Personally this is what I don't like. The creators of this knock-off are better off labeling it with their own original brand name because only a fool wouldn't know that this is a poor at attempt at imitating Calvin Klein. I suspect the imitators don't want to spend money on branding their own creation so they want to reap where Calvin Klein has sown in the area of branding. I would rather purchase and proudly rock an unknown brand name than buy this sorry imitation.

Oh really? And it took this case to make that 'revelation' after all this while? You people are just trying to console yourselves. LCDAs that have been having elections since when? Where were Inec and the opposition parties since then? You think PDP has been stupid all along for not bothering to even broach the issue? Even the last LG/LCDA elections in the state were contested by PDP and other parties. Abdullahi knows he's talking nonsense he is just playing mind games to the gallery before he and Oyegun hand over to the next elected set. The matter simply won't stand in court.

This is a stupid conclusion. The Laws of Lagos State recognises 20 Local Governments and 37 LCDA. And the Supreme Court has held that this is not unconstitutional.
Exactly. Abdullahi was just talking trash. The Supreme Court judgement delivered in favour of Lagos after OBJ withheld the state's funds over the creation of the LCDA already settled that. Else, even the PDP would have long since gone to court over the constitutionality of all previous elections conducted at the LCDAs since their creation.

PoliticsUnpaid Bill: Ambode’s Wife Settles Account, Baby Goes Home by afroniger(op): 11:43am On May 31, 2018
https://punchng.com/unpaid-bill-ambodes-wife-settles-account-baby-goes-home/

For the first time since he was born in February 2018, Baby Ighodalo Oaikhena joined his family at their home in the Ikeja area of Lagos State on Wednesday.

This was after the wife of the Governor of Lagos State, Mrs Bolanle Ambode, paid his medical bill at the hospital where he was detained for three months.

PUNCH Metro had reported that Ighodalo was born premature at the Ifako General Hospital together with his twin sister.

The twins were taken to a private hospital, Inton Hospital, Ogba, Ikeja, where they were placed in incubators.

While the baby girl died in the first week, Ighodalo made it alive from the incubator and was put in a nursery.

The baby’s father, Michael Oaikhena, a driver; and the mother, Roseline, a teacher, had told our correspondent that they could not raise the N1.2m bill they incurred in the course of the treatment.

Michael had said despite the family paying N550,000 out of the bill, the hospital had insisted on collecting the N650,000 balance before releasing the baby.

He further alleged that the hospital threatened to take the child to an orphanage if the balance was not paid on time.

Although the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Mr Akeem Mustapha, denied the orphanage allegation, he insisted on the payment of the bill.

On Wednesday, PUNCH Metro learnt that a team of aides, acting on the instruction of Mrs. Ambode, visited the hospital and cleared the bill.

Our correspondent gathered that it was an emotional moment as the mother of the child, Roseline, broke down in tears of joy.

“She did not believe that she would be taking the baby home as she kept asking, ‘Am I really going home with my baby today?’ The aides to the governor’s wife were moved as well, as some of them fought back tears,” a source, who was at the hospital, said.

Michael confirmed the development in a telephone conversation with our correspondent, adding that he was at work when he was called that his baby had been released.

He said, “As I speak to you, we are going home with the baby. I was really happy when I got a call from an aide to the governor’s wife that my baby would be going home today (Wednesday). I went there and met them with my wife and by then, the money had been paid. I am now in a car with my baby. I am really happy and I appreciate the governor’s wife for this. I wish I could see her and hug her for the gesture.”

The Assistant Director, Public Affairs, Office of the Wife of the Governor of Lagos State, Mrs. Folashade Kadiri, in a statement on Wednesday, confirmed the payment.

She said, “Mrs Ambode’s attention was drawn to a publication in the PUNCH Newspaper of Wednesday, May 30, 2018, suggesting the detention of a baby for the past three months due to the inability of his parents to pay the medical bill.

“The governor’s wife had immediately directed the payment of the bill to enable the baby to reunite with his parents.

