hahahahahaa, beating arnd the bush..., i can even fly inside d bush, if it requires, bt dts nt really beatin arnd d bush, its just logical finkin', lets look @ it calmly, dt should be in the 1960's, what will african's teach themselves abt military, even if the sch' is in nigeria, it would still be controlled by the british then.... Bt anyway, u really tried..... ONE LOVE...!
Cherrs for the acknowledgement. Let me tell u one thing though. Ghana gained independence in 1957, and i will admit from that time till Sept. 1961, the British officers were still manning those top military positions.
Read this snippet:
General H. T. Alexander, the British Chief of Ghana's Defense Staff from 1960 to September 1961, relates in his memoirs that Nkrumah - like Sekou Touré, Modibo Keita, and more recently Julius Nyerere - came to believe that the armed forces owed loyalty to the party as well as to the state, because the party was equivalent to the state. Alexander had argued against this thesis, successfully it seems, but after his dismissal and the assumption of command positions by Ghanaian officers, Nkrumah was inclined to attempt to tie the Army more closely to the regime . Can Read more here http://home.comcast.net/~amaah/writings/ghana-without-nkrumah-men-in-charge.html

That tells u that @ least from 1962, Ghanaian officers were manning those positions and the first attempted coup was made on Nkrumah.
Another snippet:
From 1957 to 1961, there were no difficulties with civilian control of the military. British officers held the command positions, and the inculcation of British tradition forbidding military excursions into the civilian sphere proceeded without interference.
Till 1961, British held those positions but after that time, those positions went to the Ghanaian officers and it must also be noted that those Ghanaian officers had already being to the Sandhurtsa and Dartmouths of this world.

I am just a student of history in my idle time and I just don't attempt to throw dust unto people's eyes. I give praises when due. I give what belongs to Ceasar to Ceasar. If naija as the 12th largest producers of oil gets their priority right, they could rival the biggest economies in this world, but until that, they would be a green big chicken with mere potential.

dounleedee: This forum so far only confirms one thing; Africans are simply ignorant backward people.
Personally, I don’t agree with this opinion and I know there are a lot of people on this forum who disagree as well
Europeans don’t trust each other and are quick to take a bash at each other whenever it is convenient. This notwithstanding, they recognise the need to come together politically, economically and socially for the benefit and in the best interest of their people.
A strong politically and economically strong Ghana will be an immense benefit to West Africa and to a larger extent Africa just like a strong Nigeria or any of the remaining 51 African countries too.
How do we develop as Africans economically if we don’t share human, material and technological resources positively as a people?
So Ghana wants to deport illegal immigrants running businesses in the informal sector of their economy; that is simply just practical economics because people in the informal sector hardly pay income and business taxes talk less of illegal immigrants who are completely untraceable.
If our own leaders in Nigeria can’t see the logic and practicality of such thinking, why blame the Ghanaian policy makers for good thinking? Why should people who are not part of your budgetary and physical planning data and are not contributing to the growth of your economy formally be running your economy down just as we experience in our own land with our policy makers turning blind eyes?
No one country can lay claim to any major technological advancement in the world without the input of other countries, which is why the internet to me remain the most phenomenal technological tool of our generation. Let us embrace its usefulness and benefits positively.
Instead of dwelling on the negative, why don’t we start to learn from each other to make our continent greater?
Thank you!

Eh eh eh.... Lwkmd, very soon u will say u trained m. Muhammed buhari, ibb an co, for ur info, obasanjo did his trainin' @ sandust aldershoot u.k, and dssc wellington, pls anytime ur elders call u to come and hear some cheap lies, jst use ur common sense, by @least asking them for the names of the sch' for us to verify ur false claims... K, maybe u mean to say obasanjo and others came to lecture ur infant armies, pls can u also tell me the name of one of ur generals, cos i don't know any.... N don't jst say ojukwu partly trained in ghana, tell us xactly where...!
Here you go with Ojukwu being partly trained in Ghana as well :

In 1957, again in an attempt to distance himself from his privileged upbringing, he joined the army. His father was so against this decision that he did not speak to his son for the next two and a half years. Meanwhile, the younger Odumegwu Ojukwu completed officer training in England at the Officer Cadet School at Eaton Hall and was commissioned a second lieutenant. After attending the Infantry School in Warminister, England, the Small Arms School in Hythe, England, and the Royal West African Frontier Force Training School in Teshie, Ghana, he returned to Nigeria in 1958 and was assigned to the Fifth Battalion in Kaduna.

