Argentina legend Diego Maradona has been released from hospital after being admitted with internal bleeding in his stomach, his daughter said.

The 58-year-old was having a routine medical in his home country when doctors discovered the problem.
However, his family said the diagnosis was not serious.

"For those who were really worried about my dad I can tell you that he is well," his daughter Dalma said . "He is going home soon."

Reuters news agency later reported Maradona had left the hospital.

Maradona, who captained Argentina to World Cup victory in 1986, is coach of Mexican second division side Dorados de Sinaloa.

He was taken ill during Argentina's victory over Nigeria at last year's World Cup in Russia but later said he was "fine".
SportsGreek League Has Been Suspended (because Of This) by Aduemeso(op): 8:01am On Dec 21, 2018
All Greek Super League games have been suspended this weekend after referees went on strike following an official being attacked outside his house.

Fifa referee Thanasis Tzilos was released from hospital on Thursday after receiving stitches for head and leg injuries caused by an assault.

The Referees' Association said: "As a sign of sympathy we will refrain from our activities until further notice."

Greece's top flight confirmed this weekend's games are postponed.

"We express our indignation of the cowardly attack against our colleague Thanasis Tzilos and the repeated attacks on referees. We will not allow those people to continue trying to terrorise us," the Association's statement continued.

Tzilos' last match was Olympiakos' 1-1 draw at Xanthi earlier this month.

Leading clubs Olympiakos and Panathinaikos both condemned the attack. "Greek football has reached the pits," said a spokesperson for Olympiakos, while a representative for their Athens rivals said, "The mafia in Greek football lives and reigns".

The games on 22 and 23 December have been postponed with no new date set.

Greek club football has been plagued with problems for years. The league was suspended in March after PAOK Salonika's president invaded the pitch with a gun followng a game. The 2014-15 season was suspended three times.

The Greek authorities decided this summer to get
foreign referees in for big derbies after several controversies last season.

SportsRe: Police Investigate As Alli Hit By Bottle by Aduemeso(op): 6:12pm On Dec 20, 2018

Aduemeso:
Police are investigating an incident that saw Tottenham's Dele Alli struck on the head by a plastic bottle during their 2-0 win at Arsenal on Wednesday.

The bottle was thrown from the crowd at Emirates
Stadium during the Carabao Cup quarter-final.

England midfielder Alli, 22, was hit near the touchline as Arsenal prepared to take a throw-in in the 73rd minute.

The Metropolitan Police says it is working with Arsenal to try to identify the person responsible.

Arsenal have told BBC Sport they are examining CCTV to find the person who threw the bottle, but police say no arrests have been made.

Alli reacted with a 2-0 gesture to fans - referencing the scoreline at the time.

"In a different country, maybe they close the stadium for a few games," said Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino.

"It's lucky it wasn't a big problem but I think people need to be careful, and we need to try and avoid this type of action. Some people behave very bad."

Alli had earlier scored the second goal and Spurs went on to reach the semi-finals with a 2-0 victory.

Wednesday's incident follows a banana skin being thrown towards Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the Premier League match between the sides at the same venue on 2 December.

The Spurs fan responsible was fined and banned from football for four years on Tuesday.

BBC Radio 5 live pundit Dion Dublin, who was co-commentating on the game, said: "It's sad to see. It's mindless. Why would you do that?

"It must have had water or something in it to reach Dele Alli. Why would you risk being idiots?

"Just support your club, don't do ridiculous things like that."

When asked about the incident after the game, Alli told Sky Sports: "It is what it is. It made the goal a bit sweeter and the win."

An EFL spokesperson told BBC Sport the matter would be up to the Football Association to investigate, but they would "assist" if required.

SportsMagical Messi, Hit Hat-trick Against Levante by Aduemeso(op): 1:09am On Dec 17, 2018
Lionel Messi scored a hat-trick and created another two goals as Barcelona thrashed 10-man Levante to regain a three-point lead at the top of La Liga.
The champions were joined at the top by Atletico Madrid and Sevilla, who both claimed victories this weekend.