“The payment of N650,000 was made by the Asst. Director, Public Affairs, Office of the wife of the Governor, Mrs Folashade Kadiri, who also effected the baby’s release.

“The elated mother, Mrs Roseline Oaikhena, who was in tears, could not believe that she would be returning home so easily with her baby after the child’s three months compulsory stay in hospital after delivery.”

Christianity EtcTelevangelist Wants Followers To Pay For $54 Million Private Jet, It's His 4th by afroniger(op): 6:46am On May 31, 2018

By Cleve R. Wootson Jr., May 29

If Jesus were to descend from heaven and physically set foot on 21st-century Earth, prosperity gospel televangelist Jesse Duplantis told his followers, the Redeemer would probably take a pass on riding on the back of a donkey: “He’d be on an airplane preaching the gospel all over the world.”

And Duplantis thinks the Light of the World wouldn’t exactly settle for 30 inches of legroom or getting patted down by TSA.

Why would He choose anything less than the Falcon 7X, a private jet that nears the sound barrier but also has noise-limiting acoustic technology, a Bluetooth-enabled entertainment center and an optional in-flight shower?

Duplantis, saying he needs about $54 million to help him efficiently spread the gospel to as many people as possible, has asked the Lord — and hundreds of thousands of hopefully deep-pocketed followers across the world — for just such a plane.

He is the latest aircraft-seeking preacher to draw raised eyebrows and outright condemnation from critics who say asking for a multimillion-dollar luxury jet is not exactly what Jesus meant when he said “store up for yourself treasures in heaven.”

But this is not the first time Duplantis has been enmeshed in the preacher private plane debate. The Falcon 7X would be his ministry’s fourth jet — all paid for with cash drummed up from followers.

And before anyone asks, he already has an answer for nonbelievers and critics who want to know why, exactly, his ministry requires a luxury jet that would make his fleet the same size as Donald Trump’s.

“We believe in God for a brand new Falcon 7X so we can go anywhere in the world, one stop,” he told people on “This Week With Jesse,” a regular video broadcast on his website. The video on May 21 carefully mixed the gospel with a few insights into the economics of international aviation.

“Now people say … can’t you go with this one?” he said, pointing to a picture of the plane he uses. “Yes, but I can’t go it one stop. And if I can do it one stop, I can fly it for a lot cheaper, because I have my own fuel farm. And that’s what’s been a blessing of the Lord.”

Duplantis didn’t immediately return calls from The Washington Post seeking comment.

In the video, Duplantis didn’t specify which ministry-furthering missions the plane would be used for, although he has indicated in the past that he has an extensive travel schedule.

Duplantis is the founder of Jesse Duplantis Ministries, which includes a weekly television program that reaches 106 million U.S. households, according to his Amazon author biography. In 1997, he and his wife founded Covenant Church in Destrehan, La., just outside New Orleans.

“It is his mission to reach every soul of the 7 billion people that now inhabit the earth, making sure that each one has an opportunity to know the real Jesus — approachable, personable, compassionate, and full of joy-the way that he knows Jesus,” the biography says.

He preaches the prosperity gospel, which says God shows favor by rewarding the faithful with earthly riches. Giving money to pastors and their ministries, leaders say, is a sort of investment.

And prosperity gospel preachers have encouraged their flocks to invest heavily in aviation.

[Pastor Creflo Dollar might get his $65 million private jet after all]

In 2015, televangelist Creflo Dollar was widely mocked for starting “Project G650,” a means of getting a state-of-the-art Gulfstream G650 plane of his own, financed by his 200,000 followers. According to The Post’s Abby Ohlheiser, Dollar said he “needs one of the most luxurious private jets made today in order to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”

The campaign was widely ridiculed online, and Dollar never made it to the waiting list, which consisted mostly of billionaires.

Kenneth Copeland, another prosperity gospel adherent who has appeared on-screen with Duplantis, announced his ministry had purchased a Gulfstream V jet that probably cost millions. The announcement on Copeland’s website showed him wearing a bomber jacket in front of a gleaming white plane.