Obasanjo's Training:
I had an admission to Fourah Bay College in Sierra Leone. I had a scholarship to study geology in UCLA as a student from Non-Self-Governing territory and now, I had admission to go to Teshie in Ghana for military training as an army officer. What would I do? I thought that taking up the scholarship could be delayed. So, I wrote for it to be delayed for one year and then I went to the military training, which was for six months. My belief was that if the army did not work out, I would take up my scholarship with the UN. I went and the army thing worked out. After 22 weeks, we had an interview and I was selected and I became a soldier. It was when I got into the army that I developed the interest; it wasn't before joining them.

What was your experience in the army?

I was first of all shocked. When we got to Teshie near Accra, on our first day, there was this British sergeant-major present as we alighted from the bus that took us there. He shouted, 'Common, carry your heads left right, left right.' This wasn't what I bargained for and two of our members, within the first three days, opted out and went back home. Although the idea of going back never occurred to me, I wasn't prepared and I didn't know that the aim of that exercise was to break you and then rebuild you or remould you. That was how one became recruited into the military community. I endured it; that was my first experience. Then we started going on parade. This same sergeant-major, who was part of the team, would look at any of us and say, 'Obasanjo, you are deformed!' And I would look at myself and wonder if I was really deformed. Or he would say to any of my colleagues, maybe a Sierra Leonean, Ghanaian or Nigerian, 'Look at him, look at him! He is not fit to be my servant and they sent him here to be an officer!' It was all part of the idea to break us, but then we got used to it. We later knew Sergeant-Major Cameron for what he was; we lived with him. From: http://odili.net/news/source/2011/aug/28/818.html

Now General Yakubu Cinwa Gowon:
In 1954, after passing an entrance examination, he attended several interviews before being sent to the Regular Officers Cadet School at Teshie in Ghana – along with Patrick Anwuna, Alexander Madiebo, Michael Okwechime and Arthur Unegbe. This was followed by a course at Eton Hall in Chester, UK, followed by formal cadet training at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst (RMAS). He was a Cadet Sergeant at the RMAS and was commissioned 2/Lt in December 1956. It was at the RMAS that he acquired the nickname “Jack,” the closest sound to “Yakubu” his British instructors could think of. From: http://www.dawodu.com/omoigui39.htm

Brigadier Benjamin Adekunle (rtd):
After basic training at the ROSTS in Teshie, Ghana, he proceed to the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst in the UK. He was commissioned 2/Lt on December 15, 1960. From: http://www.simplynigeria.com/content/nigerian-civil-war-owerri-1969-appendix

Former Lt. Col. Alexander A. Madiebo:
Biafran Major General Alexander A. Madiebo (rtd) joined the Nigerian Army on May 28th, 1954 after secondary education at the Government College, Umuahia. He attended the ROSTS in Teshie, Ghana, before proceeding to the Eaton Hall Officer Cadet School in Chester, England, after which he attended the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst. From: http://www.simplynigeria.com/content/nigerian-civil-war-owerri-1969-appendix

Now if you read this page http://www.simplynigeria.com/content/nigerian-civil-war-owerri-1969-appendix , you'll notice that many of your officers were partly trained in Accra - Ghana. I don't have time to dig all that up and i hate to dabble in these kind of things(shenanigans) but some ignorants have to be compelled to STFU for once!