But Messi stole the show once he crossed for Luis Suarez's opener.

The Argentine converted two clinical finishes and popped home from close range, as well cutting the ball back for Gerard Pique's late fifth.
Levante had defender Erick Cabaco sent off with 14 minutes to go for a straight red card after he recklessly lunged in on French winger Ousmane Dembele.

The hosts started brightly with striker Emmanuel Boateng smashing a shot against the crossbar and the Ghanaian also came close with a low, drilled effort towards the near post which Marc-Andre ter Stegen had to stoop to keep out, before Messi's intervention.

Magical Messi

Barca achieved a stylish revenge after last season's agonising 5-4 loss against Levante ended their chances of going the full season unbeaten in the penultimate game of the campaign.

Though they were second best in the early stages, there was no doubting the result once they broke the deadlock on 34 minutes.

Messi pounced on a loose ball as Levante looked to pass it out from the back and the chance looked to be gone when he was forced out wide, but a clever cross into the box allowed Suarez to side-foot home a first-time finish from 12 yards out.

Nine minutes later, Barca skipper Messi was played in on goal by Sergio Busquets' pass and the Argentine held off a defender to roll a finish into the far corner and then stroking home from the edge of the box for his second.

Messi completed his hat-trick with an easy finish from close range for his 50th goal for club and country in 2018 - and there was still time for defender Pique to start a move in his own box, before sprinting up the pitch to roll in from Messi's cutback.

PoliticsKola Ologbondiyan Caught Spreading Fake Judgement About Senator Kashamu by Aduemeso(op): 12:42pm On Dec 14, 2018
A Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday left the Peoples Democratic Party disappointed by ruling that the expulsion of Senator Buruji Kashamu and leaders of his Ogun PDP faction was unlawful.

However, the same court affirmed the party’s power to expel an erring member of the party.

National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan, apparently had not fully read the judgment in the suit marked FCT/HC/CV/0303/2017 before rushing out a statement to commend the judge and also interpret it to mean that the verdict validated the nomination of Ladi Adebutu as the governorship candidate of the party.

Buruji Kashamu claims that he is the legal candidate. On Tuesday, he, along with his running mate, Dr. Reuben Abati, launched his campaign in Ijebu-Igbo as the authentic, court-endorsed governorship candidate of the party.

According to a report posted on Kashamu’s Twitter handle on Thursday, the court did not grant the PDP all the prayers it wanted. Rather, it only got affirmation for its right to discipline members. And this came with a caveat: the sanctioning must follow due process and the rule of law.

Justice Valentine Ashi, maintained that though the PDP was empowered by its constitution to discipline, reprimand, bar or expel recalcitrant members from its fold, it held that due process must be followed in the exercise of such powers.

Justice Ashi had in a previous ruling on October 10, nullified the suspension in August of Kashamu and other members of the party on the premise that the action was carried out without regards to due process and in total disregard to a pending suit on the matter.

He held that the PDP took the action in flagrant disobedience of a subsisting order the court made on December 7, 2017, which was restated on January 9, 2018, directing parties not to do anything to jeopardise the hearing of the pending case brought against Kashamu, Dayo and two others by the party itself.

The court scolded the party for resorting to self-help by suspening its affected members, despite the pendency of the legal action they instituted against it.

The judge trod the same path on Thursday. The judge did not validate the expulsion of Kashamu and the others.

“The decision to suspend the defendants was nullified, because it was taken during the pendency of the suit, which suspension this court had reversed in an earlier ruling.

“That the plaintiff’s first and second reliefs succeed is not to say that the suspension has been reversed. Parties are to revert to the status quo before the suspension. The plaintiff is at liberty to exercise its disciplinary powers, but with due process”.