“Glory to God! It’s Ours!” the website said. “The Gulfstream V is in our hands!”

But the ministry needed more, it told followers. The plane was “an exceptional value” but needed another $2.5 million in upgrades. The ministry also needed to build a new hangar, buy special maintenance equipment and lengthen its runway to accommodate the new plane.

After making the ask, Copeland prayed on camera for God to bless contributors.

He and Duplantis defended their use of private jets in a widely shared — and mocked — YouTube video.

“The world is in such a shape, we can’t get there without this,” Copeland said of private aircraft. “We’ve got to have this. The mess that the airlines are in today I would have to stop, I’m being very conservative, at least 75 to 80, more like 90 percent of what we’re doing because you can’t get there from here.”

“That’s why we’re on that airplane,” he said. “We can talk to God.”

Copeland said he used to travel with faith-healing prosperity preacher Oral Roberts, who flew commercial, and it “got to the place where it was agitating his spirit. People coming up to him. He had become famous. And they wanting him to pray for them and all that.

“You can’t manage that today. This dope-filled world. And get in a long tube with a bunch of demons. And it’s deadly.”

During his request for a new plane, Duplantis said he realized some people would remain skeptical.

He said there was no obligation, and there was only one surefire way to determine what exactly God wanted them to do: pray.

“So pray about becoming a partner toward it, if you like to and if you don’t, you don’t have to, but I wish you would,” he said. “Because let me tell you something about it, it’s going to touch people. It’s going to reach people. It’s going to save lives one soul at a time …

“If you pray about it, I believe God will speak to you.”

Wow. It took you almost 24hrs to rebut my post. cheesy. Sotay you had to go and dig up a list of Jakande's achievements in office, AND YET YOU STILL FAILED to mention one model PDP government that can convince us to give them a chance in Lagos?? Is it that bad for PDP?? It is not Ambode's job to build another LASU, LTV, Radio station, or Assembly complex like Jakande did simply because there's no need for any of such presently. His government, just like his immediate predecessors, is maintaining and expanding the infrastructures he met on ground, while doing his part to complete the ones he inherited and also initiating his own projects. That is continuum! I have already listed a few of Ambode's achievements in his three years at the saddle (achievements that YOU refused to acknowledge in your PDP-induced bitterness and hatred for him), many of which Jakande did not do in his own time. Ambode is a man of vision who has great ambitions for Lagos -- he is not even thinking of Lagos competiting with other states in Nigeria but with other countries' economies. That is Vision! Unfortunately for you, while you are allowed to hate Ambode, you can do little to nothing to stop his reelection. That you refuse to acknowledge his achievements is your problem, but as you can see from this thread itself, your likes are in the tiny minority and therefore inconsequential. Sorry. undecided

Why are you comparing Ambode to PDP governors?
Are you afraid to compare his failure to the excellent job done by Jakande, Mobolaji Johnson and even Awolowo?
Why are you afraid huh
Why won't I compare him to PDP governors? No be your PDP wan replace am again? Abi you dey confused? Ambode is holding his own even compared to those people you listed. Jakande is remembered mainly for the housing estates he left behind, Mobolaji Johnson also did his bit, Awo has done his bit as well but I won't even compare Ambo to them because he might surpass some in the areas of infrastructure, and he is not even done with his first tenure. Ambode has attracted billions of Naira worth of businesses and industries into Lagos and is continuing to increase the state IGR as well as improve its infrastructure and service delivery. Why didn't either Mobolaji or Jakande or Awolowo open up Lekki-Ajah-Epe the way they're being opened up today? Why didn't they build the new bridges and infrastructure Ambode is building today? The reason is because government is a continuum and Ambode still has more projects that are coming on stream. Those people did their part, but they didn't do it all in their tenures. Ambode is working in line with (and adding to) a developmental blueprint that his predecessors developed and handed to him. Why can't any single PDP state replicate what Lagos has been able to achieve since '99? Yet you want Lagosians to hand over to those baseje people that have nothing to show since '99? You better move to Rivers or some other PDP State that tickles your fancy because Lagosians have rejected that party.

