He said ANY player. If you say SAF decided on SOME players after a few minutes that is right, but for some others it took even SAF several games and in a few cases several years to decide whether they were good enough or not.

For instsnce we bought Tosic and he didnt play even one EPL game for us (to the best pf my knowledge). He had two appearances in cup fixtures. Bebe didnt appear in more than 2 EPL matches.

SAF did not play some young guys more than 30 minutes before taking the decision to send them away.

I did not say Ole should play all the youth players. A few of them have been putting in good to great performances at youth and reserve level and have been identified by the club as players with potential. They should be given the opportunity to prove themselves.

The same SAF gave Luke Chadwick 25 EPL games before sending him away. He gave Ronnie Wallwork almost 20 EPL games before sending away.
Jonathan Greening got over 10 games and even made the squad for the 1999 UCL final but within 2 years he was sent packing.

Fletcher got so many games despite struggling, with people claiming SAF was using Scottish quota to pick him before he came good.

Frank Lampard struggled initially at West Ham with people claiming that he got into the squad because his uncle was manager and his father was assistant.

If you say you believe in a set of youth players it is nonsensical to claim that after a few minutes of football they are no longer good or should be discarded.

I don't know which player of this set (if any) will make it at United but so far this season they have not had enough opportunity.

Ole should use the remaining Europa games to give Garner, Gomes and Chong starter minutes. Laird and Levitt can get quality sub minutes as well.

Chong 68 minutes in Europa plus 24 minutes in EPL= 92 minutes.

Gomes and Chong have played a combined 259 minutes this season. That is an average of less 130 minutes (or 1.5 games). And these minutes are scattered over multiple games.
Playing a youngster a total of less than 2 games is not giving him opportunity. Ole had better rest the entire first 11 for those remaining Europa League games.

All those cameos playing left wing and right wing and 10 minutes here and there playing AM no be am. I don't know if he is ready but the only way to find out is to give him a proper chance. And it doesn't have to be Gomes. It could be someone else, just not an expensive and expired product like Eriksen.

About a month ago i said Williams might start to bench Young or Shaw by the end of the season some people here were up in arms. Without getting these opportunities we would not know how ready he is.