Justice Ashi declined to pronounce on the plaintiff’s other reliefs which include prayers for restraining injunctions against Kashamu and the Adebayo Dayo-led faction to prevent them from taking steps to disrupt the last non-elective convention that was held by the PDP.

The judge said the reliefs were overtaken by events since the said convention had been held.

The PDP had through a letter dated August 1, announced its expulsion of Senator Kashamu who is representing Ogun East and the state PDP Chairman, Engr Adebayo Dayo.

The victims rushed to court for protection.
In an obvious misinterpretation of the judgment, the PDP Publicity secretary Ologbodiyan urged the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) to copiously take note of the development and the conduct of the governorship election in Ogun.

“The PDP invites Nigerians, the people of Ogun and particularly the INEC to take copious note of the judgment of the court.

“The judgement, in suit no: FCT/HC/0303/2017, delivered today, Dec. 13, 2018 affirmed the powers of the PDP, as provided in her constitution, to discipline and punish any member who contravenes any of the provisions of its constitution.

“By this judgment, it is clear that Kashamu is not a member of the PDP, and cannot, under any circumstance whatsoever, claim to be the governorship candidate of the party in Ogun, moreso, when he never participated in any of its nomination processes.’’

Ologbondiyan said that going by the expulsion of the senator from the PDP in August, Buruji lost his membership of PDP and as such, did not partake in any of the party’s nomination processes.

“He did not purchase the PDP governorship nomination form and did not participate in any way whatsoever in our Ogun governorship primary. Yet, he had continued to cause confusion and parade himself as PDP candidate.

“Finally, the PDP commends the people of Ogun for standing steadfast with its governorship candidate, Adebutu, who is already coasting to victory in the 2019 polls,’’ he said. NAN

PoliticsNo $1.05bn NLNG Fund Missing :Senate Committee by Aduemeso(op): 12:33pm On Dec 14, 2018
The Senate Committee on Gas Resources and the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) on Thursday says no 1.05 billion dollars is missing from the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) dividend account. Chairman of the committee, Sen. Bassey Akpan, and the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of NNPC, Mr Isiaka Abdulrazaq, stated this at a meeting between members of the committee and NNPC officials in Abuja.

Akpan and Abdulrazaq noted that contrary to media reports, the issue at stake is on the legality of the utilisation of the 1.05 billion dollars by the NNPC for importation of fuel, and not on whether or not the money is missing. The meeting was in continuation of investigation by the committee into the utilisation of the 1.05 billion dollars by the NNPC from the NLNG dividend fund to “augment under-recoveries” in fuel importation.

The Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Mr Maikanti Baru, confirmed the spending at a Senate hearing recently. Baru had said the NNPC took the action following the removal of fuel subsidy in 2016, and the resultant withdrawal of independent oil companies from importation of the product. He had said the withdrawal was in line with the NNPC Act which empowers the company to fund its operations from its revenue. But the lawmakers believe the NLNG dividend fund is revenue meant for the three tiers of government and thus the NNPC lacks powers to unilaterally draw from it. At Thursday’s meeting, Akpan said documents made available to the committee by the NNPC showed that another 1.05 billion dollars was transferred from the NLNG account. He asked why the NNPC vide a letter dated Nov. 30, 2016, authorised the CBN to transfer the money and for what purpose.

Responding, Abdulrazaq said the transaction was an internal entry of the CBN regarding the movement of the fund from one NLNG dividend account to another, and not payment to a third party. Throwing more light on the transaction, the Group Managing Director, Treasury, of the corporation, Mr Dapo Segun, said there are two NLNG dividend accounts. Segun identified the accounts as the NLNG Bank of International Settlement (BIS) Account and the NLNG Standard Chartered Bank Account. He said that following the adoption of the Treasury Single Account policy of the Federation Government, deposit money banks holding the NLNG dividend funds were directed to transfer them to the CBN. The CBN, according to him, told the NNPC that it had deposited the funds in the NLNG BIS Account, which he said was not operational.

