Sources from the family's side in abeokuta just said that his mother died this mornin in abeokuta. She was said to be 82yrs. may God grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Maria Taiwo Abati, the mother of the Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati

Mr. Abati made the announcement of the death on behalf of his family.

The late Mrs Abati, 81, was described as a devout Christian, a very kind and loving person. She was born on 7th August 1931.

She was born into the family of late Samuel Jobo Arowotadina and Late Elizabeth Efundunke Arowotadina of Ijemo, Abeokuta. She was a trader at Kuto Market for many years and was popularly known and addressed as Mama Adunni or Mama Sunday.

She is survived by children, grandchildren and great grandchildren including Mr. Abati; Robert Abati, a Geologist with Dangote Cement; Ralph Abati, a banker with Fidelity Bank Plc; and Lanre Abati, an Economist and Chartered Accountant. She is also survived by her twin sister, Victoria Kehinde Olude.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later, the presidential aide said.

I personally will nt believe her statistics. A lot of Nigerians misunderstand the word 'education', thus anyone who does nt fit into their definition of 'education' is an illiterate. For God's sake there are two types of education,formal and informal and anyone who has any of them is never an illiterate. What is the doctor who drives to work without a vulcanizer to pump his tyres wen flat? No form of education is useless,infact,for a nation such as our dear Naija,formal education has proven to be a neccessary evil we must live wit. If nt,how do u explain a graduate studying a course he's nt passionate about just because he needs the papers? No wonder most end up stealing frm the companies they work for. There's a thread on our dear nairaland dat speaks more on this. I dnt have the link bt u can google 'how the lives of Nigerian youths are being wasted through education by patrickkkk nairaland'.

I think madam Ezekwesili should knw wen to speak facts and wen to do politics. Imho.

I think I'll side with Mr Governor on this. I once had an opportunity to work wit a developer somewhere around lagos. We worked everyday but on sundays. The thing is dat d owner of d building has a brother who helps monitor the jobs. On this fateful week,he told d developer he wil be going to a wedding party by saturday. Before now,we were supposd to cast the decking of the building and it would require lots of cement. The developer nw informed us nt to resume the casting work til saturday. On that day,he first reduced the budgeted cement by half and carted them away,before work began. As his supervisor,I couldnt question him cos I know he knew I understood wat he did.

There is a degree of wisdom in dat decision,imho.

I opened the bic shaving stick pack I bought and saw a gift ticket inside bt wen I scratched the card,all I saw was a 'c'. I was told to take down to cfao office to claim my gift. I dnt want to go down all the way to Apapa and get to receive just a pack of pen or noodles. I dnt tink its worth it.