It's never nice to see these naija-ghana bickering but what i've realsied is that some naija folks always take things personal. They make things to look, every measures taken by the country ghana is all about them, which is wrong. They've come up with their regulations, who are u to tell them to stand down? I will say go Bleep yourself! cheesy

Why won't u stay in ur fools paradise....?

As for me i always believe ghanians are lesser bein', even if u paste gold all over ur streets.... Inferior baboons..
There goes that comples issues u have. Thinking someone is a lesser being? What a tool!

The operative word there is "buy". Ghanaians buy 10% of their gas from naija and naija is compensated for that, thus Ghana can buy from a different country as well. That gas is not free. Is that a favour? Oh Lawd! undecided

I asked y, he said because they are fools..
He also said those days, when nigeria wins a football match, even when its not against ghana, dt d ghanians would start burning nigerians shop and doing all sort of things.... So d hatred don tae...

Ask him where his hero, Ojukwu partly trained as well... Ghana! Ojukwu signed the Aburi accord in where? Ghana. Ghana counseled and reminded him about the dangers of the civil war knowing very well the consequences and the repercussions yet he broke that accord.

Now you know why he flew to Ivory Coast instead of Ghana? Cos Ghanaman as I know is a forthright person... hospitable and true to his words but when u trample on his advise, don't expect him to pick you up when the chips are down. He will tell u to go Bleep ur self. I will say it again, it's about time naija start letting that potential shine thro them. All the resources are pooo untill u start managing them effectively.

^^^You two fools need to get a grip and stop trying to punch above your weight. Since you 'illegals' have been evesdropping on our interaction and conversations with one another on this forum, you obviously have learnt about one or two issues we have as a country, hence the pathetic and whimsical attempts at insults.

For the record, i have no problem with you ungrateful lot sending ALL Nigerians packing from Ghana. Infact i'd prefer it that way, as your noise and shakara is getting a bit too much. But what i'm against -hence the posts i've made on this thread thus far- are the duplicitous, backstabbing, treacherous, eat-you-cake-and-have-it nature of your gov't and people: by all means send illegals packing, but you cross the line when you want to remain a member of ECOWAS, yet ask legitimate Nigerian Businessmen and Women to pay $100,000 to be able to operate a business in your country (no matter the level or kind of business they own); when you ask Nigerian Actors/Actresses to pay a specified amount to shoot movies and music videos in Ghana (which was stopped when Nigeria retaliated); when you ask Nigerian shop owners that have established businesses in your country to pack and leave b'cos their line of business is now the sole prerogative of Ghanaians; when you frustrate a company like GLO from establishing in your country just b'cos it's Nigerian owned (though you've recently come to your senses); and many other under-hand, shady shenanigans you guys get up to.

The fact of the matter is that we are seeing the beginnings of a xenophobic culture being born in your country and it will ultimately lead to your downfall. You only seem to value Whites and lebanese in your country, but just hate to see a Nigerian make the same kind of progress these other two groups of people make.

When you talk of "running your mouths" and "thinking he's the big brother over some imagined country", you just need to know that -as far as Africa is concerned- we have earned the right to do just that and will continue 'brag'- so learn to live with it. Ask Liberia, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Namibia and your immediate past President Kuffour (a guy we Nigerians like b'cos he's one of the few Ghanaians that knows our recent shared history and appreciates us as we do him and the good ones among you); ask the listed if we've been inconsequential noise makers like you fools want to believe.

Unlike you guys, EVERYONE is welcome to Nigeria (legal immigrants of course) and the same rule that applies to us applies to any other ECOWAS citizens. We're big and strong enough to take on any competition wherever it may come from.

So just follow the rules, and whoever gets hard-done-by in the process can't blame anyone but himself.
NONSENSE from an imbecilic dunce! A deranged delinquent i might add. You call someone a fool and you complaining about insults? All what u wrote are vituperations from a deranged sokoto goat.

Now, I know some folks are stack ignorant and deluded. Delusions of grandeur? As i said earlier, you have potential, but potential is nothing until u start to make it work for u.