Segun said the Nov. 30, 2016 memo cited by the Akpan simply asked the CBN to transfer the money from the BIS Account to the NLNG Standard Chartered Bank that was operational. “So, CBN did move the money pursuant to our instruction, and then subsequently, CBN reversed that transaction which was still between NLNG accounts. “So, the money never left the NLNG dividend account; it moved from one NLNG dividend account to another NLNG dividend account,” he said. After Segun’s clarification, Abdulrazaq told the senators that the CBN was in the right position to explain why it reversed the transfer from NLNG Standard Chartered Account to the BIS Account. He noted that the issues being discussed at the hearing bordered on the legality of the utilisation of the 1.05 billion dollars on fuel importation, and not on whether or not the money was missing. The NNPC CFO said the clarification became necessary following misleading reports in the media that the money was missing. Abdulrazaq said the reports were sending wrong signals about the government to its foreign partners and potential investors. At this point, the committee chairman pleaded with newsmen around to refrain from misrepresentation of facts and report the proceeding verbatim. Akpan said, “Please pressmen, nobody is saying that money is missing, I plead with you to report the outcome of this meeting verbatim. “We are only engaging the NNPC to understand the rudiments and dynamics of the NLNG dividend account,” he said.(NAN)

SportsChelsea Condemn Anti-simitic Chants by Aduemeso(op): 8:12am On Dec 14, 2018
Chelsea say fans who sang an anti-Semitic chant in the Europa League game with MOL Vidi have "shamed the club".

A vocal minority chanted offensive songs about Tottenham fans early in Thursday's 2-2 draw in Hungary.

That came days after four fans were suspended for allegedly racially abusing Raheem Sterling.

"Anti-Semitism and any kind of racial or religious hatred is abhorrent to this club and the overwhelming majority of our fans," a spokesman said.

"It has no place at Chelsea or in any of our communities."

Uefa said it will await the referee's report before deciding on whether any action will be taken.
Willian and Olivier Giroud scored free-kicks for Chelsea, who had already qualified for the knockout stages, in their draw in Budapest.

"Any individuals that can't summon the brainpower to comprehend this simple message and are found to have shamed the club by used using anti-Semitic or racist words or actions will face the strongest possible action from the club," the spokesman added.

Press Association journalist Matt McGeehan said the chanting could be heard clearly in the stadium.

"It was very early in the match," he told BBC Radio 5 Live. "It was a chant that Chelsea supporters have done in the past and it references Tottenham supporters using the 'y' word, the anti-Semitic derogatory word about Jewish people.

"I understand that Chelsea are angry from the top to the bottom of the club - the very top actually because owner Roman Abramovich is Jewish.

"They are furious. Not just that this has happened again to their club but because of the proximity to the incident last Saturday with Sterling."

On Wednesday, manager Maurizio Sarri
condemned "discrimination in any form" following the alleged racist abuse of Manchester City's Sterling.

Chelsea and the Metropolitan Police are investigating the allegations which occurred during the Blues' 2-0 win on Saturday.

Edodefender:
Somorika is a town in Akoko Edo located about five kilometers north-east of Igarra.

Somorikans are believed to be Benin warriors who reneged on a military assignment during the time of Oba Ewuare of Benin and found an independent kingdom for themselves. Their leader, Orudu is believed to have hailed from Usilowa quarters of Benin.

Somorika is known across Nigeria and beyond for it spiritual shrines where people all over the world come for all manner of physical and spiritual healings.

To get there would mean ascending seven hills, each hill has its own uniqueness and they all have names. Ogundugundu is the longest and highest of them all.

The natural rocky ascents that go as high as 1700 feet interspersed at unequal intervals that fill the borders of the village.

As with many ancient settlements, it has a lot of mysteries, history and works of art which are not man-made.

One of such geological wonders is the Oriakpe – the big rock wearing a little cap shaped like a human fingernail. Whether natural or not, these works, rocks, caves and springs can compete with any tourist destination in any part of the world.