Are you joking or seriously joking huh
Yeah, world-class bus terminals, low interest loans for Lagos SMEs, flyovers, bridges, increasing IGR, free/subsidized human capacity development opportunities for Lagosians, a one of a kind emergency response system, and many other infrastructures which I am sure you are aware of, but that inherently dishonest PDP tendency of yours won't allow you to acknowledge these. We are talking about a man with a vision to take Lagos to heights that no single PDP governor can match. If na lie, please mention one single PDP state that can match Lagos' developmental vision. We don't want Lagos to turn to another Rivers that is retrogressing without vision under its current state leadership. Anyway, if you are so sure of yourself you are free to go and contest against him next year. undecided

Mr. Innocent should go to court and prove his innocence/clear his name if indeed he has nothing to hide. That is what a man of honour would do.

PoliticsRe: Lagos PDP Is Searching For A Popular Candidate To Face Ambode In 2019..see Names by afroniger:
PDP's best chance to 'capture' Lagos was in 2015 through Jonathan's federal might but they failed. Now that Lagosians have tasted Ambode's sterling performance, they stand zero chance no matter who they present. Besides, the state doesn't need a party like PDP to come and disrupt all the developmental plans on ground in the state. APC doesn't even need federal might to remain in power in Lagos.
PoliticsOkada Ban In Anambra: Operators Groan As 15,000 Lose Jobs In Onitsha, Awka by afroniger(op): 5:45pm On May 23, 2018
Tony Okafor, Awka

No fewer than 15,000 people will be thrown into the labour market in Anambra State following the ban on commercial motorcyclists in Onitsha and Awka, the Zonal leader, Motorcycle Transport Union of Nigeria, Kingsley Nworah has said.

He expressed reservation over the government’s decision, saying they were taken unawares.

The state government had on Tuesday announced the banning of Okada operations from July 1.

In a statement by the Press Secretary to Governor Willie Obiano, Mr James Eze, the decision was one of the resolutions reached at the state executive council meeting on Tuesday.

He said it was part of the overall strategy adopted by the government to deepen its crackdown on crime and restore sanity in Onitsha and Awka.

But Nwora while addressing journalists on Wednesday at the MOTUN office in Awka, the state capital, said the association had over 15,000 members in Awka and Onitsha who would lose their jobs because of the pronouncement.

He said most of his members were breadwinners of their families, wondering what would befall their wives and children in the circumstance.

He said,”We are not less than 10,000 members in Onitsha and about 5,000 members in Awka.

When reminded that the ban was a security control measure, Nworah asked,”Is it only Okada that is used to commit crimes? Haven’t they seen where cars, especially jeeps were used in robbery and kidnapping operations? Will they now ban jeeps in the state?

“Besides, we have always cautioned our members against getting involved in criminal activities, while we penalise the erring ones as a deterrent to others.”

Nworah who admitted that certain criminal activities were executed with the assistance of motorcycles, however, maintained that outright ban of commercial motorcycle operators was not the solution.

He said his union generated over N1.2m monthly to the state’s coffers as Internally Generated Revenue.

PoliticsOndo Assembly Reinstates Deputy Speaker As Akeredolu, APC Leaders Intervene by afroniger(op): 5:36pm On May 23, 2018
http://punchng.com/ondo-assembly-reinstates-deputy-speaker-as-akeredolu-apc-leaders-intervene/

Peter Dada, Akure

Less than 24 hours after the Ondo State Deputy Speaker, Mr. Iroju Ogundeji was impeached by his colleagues, the impeachment was on Wednesday reversed by the lawmakers.

Ogundeji, representing Odigbo Constituency 1 in the Assembly, was impeached by 18 out of the 26 members on Tuesday following an alleged misconduct and disagreement with the Speaker, Mr. Bamidele Oloyeloogun.

