i hear there was an election in ghana. it went smoothly, undecided perhaps even more smoothly than the US election. who says it is hard to conduct an election? all we need is sincerity.

http://www.theghanaianjournal.com/2008/12/08/bbc-comment-on-ghanas-election/

even the world acknowledged their election. someone argues nigeria has higher population making it harder to do an election. . . . well, i ask, what is the population of jos? does jos have a higher population than ghana? why couldnt there be a simple election in jos?

until we are able to conduct an election, and a census . . . . forget it. nothing good will come out of that enclave. only despondent management. and it is not an evil prophecy, just a simple statement of fact. just like saying it will be dark at night if nepa takes light

lol

olanajim:

Good question! That is what he should be talking about instead of covering his own failure. I remember that obj started the campaign abroad. Other prominent Nigerians have followed suit. It is a shame they are passing the blame instead of fixing the problems.

The problem is complex but can be solved. For instance, why on earth would FG laid the foundation for Polytechics discrimination and still expect people to enrol there? Govt need to solve the HND discrimination with sincerity.

Also where are the Technical schools that ought to absorb the youths? Some of them are now secondary schools!

Then this problem of engaging NCE, B.ed holders as the only qualified teachers in our schools is a problen of it own. We all know that in the last 10 years most of candidates enroling for NCE, B.ed are those who could not meet the JAMB scores and have no passion for education!

I have seen teachers running to their friends to help them solve questions they intend to give their students! I know, because I have been engaged by some of these teachers too. I once visited my uncle who works at a private school. I observe two women are with him that day. He was teaching them primary 5 maths! I initially thought they are adult education students. But when they left, I asked my uncle about them and he told me they are teachers! Concidentally, I took a friend of mine there to see if my uncle can help submit his cv. He had Bsc, and MSc. My uncle told me even with phd, they won't employ him unless he had NCE, or B.ed or PgdE! Yet, the same system comfortable with B.ed teachers that can't solve primary 5 maths!
shocked shocked Astounded!!

Politics / Graduates Not Employable? - Yar'adua Said So! by Africason(m): 1:43pm On Dec 12, 2008
Millions of graduates from Nigerian universities, Polytechnics and other institutions of higher learning in the labour market are not qualified enough to be employed, President Umaru Yar'adua has said.

'Solid' Topic! From experience i know it's difficult to get a job that matches your qualification if u hold a student visa in UK. Some years back, i received a job offer from one of the Financial Institutions in the UK but when they realised i had student Visa, it fell through.

But hey, after graduating from school, i was fortunate to get  an EEA Visa, went back to them and i eventually got a nice job.

Lucky me. cheesy

This comment is "properly" intelligent. He's found some defects in that article and thus has pointed it out fairly without any attack on characters here. Grazie bruv. Good man! At least u're making constructive 'rebuttal'
Career / Re: The 7 Biggest Banks In Nigeria - The Analysis by Africason(m): 1:36am On Dec 11, 2008
lol. dude, u make me laugh. Who said someone has achieved something? Being a 'city banker' is practically nothing but what i was saying is u can't hire me in ur firm because u can't pay my salary! Now u want to talk about the Queen's language? Bruv, don't go there. Watch ur grammar and punctuations. Have u suddenly become a linguist? hey! cheesy

Penultimately, read my first post. I said 'i just chanced on this piece of information and subsequently asked what people thought about it'.  Obviously, i didn't collate those figures and analysis. Did I? Mr get a grip! Read my write-up and digest it well before attacking my character as if i collated and analyzed those figures. Even my 7yr old cousin could make the head and tail of what i wrote with all the links provided to  that article. lipsrsealed

As "Rich Dad" rightly said u must be a frustrated banker indeed. grin Shalom!!

whass up:

am not suprised that is y most  graduates are unemployed you see with you nose.am better of as a frustrated banker than an unemployed graduate don't forget i can still stand up and train u when u are employed in my firm.mean while tha facts u guys are gnashing  teeth on is 2007 facts and not 2008 fact.check the table well.too many things have happened between 2007 and 2008 not to talk of the financial crisis happening in the world now too many banks have fallen some are trying nto stand and the best someone can do to help is brothers is to bring out a 2007 fact for year 2008. nawa

Mr, am not bragging but u can't pay my salary?!! And u, employ me in your firm!!? Sorry but i'm doing OK (city banker) not a Nigerian banker and am not some unemployed graduate hovering on this board. Get a grip man and smell the coffee!!!

Mind u, i didn't collate the information on that site thus if it's 2007 information do i give a self-service? Nope!  I guess the data they got was 2007's data hence the 2007 analysis.

Now, go to bed!! grin grin grin

Thnx 'UK Boy' 4 de compliment. Now i've got two more stations to add to my collection. If u check the naija stations on my site, u could find that some are not streaming coz the links are broken.

Music/Radio / Are These Countries Tech Savvy Than Nigeria? by Africason(m): 12:03am On Dec 05, 2008
I was trying to link to African Radio Stations on my site (http://www.africanewsonline.net) thus started researching but what i discovered shocked me. Where as i found 20+ online streaming radio stations for each of these countries ( Ghana-30+, South Africa, Senegal, Somalia, Tunisia, Algeria), Nigeria had only about 3 working (some links were broken) online streaming stations.

My question is are these countries much more tech savvy than Nigeria or just Nigeria isn't interested in online streaming radios?

One thing we must also remember is about 5 years ago, the guy was getting less than 5m+ views a day but the site has grown hence the 20m+ views currently. He wasn't earning that much as well but he's now making it big!  He has  chosen to make his site unique. No site in the News service biz has the same template as Drudge's barring Whatsonnews.com of course. lol.

As the original article said, if u strip all the other news sites, they all almost have the same templates but Drudge's site is different(unique). I will admit its ugly in some sense but hey, let him enjoy his ltd success. He just wanna stand out from the pack  lol

Ping,

The interview was on Friday and early Monday, i got the notoriously expectant letter saying 'unfortunately i had not been cosen, '.

But hey, live goes on and am doing great now.

pie1ct & xclusiv, drudgereport is ugly, simple yet effective. The site is simple because it doesn't require much skill(s) in designing it but i can say it's effective because it keeps visitors coming for more. It now gets 20m+ odd views every day so it means he's doing something right. Viewers are sent out to other site but they keep coming back for more info because we tend to want to  find out the next breaking news headlines in town.

I've built a site WHATSONNEWS.COM based on that model and it took me just about 2 hrs in doing it and within just three months, i've got google PR4 due mainly to the freshness of the site's content (every headline link is unique) and updates automatically quite frequently.

NB: It's estimated Matt Drudge earns about $1mill a yr from that.
