Atiku has a good chance of winning next election because all southern region are now clamouring for restructuring which atiku supported, even the middle belt will not vote for buhari because of fulani herdsmen,so it is now four region against two.

It is not that jamb is slow, frm what i gather from a reliable source, jamb is having issue with ui concerning quotas, jamb is not comfortable with ui admitting just 50% of their quotas,so if u met the cut off point,be rest assured ur admission is guaranteed jamb is only trying to expand ur dept quota hence the delay

I think one have to first understand the real function of caps, caps was created as a clearing house for admission and to stop admission racketering and multiple admission, all schools must subscribe to caps and follow fg policy of merit, locality, elds for even balance, infact male and female ratio feature this yr.ui vc has already said the modality to be used ,45%merit,30%locality and i assume 25%elds .so i believe if u met the cut off and ur subject comb tally,u are good to go ui will their best brain are not shortchange and if u are very close, locality will work for u since u will be graded on score.caps is automated,so just keep checking back till ur status change.shalom

Admission in progress simply means u have been recommended for admission, the jamb admission officer is only working on it to ensure compliance using quotas,locality,elds,male/female ratio,o level, merit as benchmark.u dont need to worry.

Thanks ajeet001,i know ui is always competitive but despite it,those courses mention earlier has always maintain 50 even last yr.i encourage my sibling to pick french knowing she could easily scale through she desire law,she later has 61.625,my joy knew no bound until the merit cut off of 62,i thought she could switched to either german or russian, afteral i want her to be a diplomat, then no german on coc.i couldnt bear the pain in her eye.the other choose economics and got 58 i have advice him to write another exam or find an affordable private uni for him during jamb open market.so i know u now feel my pain and i believe ur info is still in the rhealm of speculation, pls join me in prayer i still want to keep her hope alive, thank u and lord help.

Ajet001,thanks for the info, though i still have my reservation concerning those ones who i believe will definitely have spaces yet are not on coc,i just pray my siblings are not unjustly treated.if ui didnt convince me enough i will surely tip the media to poke around a little atleast to ruffle some feather, someone must feel my pain.though i have always believe in ui transparency unlike the jamb twitter handler who has been elusive.i hope we have more parent and guardian on this forum we need to ask some question when the time come,a senior colleague in troyka holding in lagos started the unilag protest.

I just learnt now that even adult education is 53 and it is advertized for coc,so my deduction is this, those with less than 53 in adult education must have a list before coc applicant.same thing applied to courses like russia, german, arabic language who has never had 20 applicant in jamb statistic and i know from a reliable source those dept take 30 every year.so are we to assume the less than 20 all score above those merit cutoff and even so what abt the remaining quotas since they dont advertize for coc.

Thank u dr bobola07,though i pray u shoudnt be right lol,i believe ui released one list because almost all couses have 50 as cut off point, except of course the competitive ones,so passing the screening automatically qualified them for admission unlike this yr with all this cut throat cut off point.one of them is just a point from french,a course of 50 last year now 62.or what do u think,a friend i call said it is likely but he is a small fry.
Education / Re: University Of Ibadan(UI) 2017/2018 Admission Thread by agb30: 2:29pm On Nov 10, 2017
If ui is ur dream school, then i advice, dont do coc,cos if ui gave u another course u dont really desire,u are foreclosing ur chances of ui admission later,ui dont matriculate twice.and i still believe ui would released 2nd batch list.and pls if u have any credible info ,divulge it my siblings are having sleepness night despite all my assurances and post, maybe they will believe it coming from the bosses here, this coc of a thing seems to agitate them a lot.

Catchment and locality means the same thing that is, state that falls within the geopolitical zone, since oyo is in the southwest this incude oyo, osun, ekiti, ondo, ogun and lagos.but ui dont use it.
Education / Re: University Of Ibadan(UI) 2017/2018 Admission Thread by agb30: 9:18am On Nov 10, 2017
Smartography,i bet u are agitated due to ur experience last year,i believe u have a good chance this yr .ui vc has already gave an insight into the modality for admission this yr 45% for merit,35% for locality and 20% for elds.since ui doesnt have catch area,i assume locality will be based on aggregate score, the closer u are the better ur chances.

