Crotalus: Its silly to think a deployment of the military can bring peace to the region. America, with its frightful military machinery, have been in Afghanistan for a decade now yet the fighting has not stopped.
Boko Haram are not a regular army. What happens if they up the ante and deploy their suicide bombers in the six geo political zones and bombs start going off in Lagos, Abuja or Prot Harcout. Let's not forget their possibly affiliated to Al Qaeda, Al Shabab and the Taliban. Would we declare a state of emergency in the entire country? Highly unlikely!
In my opinion, this use of force against an asymmetrical force is wrongheaded. I don not believe Boko Haram are faceless. Too many of their operatives - both high and low ranking - have been arrested for that. Intelligence and a targeted approach should be used, like what the US is doing in Yemen with its drone strikes.

You are fool if you think America's aim was to bring peace to the Nation of Afghanistan,if you follow global politics you will know better-America simply went into Afghanistan to exact revenge and they do not care less what it takes to inflict some degree of pains and damage on their enemies.

Army Warns Of Boko Haram Using Fake Military Camouflage

The Nigerian Army has alerted the public on the use of military camouflage by members of the Boko Haram sect to perpetrate violence and create an impression that the military is responsible.

The Chief of Civil Military Affairs of the Nigerian Army, Major General Mobolaji Koleoso, told a news conference in Abuja on Friday that most of the terrors unleashed on civilians which are blamed on the military are perpetrated by the insurgents.

He claimed that Boko Haram’s evolving tactics of using phony military camouflage, aided the massive casualties in Bama, Borno State where they dressed as members of the Nigerian army.

Almost 200 lives were lost in the Bama massacre during an onslaught between the military and the Islamic insurgents.

The Drivers and Conductors currently in lagos that have no dresscode restriction already smell worse than the Lagos carnal, is it now when you restrict their dressing that they would start washing their uniforms?! This is utter nonsense. Lagosians dont give a rats ass what the drivers are wearing, what they want is for these drivers to be properly regulated by the government (NOT NURTW).

- Like the yellow cabs of New York, all Bus drivers should be mandated to display their drivers licence and vehicle registration/permit (in-form a a large sticker) visibly in the bus. This sticker must carry the drivers face on it. Same for conductors.
- All conductors should be registered with an agency and be given and numbered vest and Large font government/agency issued I.D card which they must be mandated to wear visibly at all times. This agency should be responsible for regulating the activities of conductors including the nonsense attitude of hanging on a moving bus with the door wide open, e.t.c.
- A Telephone number (Preferably a shortcode number like 555) for reports and complaints against drivers should be also given to the public and be displayed in the vehicle at all times. This line should be used for reporting badly behaved drivers and also report cases were a bus is being used for criminal activities.


A slow phasing out of certain buses should also comence. This is 2013, Molue has no place in the future we are all aspiring towards. Danfo sef should now be extinct. slowly phase ou these buses and replace them with only one or two brands of buses for uniformity sake. Overloading of vehicles should also stop. e.t.c


There is so much work to be done in sanitizing the transprot system of Lagos (and Nigeria) and uniforms is not one of them. More than three quarters of the bus drivers are not even properly trained to drive, dont know traffic rules and signs, have zero manners, e.t.c.

P.S Fashola!! How about making these bus drivers all get premium comprehensive insurance. I know its expensive, but they can under the aegis of NURTW come together and buy a group/fleet insurance. But it must be comprehensive. So that these bus Drivers will know that they have a lot to lose if they keep driving recklessly. The terms of the insurance must also cover compensation for deaths and injuries resulting from the bad driving of the driver and or his conductor. Thats what I and many Nigerian will love to see. God knows NURTW already makes so much money off of these drivers as it is and they dont account for it to anyone.[/b]

A Federal High Court in Lagos on Monday sentenced an Iranian, Azim Aghajani, and his Nigerian accomplice, Ali Jega, to 17 years imprisonment each for illegal importation of firearms into the country in 2010.

Justice Okechukwu Okeke found the two guilty of four, out of the five counts preferred against them by the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation.

Aghajani and Jega were alleged to have illegally imported 13-by-20 feet container load of firearms and explosives into Nigeria from Iran on July 17, 2010 by falsely declaring on the Bill of Lading that the consignment contained construction materials.

The judge sentenced the two to five years for each of three counts and to two years for the fourth count, ruling that the sentences would run concurrently from February 1, 2011, when they were arraigned.

He also ordered that all the items seized from the accused be forfeited to the Federal Government.

The judge however discharged and acquitted Aghajani and Jega of the offence of “being in control” of the imported firearms.

“As for count 1, which has to do with importation of firearms into the country without licence, there is no doubt that the accused persons actually imported the consignment,” he said.

He discharged and acquitted them of the offence in the second count, saying having not paid the necessary custom fees, the accused “could not be said to have been in control of the consignment”.

“There is no evidence that the payment of the custom duty was made. If they had made any payment, I would have taken it that they were in constructive possession of the consignment,” he said.

He added, “It is not in doubt that the Bill of Lading which disclosed the consignment to have glass wool and pallets of stone actually contained arms and ammunitions.

“It is my view that the accused made a false declaration on the Bill of Lading they claimed contained glass wool and pallets of stones whereas it contained arms and ammunition.”

The judge also asked Aghajani’s counsel, Chris Uche (SAN), to liaise with the federal ministries of Justice and interior on his request that his client be allowed to serve his jail term in his home country.

The judge, who had given the accused persons and their lawyers the opportunity to plead for mercy, said their plea for mercy was “touching and moving” but that he had to follow the law.
