It is funny to celebrate getting bail. Bail just means go and come back till the case is finished when we will decide whether you are guilty or not. Good lawyer will advise him to comport himself appropriately while his case is on even if he is assumed innocent of the charges. |

Hourly pay means you get paid for when you are actually working . It's not funny at all. I once taught a 1 hour class but finished teaching the syllabus content in 40 minutes and left the class after giving them assignment. When payday came, the company paid me for 40 minutes ! ![]() Calculate that for over a month. Meanwhile, employers who pay per hour monitor to see that you are actually working, no loafing around or wasting time. That is why they pay high rates per hour. |
There is nothing like scapegoat. If you share underage porn for Twitter clout, you will face the law. |
The government just like to suffer ordinary man. In the whole Lagos state, there is no effective emergency services to save lives when travelling by boat. Some of those lives will be saved if there is prompt rescue. When licensed boats sink, they don't charge them with manslaughter. We just un-look because those boats are owned by politically connected people. From time, people in the riverine areas have been moving about with locally made wooden boats. Can they afford government license? Can they afford the cost of private jetty license? Should it not be government responsiblity to provide jetties and emergency services? If the man is guilty of operating in an illegal jetty without license, charge him for that. Don't charge him for manslaughter because he is a poor man . As if he woke up that day with a plan to kill 20 people. ![]() |

A long time ago, in what seems like a previous life now, I read an article written by some guy ( I can't remember his name) that changed how I saw the challenges in my life. It has been over a decade now , so while I like to share the seed idea , the way I present it here is all mine. He was taking a ride in a taxi in some big city, let’s call it New York because they say New York always has very bad traffic. Maybe he was visiting for the first time. So the taxi driver puts on the radio to get the traffic report that would advise him on the best route to take. They heard an announcement about road repairs and that drivers should take alternative routes to avoid the resultant traffic jams if possible. The thing is, they were going in that particular direction and there was no way to avoid delays. And the driver had a conversation with him about how in a big city like New York, there are so many roads and there is always some part of the city undergoing renovation everyday. You might be able to avoid it most times but once in a while, it might be your lot to sit through it. His lesson: At any point in time there will be roads in your life that need fixing no matter how thorough you are. Fixing your problems is a continuous investment in your future's infrastructure. That conclusion resonated with me. https://400wordsonly.com/media/uploads/roads_in_your_life.png Continue reading https://400wordsonly.com/roads-in-your-life/ |
This is case was not lost just on a technical issue. EFCC is created by law and should therefore always obey the same law. This is how they keep parading people as yahoo boys as if the press is their law court but they keep losing cases because the don't follow due process. They will go and seize people's money without court order, which is illegal . Unfortunately, there is no direct way to indict the EFCC officials when they break the law except by appealing your case to a higher court over several years. |

This DSP IS A LIAR FROM THE PIT OF HELL ‘Cop killed ex-minister’s daughter for refusing to open car door’ Fresh facts have emerged on the circumstances surrounding the killing in Abuja of Anita Akapson, said to be the daughter of a former Minister of Finance, Nenadi Usman. It was learnt that the 31-year-old, who was shot in her 2007 Honda Accord car, allegedly refused to alight when directed by the policeman who killed her on October 13. After demobilising the car by firing at the tyres, the Superintendent of Police, who shot her, was said to have asked Akapson to come out of the car but she reportedly refused, fearing that she might be harmed. Sources close to the investigation informed our correspondent on Tuesday that the cop insisted that Akapson should step out of her car, but she refused to budge. “In an attempt to force the door open, the police officer fired at the car door and the bullet went through it, hit Akapson in the stomach and exited into the driver seat,” the source explained while tendering the picture showing the trajectory of the bullet. The Spokesman, Federal Capital Territory Police, Anjuguri Manzah, declined to comment on the case, saying investigation was still ongoing. Meanwhile, the family of the deceased has refuted reports that they have secured an independent investigator to probe the death of their daughter, describing the claim as erroneous.