Penultimately, Ghana have come up with their measures and it's not about naija alone. Those "illegals" involve loads of nationalities. Are some Nigerians the only illegal immigrants there? You think naija is relevant to ghana? Don't hype yourself mate. Its never about u.

If you don't like their measures, dude, i guess u can take a hike. Go take some chill pill. cheesy And who says I am ghanaian living in Ghana? I have been there 4x as many times i have been in naija in my lifetime.

A fool like u would always want others to believe some imagined hype about him. Go sit somewhere, mate! Well, if EVERYONE is welcomed in naija, guess what, Ghana have come up with their measures, if u don't like it, take the beat! Its their country and they run it as they see fit. You have a problem with that? undecided I believe nobody is stopping the " illegals" from regularising their stay in Ghana. It's not about Naija alone... its about all other "illegals". What a schnook!!

Mr Everest: what a ignorant writeup but allow me to educate u a bit, Japan u called small is actually d 10th most populous country in d world, football wz invented by d English bt modernized by d Brazilians. U said dat Ghana sent teachers to Nigeria in 1960, r u 4 real? FYI @ independence there were far more teachers in southern Nigeria than in G.C. During 0BJ's tenure, he gave Kufour a grant worth millions of dollars. Ghana shud b comparing itself wit fellow banana reps like Togo becouse d rest of west Africa put togrther is less than d population of Nigeria. D economy of Lagos state is far bigger than that of Ghana. Our politicians may b bad bt dat does nt mean our potential shud b disregarded.
Such an ignorant folk from another planet. Who didn't know footy was invented by the English? Read the quote by Odegbami here http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A31868887 and tell me he didn't admit to the fact that Ghana taught u the beautiful game.

Now, I know some folks are stack ignorant and deluded. Delusion of grandeur? Your population being that of the number of the whole of west africa means nothing if u can not put it into good use. As i said earlier, you have potential, but potential is nothing until u start to make it work for u.

I always laugh when i see naija folks trying to portray they are better than others. Listen, I am 50% Ghanaian, 25% Naija and 25% German and I have also associated with vast amount of folks from both countries and can thus deduce which ones are the realists.

I belive when Ghana communicated that message, they were talking about illegal immigrants in general and not Naika folks alone but, lo, Naija folks would make it all about them. No surprise there at all. When a Ghanaian make a declaration, DO NOT doubt him, cos they most of the time have had back-up plan already. On the other hand, the average naija would beat his chest and run his mouth...

I read some folks also quoting Ghana are ungrateful bunch. Seriously? Do they depend on naija to feed them? Now, thats funny! Again, where from that 'big brother' tag you guys normally throw around? Big brother in what? For the mere fact that naija is about 4x bigger than ghana or something else? Lol

Other folks are also saying ghana should compare themselves to Enugu and all that. The question is why should they? on what basis? Ghana is a sovereign state that is about about 1/3 of naija with people who really PUT THOUGHTS into what they do and say. Their folks have superlative mindsets... If a Ghanaian would want to tell you to go Bleep yourself, he do so without mincing any words.

Remember, all countries have illegal immigrants including the UK,China, Nigeria, USA etc. and Ghana have decided to act on that problem so be it. What is your beef there? Can someone please tell me what Ghana actually trade with Naija? As someone said, Ghana do not have businesses in Naija like the MTN's and co as SA have, so it would be difficult to force their hand. I believe they have human resources in Naija but Naija also have their there as well(a lot actually).

Back to those calling Ghanaians ungrateful. It must be noted when Naija gained independence, Ghanaian teachers were recruited to Naija help out. The cocoa seed was imported from Ghana to Naija, football was exported to Naija(ask Odegbami) and a lot more...Well, i don't believe Ghanaians are targeting Nigerians and that directive was against all illegal immigrants. Anyone who has lived in Ghana and built his home and business there can regularise his stay i believe.

