began having sex with her rather than make her rich.
Zodwa Ngubane, a 42, from Angelo in South Africa, said a Sangoma (a South African traditional healer) gave her a baby snake in a jar six years ago to make her rich. Zodwa took the snake home after being told by the Sangoma that it will only work if she doesn’t have sex with anyone else. She thought this command was strange but she really wanted to be rich so she didn’t mind.
But that night she started feeling as if someone was performing MouthAction on her and she loved it. She later discovered it was the snake. This has continued since then but Zodwa has remained poor.
Zodwa says though she enjoys what the snake does to her, she doesn’t want to be poor forever.
She said:
I don’t want my kitten licked. I want cash.
The snake must go!
Zodwa is still jobless and she lives in a mkhukhu (a shack). To make matters worse, the snake no longer fits in the jar and it does the strangest things.
Zodwa pleaded:
I don’t want this snake anymore. I want to be rescued from it.
Explaining her she found herself in this situation, Zodwa said six years ago she was desperate to get rich and improve her life so she went to a Sangoma for help.
She recalled:
I heard that people got rich using snakes. I wanted to try my luck.
I was broke and single. I needed money.
Zodwa went to a sangoma who gave her a small bottle of muthi. She was told it had a snake inside.
The sangoma said it would only work if I didn’t have sex with anyone. I thought that was strange but I didn’t care, I just wanted money.
That same night, as she slept, she noticed that someone was performing MouthAction on her and she loved it.
She said:
I enjoyed every moment.
While the enjoyment continued, she soon realised that she was still broke.
So the snake was for my sexual pleasure. I was having fun but the snake wasn’t going to buy me a house!
I knew I would have to get rid of the snake so I could get a boyfriend and find another way to make money.
Zodwa told Daily Sun she went back to the sangoma but he was nowhere to be found.
She said:
Since then I have been going from one sangoma to another but the snake won’t stop.
Zodwa said she’s given up on the money but she really wants the snake to stop.
A Sangoma named Joseph Dungamanzi, while reacting to Zodwa’s situation, said this usually happens if the client does not follow all the instructions.
Sangoma Joseph said:
Zodwa must have been asked to sacrifice one of her loved ones and she did not do that.
Joseph said if you follow instructions properly you should be seeing changes in your life within three months.
Joseph concluded:
I advise people to stay away from these remedies when they want quick money. There are other ways.

SportsFormer Super Midfielder Facing Jail Term For Alleged Match Fixing by Aduemeso(op): 8:31pm On Nov 29, 2018
Former Super Eagles player, Dickson Etuhu, will go on trial in a Swedish court on Thursday, to face a charge of match-fixing, Reuters reports.

Etuhu played at the 2010 World Cup for Nigeria and had a lengthy career in England for Manchester City, Preston North End, Norwich, Sunderland, Fulham and Blackburn Rovers, before moving to play in Sweden.

He is charged with trying to bribe a goalkeeper to fix the result of a league match between his former side, Stockholm’s AIK and IFK Gothenburg.

The game was due to be played on May 18, 2017, but was postponed after goalkeeper Kenny Stamatopoulos told AIK he had been approached by Etuhu and another man with a view to fixing the game.

Etuhu has said his former teammate must have misunderstood the conversation.

“I respect everyone’s opinion, but the facts remain the same – it never happened … It’s unbelievable that an ordinary conversation with a friend can lead to something like this,” Etuhu told Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter.

The offence of gross bribery carries a maximum sentence of six years in prison.

They're just getting sense. If they've been killing them this way, the terrorists wouldn't have killed them in battalion. But all the same, where's our humanity? I'm not against killing terrorists but I'm solely against killing them in a brutal manner. They're humans too. They don't deserve to die this way. I can't believe that our army can kill a "less dangerous" militia this way all in the name of having a reprisal attack. Humanity comes first above any war.

Jokes EtcThe Walking Girl by Aduemeso(op): 1:15pm On Nov 29, 2018
There is a girl walking up the stairs in a church one day. As the priest is walking by, he looks up and notices that this girl is not wearing any panties. He then calls the girl and gives her $50 and says "Little girl, take this money and buy yourself some panties as it is not good to walk around without any panties on." The girl then goes home and gives the money to her mother and asks her mother to buy panties for her. When the mother asks where the girl got the money from, the girl explained what happened. Upon hearing how the girl got the money, the mother rushes to her room, whips off her panties, and puts on one of her shortest dresses and runs out to the church. As soon as the mother sees the priest coming, she begins to walk up the stairs. The priest then notices the lady and calls her down. The woman not wanting to show that she is expecting anything walks back to the priest very calmly. The priest then gives the lady $1 and says, "Take this money and for Gods Sakes, buy yourself a razor!"