I have this advice for those who are always victims of high cut of point in highly competive course, are u a serial victim of ur vision or pride.abt 13 yrs ago i was offer german language instead of law in oau,i decline the admission seeing it as insult,my friend accept it,i thought he was a joker, now he is a trade consultant in davos,a german speaking area of switzerland,he has properties worth tens of million and he has led high powered business delegate to nigeria, all courtesy of his language skills,i know of lawyers earning 30k per month and they are qualified .so if u are a victim of pride or u dont know of better career options.pls take time to do research so u wont be another casualty next yrs.85% of those around 4500 who will lose admission this yr are from highly competive course and they score very high point,it is a pity ui will drop them, because the vc has already said they wont admit more than 3500 though nuc gave them 7000 quota to enable them expand space for post graduate student .but if u are aspiring for those course for lofty ideas, then pls persevere and u shall surely make it and be a blessing to this generation.love u all

Education / Re: University Of Ibadan(UI) 2017/2018 Admission Thread by agb30: 10:43am On Nov 08, 2017
I believe this year admission will be quite different,in 2015 and 2016,85% of all courses have 50 has their cut off point except competitive ones like medical, law, economics and engineering.so 85% make the merit list while those in competive course who fail to meet up compete for a few slots in dept who cannot fill up their quotas,so based on this assumption, coc may likely not feature this year since almost all faculties raised the bar above 50,imagine russia and classics who traditionally never exceed 50,now 55 and 60 respectively.so i will assume ui will release admission in 3 batches, merit list for those who beat the cut off point, locality for those who are very close since ui doesnt have catchment, they will be graded on scores and supplementary for those who had high scores but didnt meet up with their preferred course,so an english aspirant could be move to german without coc, afteral it is still within the same faculty and there subject combination tally, because i know most dean do not like the idea of using their dept as dumping ground frm other faculty.so if u are close dont panic and if u are far dont lose up,there are definitely spaces even in all those high cut off, they are only locking their gate from outsider.wish u best of luck.

Ui tradiationally dont advertize for courses above 50,and i notice most faculty had point above 50 so most coc will be in agric or edu, just like unilag dis yr but if you have good grade dont be surprised if u saw ur name among any of the various courses in ur faculty that have very low point.

If u are in art and u are a big adult,i believe ntaliban has offer u good insight into ui dlc,u can be working and schooling at the same time,we should stop underating distance cos it has it advantage.chief afe baba did not attend any conventional uni,yet he is one of the best lawyer around,he attend london uni dlc for law.and ntaliban i believe smartography is just whining u,he is a good guy.and pls stay around to offer more insight,i noticed u are the only victorian who is still around to offer guide to trouble soul,be bless.

For those far from cut off point,u can keep ur option open by waiting for jamb open market system available on caps by mid december for admission .consideration from uni that can not fill up their own quota, pls think very well b4 accepting or rejecting any offer cos some of this school may not be affordable.so cheer up it is not over until it is over.

Every year admission is different, last year ui decided not to fill up their quotas and that is why many student are dissapointed but it has now become a running battle with jamb new helmsman oloyede who insist on total utilizalition of alloted space,ui has decided to increase the space to 3500 from 2900 last year though given 7000 by nuc,so i insist keep the hope burning cos coc too is risky, last year u most score above 65 for science and 55 for art and social science to qualify for coc for a course of 50.so imagine a failed law aspirant of 68 competing with a failed historian with 56 for history edu.

Last year coc was advertize for courses with 50 cut off but this yr will be different since most courses are above 50,the only saving grace is jamb cap system which ensure candidate score are rank from the highest to the lowest and it is automated so if u close to cut off point, dont panic u have a chance till ur dept quota is exhausted.
Education / Re: University Of Ibadan(UI) 2017/2018 Admission Thread by agb30: 8:29pm On Nov 03, 2017
If ur point is very close to the cut off point then dont panic,u can still be admitted in subsequent batches, and better still collect coc if it eventually came out

I dont we should overstress ourselves, this yr admission process is guarantee for everyone with complete o level result and above 200 cos jamb newly introduced central adm prog (caps)will ensure u are not shortchange exp if u are above elds and if u are still denied,u will be available in the dec open market though i believe most offer will come from private uni