Most Naijas should jump down from their high horses and smell the coffee and note that its not all about them! For the ignorants saying Ghana is a small country, NEWSFLASH, Japan is also a small country but they're the third largest economy in the world. NOTE: I don't mean Ghana's economy is great but what i am trying to say is that the size of country doesn't matter when that counrty is being judged. Currently, Ghana is being managed better than Naija.

Naija with that enormous resource should take cue and if they do, they would be competing with the Chinas, Germans and Japans of this world! In the mean time, the average Ghanaman sets his priorities right and is more efficient and effective with no hype. He/She goes about doing his/her 'thing' coolly, yet so effective!

Rooney made a silly mistake yet Capello came to his defence cos he is key to d project,I wander what siasia would av done.                 Nigerians are mediocres wen it comes to mgt in varying sectors. In football if your player refuses to score, defend, makes a bad tackle, dribbles too much, score an own goal, concede a good goal it is a managers fault. Win or lose its all down to the manager and that is why they are hired and sacked.                                                      Managers are good at different levels,Siasia is good at getting to underage tournament final with overage men.mayb he shuld stick to that. They scored goals but was it wen it mattered most?.The guinean players are not better than our players don't be decieved, what they have is a good coach. They came to draw with us in our own home, with our destiny in our hands not theirs. The difference is dat the guinean coach made his players play while ours was tripping. A coach needs to understand motivation and discipline.                                         I have too much to say but I will cut it short, not every one or footballer is meant to be a coach,it is a gift no need wasting your time.Cameroun and Egypt have sacked their coaches. We can hire the Guinean coach at least I saw a pattern to their game, their response at the beginin of the second half and after we scored 2-1.  Pls let's forget d sentiment of foreign or local coaches, the truth is that we don't have good local coaches to take us to the next level. Not too many African teams can boast of the players we have.Trophies are won with the tactical depth of a coach. Sia Sia shuld go before e tia tia us finish.

Yeah, because he's a Ghanaian. U don't believe me? check his wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samson_Siasia  Now, you see why Ghana didn't score Naija in the last friendly? His countrymen wanted to save his a55! Born in Accra, 1967.
Sports / Ghanaians Are Ungrateful - Siasia by Africason(m): 2:28pm On Oct 10, 2011
I jusr read this story on Ghanaweb. Is it true?

London- Nigeria national football team coach Samson Siasia has lunched a verbal attack on the Ghanaian football body and it's fans. Siasia who will be facing the Black stars of Ghana on Tuesday is angry that Ghanaians are calling on the Black stars to beat Nigeria after the Super Eagle's disappointing 2-2 draw with Guinea that knocked them out of next year's African cup of Nations.

Speaking to DWFA.com, the visibly upset Siasia expressed his angered towards Ghanaian fans in general. Siasia claims he gave Ghana a lot to laugh about on Saturday afternoon and it is time they repay him by letting him win the match on Tuesday to keep his job.

" I can't believe what I have been hearing from the Ghanaian press. I gave Ghana a lot to entertained themselves with. It is not easy to make sure a team like the Super Eagles miss out on a big tournament like that. They[Ghanaians] want to beat us again? For what?"

He then went on to call the Ghanaian football community ungrateful while pleading to the Black stars to have pity on him.

" These fans are ungrateful. I gave them an entertaining afternoon and it is time for them to pay me by letting me keep my job. I hope the players we meet on Tuesday will have mercy on my team and not increase the unemployment rate" said a very disappointed Siasia

Both Ghana and Nigeria arrived in London on Sunday morning and trained in the late afternoon. Kickoff for the game is at 1400 GMT.

Akainzo:

Libya and Sudan figures are wrong!  To normalise things, CAF would remove the points for the last p,aced team, that way ALL teams would be judged against 3 teams. You therefore have to normalise Libya and Sudan's figures.

