Definitely you can't feed them while on journey. They won't even eat if you do and if they do, they will vomit all out of stress. My advice. Feed them very well with a good feed 2 days after the arrival.

Now to settle you and other friends,

The issue of while patches manifests often due to stress from overcrowding of stock and not very good hygiene. The stock may have developed this due to transportation stress, handling stress, contaminated feed or equipment or not very clean water amongst other things. Adequate stocking density, proper feed storage and other biosecurity measures will help to prevent fish diseases if the stock was originally healthy.

But if an infection occurs like the issue of white patches on the skin of your fish it can be treated with Oxy-TetraCycline or a Constituent of Chloramphenicol prepared for Aquaculture use... Chloramphenicol drugs are stronger and usually target specific organisms unlike OTC which a broad spectrum drug and contains more than one pharmaceutical item. Get the FishBiotic or similar from your local Vet Store... Usually same people who sell feed to you often stock Aquaculture drugs too. Check the pack and follow the dosage instructions. When you complete the therapy, don't forget to apply fish vitamins a day after...

Before starting treatment, if you can...quarantine the infected individuals(to minimize the transmission)... While treating them apply the treatment also to the assumed healthy stock, probably a lower dose and watch both to compare results.

----Preferably mix drugs with the feed---- if you're pelleting your feed this works best. You can mix in the drug before pelleting tho this depends on the type of machine you use anyway...feed formulation is a big topic.

----Before administering medicated feed ensure

*The water is clean.- 70% water exchange should be ok

* To starve the stock for while--If you want to apply the treatment in evening they should not be fed in the morning or afternoon so as to improve appetite and get them really hungry... 24hr off feeding will achieve this.---


In my practice I prepare medicated feed about 1-2hr before feeding to allow the drug bind on the oily feed

If you wish to prepare more than one serving, I'd suggest to prepare only the quantity you can exhaust for a day and store properly as you would store a drug. Unless you have a big refrigerator(Do not freeze o) that can contain the entire medicated feed you prepared for...say three days serving... Not sure what may happen if the mixture is exposed for long time to every nationality in air

Medicated feed is to be prepared according to dosage and used only if the infected stock respond to feeding...

Otherwise do a 100%water exchange, then lower the water level to about 30-40% as much to give them some room to swim but no so much space. This will allow you to properly administer the treatment without unnecessarily diluting the drugs excessively in the tank water and thereby reducing the strength of the drug. Apply treatment daily until symptoms disappear completely.
If you wish to be professional with this type of treatment you should calculate accurately the volume of water in the fish tank and follow the dosage instructions on the pack. Each dose of In-water treatment should be complete after 3hrs.... then you may flush the tank by running flow thru for some time or fill and drain at intervals till the water clears up a bit.

If you wish to use plants... Some call it organic farming ... Bitter leaves, Scent leaves , Paw paw leaves, herbal leaves you can consume raw.. (i haven't used roots o!) All can be juiced/squeezed and applied directly to your fish tank same way you will apply pharmaceutical treatment directly into the tank water.

It is the yolk but you need to be very careful when using egg yolk because of pollution that can easily result to ammonia. I will advice you go for 0.2mm and feed them just like a pinch of salt.

I don't think meat have the required protein content the fish needed in your feed formulation. Cow meat protein content is about 26 to 27 cp.

aerator is not the solution.... pls wenever ur fries are @ 2 going to 3weeks be very vigilant, this is a common phenomenon and it's cos @ this period along of their organs are coming up n this use up a lot of oxygen in that water body. Apply chicken oil or palm oil on the water and ensure they r less crowded.

Oga Chilan. Oil on the surface of water! Won't that block the entry of oxygen into the water? I m still learning.

Okay. Buy floxinor mix it with 10 litres of water and sprinkle it to their water in the pond, drain the water the follow day and replace with a fresh one. Anytime the mortality is getting very high floxinor is very active if it's a bacteria not body peeling. I guess injection powder you used initially should be procain pellicilin it is very strong antibioics. We need to treat what actually the problem. Good luck!

I stocked up my earthen pond with 2100pieces of healthy fingerlings, for the past four weeks they've been doing fine only to get there on Monday morning i find about 30 pieces dead and after I drained the water I treated them with salt and ashes which I used to use but it didn't stop. I have recorded over 1500 death. Prior to that time I used injection powder that someone introduced to me when I saw that they were not active. But whole thing started 3 days after I used the injection powder.plz anyone with an idea that can help.

what do you noticed in them? Swollen stomach or body peeling etc? Hope you don't continue feeding them when they were dropping?

please who has used BLUE CROWN (42% cp) feed and and SKRETTING (42% cp) feed all in 3mm and 4mm size. what was their results like.

I have used SKRETTING it is extremely good maybe because of blood meal it contains. I don't condemn BLUE CROWN because I have never used it.

Foaming it's a sign of a very low oxygen in your water, I guess they are crowded.
