Nigerians are easily over satisfied. Maybe OBJ is now our hero for calling on Yar'dua to hand over. So what do you do in a country where there is no political hero/icon? I guess we can reinvent one by a figment of our imagination
Obj stands to lose nothing. If worse comes to worse, he will removed as BOT chairman and that has no effect on him.

Dora has just put her Job on the line. She did it eyeball to eyeball.

I hope the new memo is not withdrawn. The old Dora will not. I hope she has rediscovered herself.

It is share stupidity. I have read of another incidence about 5 years ago where a mother in Scotland snatched a her daughters fiancee. The daughter ended up being their made of honour and when she was asked how she felt about the whole saga, she said, the guy was happier with the mum. Crazy stuff!

My love-rat hubby bedded my mum, then my best palBy SAMANTHA WOSTEAR

. . . . ."She'd always been a bit bitchy towards him because she never wanted us to marry. I just thought it was because we'd lost Dad that they were making an effort to get on.

"I'd always been really close to Mum so I was pleased that they were getting on better."

Irene, 35, even spotted them holding hands one night, but 42-year-old Andy assured her he was just comforting Marlene.

When Irene asked if anything was going on he laughed and told her not to be ridiculous.

She says: "Andy said he thought I was suffering from depression and there must have been something wrong with me to even ask such a silly question.

"I hadn't taken Dad's death well so I thought I could be depressed. I told my GP I thought my mum and husband were having an affair - and he agreed it sounded like paranoia.

Then, two years later in 2002, she was stunned to discover the bombshell proof of an affair between her mum and husband.

Returning from a shopping trip, she found a note between the lovers which had been left on the stairs at the house in Richmond, North Yorks.

On one side 60-year-old Marlene had written how she couldn't wait to start a new life with her son-in-law and how she dreamed of running off to run a pub with him.

Car salesman Andy had replied on the other side, asking her to take things slowly.

Sick to her stomach, Irene confronted Andy, who ran out of the house. Then she turned to her mum.

She remembers: "I walked into the lounge, sat in the chair and asked her what the letter was. She looked at it and her face dropped.

"She just screamed that she was a better lover in bed than I was and Andy loved it with her more than me. I thought I would vomit. It was disgusting."

Irene grabbed sons Jamie and Lee - then aged six and three - who were playing outside.

They fled to family members - who admitted they had known about the affair but did not know how to tell her. By then it had been going on for at least a year.

I wonder why some people are just so dumb, myopic and biased. Its so pathetic!! Ah! When nobody was bold to speaking up you guys cursed them. Now someone has been bold to follow her conviction, you crucify her and doubt her motives. What a sorry set of individuals Nigerians are- very hard to please. I wonder if these people calling for her to resign would have spoken up if they are in her shoes. Its easy to criticise but do you think of how difficult it is to be a lone voice? Did you guys ask yourself what it would have meant for Dora to have voiced her opinion too early when nobody had any information on Yar'adua's health?

They call for Jonathan to speak up!, Dumb fellows!!!!. So you want him to speak for himself and be seen as a traitor? He does not need to fight for himself. The right thing for a man who is the subject of a controversial issue like this is to allow people fight for him. This does not mean he is too docile or inactive. He is just watching his head and he is brilliant for this.

There is no point telling her to resign. This is what she was reported to have said and I agree with her!
In the meantime, some hawks (the powerful members of President Yar’Adua’s kitchen cabinet) have begun piling pressure on Professor Akunyili to resign but the minister is said to be unyielding insisting that the position she took is in the best interest of the country. A source said she believes that it would be better to continue the struggle from within rather than quit the stage.
“Although, the Honourable Minister has come under intense pressure from powerful bootlickers to throw in the towel on account of her principled position, but she is resisting all the moves to intimidate or cajole her because she has her mind set on the wider interest of the country and her 150 million citizen rather than the interest of a few privileged elite. It is her firm belief that the country belongs to all Nigerians and that the future of the country and the younger generation is at risk because of the continuing uncertainty regarding the presidency. So, she is fighting on despite all the intrigues, blackmail and threats believing that posterity will vindicate her,” a source, who was present at the Cabinet Secretariat where Akunyili retabled her memo told Daily Sun yesterday. He quoted Akunyili as being sickened by the charade and hypocrisy by many of her colleagues in FEC.

Yar'Adua: Akunyili breaks ranks with cabinet • Tells President to hand over to Jonathan
By Ikechukwu Amaechi, Editor, Daily Independent

INFORMATION and Communications Minister, Dora Akunyili, on Wednesday took a rare step by a Minister by breaking ranks with her colleagues to demand that President Umaru Yar’Adua hands over to Vice President Goodluck Jonathan.

Tempers boiled over at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in Abuja as the united front which the cabinet hitherto presented on the non-compliance with Section 145 of the Constitution by Yar’Adua splintered.

A source said Akunyili has not resigned, but is thoroughly fed up with “the charade” and is “prepared for the worst.”

She has “cleared her conscience,” whatever happens, recounted the source, an aide who did not want to be named.

On January 27, the federal Attorney General and Justice Minister, Michael Aondoakaa, told Nigerians after a FEC meeting that the cabinet unanimously agreed that Yar’Adua is fit to continue in office, even with his poor health.

But Akunyili disagreed on Wednesday, to the chagrin of most other FEC members. She bared her mind in a memo which was neither accepted nor debated, but which, nevertheless, caused much uproar in the cabinet chambers.

Another source at the meeting said Akunyili – in the memo which was later withdrawn – asked her fellow Ministers to listen to Nigerians and respect the Constitution.

“We were all surprised at the memo. We did not anticipate it. But it was very frank,” the source narrated.

Akunyili was said to have pledged her loyalty to Yar’Adua and his government, but insisted that it is morally wrong for him to refuse handing over power to Jonathan 72 days after he took ill and was hospitalised in Saudi Arabia.

She reportedly thanked Yar’Adua for giving her and her colleagues the opportunity to serve the country, stressing that “Yar’Adua is very dear to me and indeed to all of us.”

She noted, however, the debate that has trailed his inability to comply with Section 145 of the Constitution and the sharp division of opinion nationwide.

It is more honourable to lose to a rival that to lose to a minor.

If US crushes Britain in a warfare, no one will bat an eyelid but if Benin republic overpowers Nigeria, then it is a disgrace.

I would rather get trashed 3-1 by man U at least I will blame it to their money power. What will I blame it against Fulham when I lose 3-0? Alcohol?