Actually, the bottom teams' matches have already been removed. If the scoreline had stayed 2:1, Naija would have qualified due to Ghana beating Sudan earlier today. The table below with Naija currently  on 5 points and + 3 goals would have been  Naija on 7 points and +4 goals. Sudan would have been on 7 points but + 1 goal, which means Naija would have qualified witth the 2:1 scoreline!

               P      W     D      L      GF    GA     GD  PTS
Libya    4    2    2    0    2    0    +2    8
Sudan    4    2    1    1    3    2    +1    7
Angola    4    2    0    2    4    5    –1    6
Nigeria    4    1    2    1    8    5    +3    5
Cameroon4    1    2    1    4    4    0    5
CAR     4    1    2    1    3    3    0    5
South Afri   3    1    1    1    3    2    +1    4
Zimbabwe 3    1    1    1    2    2    0    4
Gambia    3    1    0    2    4    5    –1    3
Burundi    3    0    2

Well, little bros, Ghana tried lending you a helping hand but that last minute equalizer spoilt it for Naija!

With Ghana beating Sudan today, they might have done Naija a favour. . .  I got to check. If they had drawn with Sudan. surely both Sudan and Ghana would have qualified automatically. But them beating Sudan might give Naija a chance.

Business / Re: Ghanaian, 31, Pulls Off Britain's Biggest Banking Fraud by Africason(m): 12:54am On Sep 18, 2011
Are some folks here that uninformed?! The guy was a star trader making billions for UBS hence his promotion/elevation to the status of directorship at UBS equity trading in such a short time.  Kweku was on a six figure salary a year and much bigger bonuses whenever he makes £££ for UBS.

To go rogue like that, a trader must have incurred some losses in one of his activities and probably tried to recoup that money lost with an amount that wasn't authorized by his superiors. Thus, he gambled on a market that wasn't favourable and came out bruised. I believe he had gone through the same episode before and probably came out fine with huge profits that covered those losses - a huge bonus earned there (a pat on the back). The boy is really exceptional at his job. A genius in fact!

Normally, the managers would know whats up with your activities, look at the other side and reward you when you're successful. The problem arises when you hit a snag and big losses set in. You're then labelled 'rogue' for not seeking authorization before 'gambling' away such colossal amounts.

Unlike, the other rogue traders, Kweku reported the losses incurred himself. He alerted his superiors himself and was subsequently arrested at his desk 3.30 am. He was still working when he was arrested, unlike the other rogue traders that went on the run. That means he had nothing to hide, so some folks here better ascertain or learn a thing or two about equity trading before spouting incomprehensible and ridiculous accusations. The guy never took money for himself! Could you imagine the deliberations and lobbying in the office before opting to hang him? They just want a fall guy. . .

Maybe he will get some months for unauthorized trading(deemed fraud here). But hey, he could well be exonerated as well.
Business / Re: Ghanaian Rogue Trader Cost UBS $2Billion Dollars? Ghana Outdoes Nigeria by Africason(m): 2:41am On Sep 16, 2011
@ globexl, Thanks for knowing your stuff!

adctrl:

This is very disgraceful, and coming from Ghana who always reckon they are saints!!!

I was looking to get into UBS , BOA or one of the investment banks but I bet this Ghana boy has spoilt some black peoples chance (including me) of getting into certain roles. I guess you are thinking the UK is a big place but I can imagine this will still have an effect on how many blacks they take for certain positions.
$2 billion? Can you imagine the kind of ITT (International Thief Thief) this guys is?

Thank God he didn't have the chance to claim he is from Nigeria because most black Africans that are caught in bad acts overseas used to say they are Nigerians because our passports used to be cheap to get.

Now to you Sir. . . do you even know what you are spewing about? I guess you got to look for another career path cos you ain't gona cut it in investment banking with these empty rhetorics - some basic trading stuff you don't have a grasp of and you wana work in what field?! Do you even know what rogue trading means? How loses are made? Lol. . . or you thought he stole the money? Oh deary me! undecided JeeZ!! embarassed