Immediately after, Mr. Bimbo Fajolu who represents Ile Oluji/Oke Igbo Constituency, was sworn in as the new deputy Speaker.

However, it was gathered that the impeachment reversal came following the interventions of the state governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, the chairman of the All Progress Congress, Mr. Ade Adetimehin and some other party leaders in the state.

The motion for reinstatement at the plenary session was moved by the Majority Leader of the House, Mr. Gbenga Araoyinbo, and was seconded by Mr. Fatai Olotu.

The Speaker, Mr. Oloyeloogun, also confirmed that the decision of the House to reverse the impeachment was effected by the leaders of the party — both in the state and outside the state.

He said, “Due to the intervention of the governor and some party leaders, the House hereby resolves that Iroju Ogundeji should be reinstated as the deputy Speaker.“

The atmosphere of the Assembly showed that majority of the lawmakers were not satisfied with the reinstatement.

One of them, who craved anonymity said, “ The drama has just begun, it is a season film.”

Addressing journalists shortly after the plenary session, the House Committee Chairman on Information, Mr. Fatai Olotu, who earlier seconded the motion for reinstatement, said it was a good development that the impeachment was reversed in the interest of peace.

“There is no law in the House that cannot be reversed; that is what we have just done today.

“Nobody can benefit in crisis. Nothing is too big to sacrifice in the interest of peace. We are not voted here to come and be fighting,” Olotu explained

Earlier, there was a shouting match at the pre-plenary meeting of the lawmakers, as members disagreed over the intervention of the governor to do the reinstatement.

Some of them insisted that Ogundeji must not return to the seat as the deputy Speaker.

A source in the Assembly said while the lawmakers declined the governor’s request, they told the governor that Ogundeji could not be reinstated but he could be given a soft landing in such a way that the
impeachment would be converted to resignation.

The source also narrated that the embattled deputy Speaker and another lawmaker almost exchanged blows at the corridor of the House during the fiasco.

It was, however, gathered that the governor eventually had his way after the APC chairman in the state, Ade Adetimehin, invited all the APC lawmakers to the party secretariat where the matter was finally
resolved.

There was a deployment of the security men in the Assembly to forestall possible breakdown of law and order.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Gbenga Adeyanju; and some other senior Police officers were also seen on the premises of the Assembly while the pre-plenary meeting was ongoing.

AS BIM/MASSOB ACCUSES JTF OF KILLING 5 MEMBERS, INJURING 4, ARRESTING 206 OTHERS

ACTIVITIES marking this year’s 18th-year-anniversary celebration of new Biafra yesterday turned bloody in Onitsha, Anambra state as members of the Biafra Independence Movement/Movement for Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra, BIM/MASSOB accused the joint military task force operating in the state of killing about five of its members.

BIM/MASSOB also accused the military task force of breaking the skulls of four of their members and arresting 206 others in what they termed a most gruesome manner.

Confirming the killings, injuries and arrests to newsmen shortly after the encounter, BIM/MASSOB’s Director of Information, Mazi Chris Mocha stated that while their members gathered at Obosi By-pass along the Onitsha/Owerri road, near Onitsha, the joint military task force including the Army, Navy, Police, Civil Defence, Department of State Services, DSS and others swooped on them with over 45 Hilux vehicles and opened fire, killing five of their members instantly.

According to Mocha, the JTF also used machetes to cut some parts of the bodies of four of their members, including their skulls, adding that the four victims of the machete cuts included Chief Vincent Iloh, Ebuka Emmanuel, Innocent Okolie, and Mrs Virginia Ubaezuonu in the desperate attempts of the JTF to disperse the crowd.

Mocha mentioned Chief Christian Ifejika, Declan Okafor, Gloria Umejesi, Rose Oforbike, Fidelis Oduenyi and 173 others as those arrested and whisked away to the unknown destination by the JTF among the in Onitsha.