It houses natural rocky ascents that go as high as 1700 feet which are interspersed at roughly unequal intervals that fill the borders of the village.

Somorika also contain artificial rocky hangers that served as formidable defenses for the Somorikans during the British assault of 1904. These formations of boulders like smooth topped rocks appear to have been concentrated at the summit of the Kukuruku hills.

Somorika was reputed to have served as relaxation and vacation spots for British officers and their families during the colonial era due to its exciting landscape.

SportsReal Madrid Suffered Their Biggest Ever Home Defeat To CSKA Moscow by Aduemeso(op): 9:35pm On Dec 12, 2018
Real Madrid suffered their biggest ever home defeat in Europe as they were thrashed by CSKA Moscow in the Champions League.

The European champions, who had already won Group G, named a weakened team.

Fedor Chalov curled home CSKA's opener against the run of play and Georgy Schennikov volleyed in a second after Mario Fernandes' shot was saved.

Icelandic teenager Arnor Sigurdsson completed the convincing win with a strike from the edge of the box.

Real brought on Gareth Bale at half-time and the Welshman suffered an ankle injury, although he was able to play the rest of the game after receiving treatment.

The holders were booed off at full-time by their fans as they suffered a first home Champions League defeat in nine years.

CSKA Moscow, whose only two group wins came against Real, are out of Europe after Viktoria Plzen beat Roma 2-1 to finish third and clinch a Europa League place.

Real collapse after bright start

Real - who named Thibaut Courtois, Marcelo, Isco and Karim Benzema in their starting line-up - began the game brightly.

Marco Asensio forced three saves from Igor Akinfeev, with the Russian goalkeeper producing an excellent stop to deny Brazilian teenager Vinicius Jr. Federico Valverde was also frustrated by the visiting keeper.

But from the moment Chalov opened the scoring after a good surging run from Sigurdsson, the hosts imploded and only had one shot on target in the second half.

CSKA follow in footsteps of Italian giants

CSKA are the first team to win both group games against Real since Juventus in 2008-09.

Madrid had won 75 points of a possible 81 in their previous 27 home Champions League matches. Their last such defeat was 3-2 by AC Milan in October 2009.

Santiago Solari has won eight of his 10 games as Real Madrid boss since replacing Julen Lopetegui, but both the other matches have been 3-0 defeats - at Eibar and now by CSKA.
Foreign AffairsNorth Korea's Founder Kim Sung Step-grandmonther Is Dead by Aduemeso(op): 9:05pm On Dec 12, 2018
The second wife of North Korea’s founder Kim Il Sung — the step-grandmother of Pyongyang’s current leader Kim Jong Un — has died, the South’s government said on Wednesday.

Kim Song Ae, who was born in 1924, is said to have been sidelined in a power struggle decades ago and put under house arrest after failing to promote her own son Pyong Il — now the North’s ambassador to the Czech Republic — as the founder’s heir.

“We are going to update our Who’s Who of North Korea by factoring in her death,” a spokesman at Seoul’s Unification ministry said, without saying when she had died or giving any further details.

Kim Song Ae reportedly married North Korea’s founder and leader Kim Il Sung in 1953, four years after the death of his first wife Kim Jong Suk — the mother of his successor Kim Jong Il and grandmother of the incumbent.

She was seen standing alongside her husband greeting former US president Jimmy Carter when he visited Pyongyang in 1994 during the first crisis over its nuclear development.

This is not the first time reports of her death have emerged.

In 2014 North Korean Intellectuals’ Solidarity, a group of North Korean defectors in the South, said she had died in Kanggye where she had been living incommunicado.

The North is highly secretive and the last time she was mentioned by its state media was in 1995, when she was listed as a mourner at the funeral of former defence minister O Jin U.

Kim had another son and a daughter. Her second son Kim Yong Il died in Germany in 2000, aged 45, while the daughter lives in Austria with her husband, according to the South’s Yonhap news agency.
