Hello guys, I have been a silent reader in the travel section not only on this thread. You guys are doing a great job here kudos! kiss
I got an invite for my cousin's wedding in May and I booked an appointment in June for today.I was at the US embassy in Lagos for my interview and am so grateful to God and you guys that I was granted the VISA.
I did not use an agent, have never traveled out of Nigeria before,my take home salary is just 100k and am single.
From my experience today, I think all you need at the US embassy is your confidence, the VO did not asked me for any document not even the wedding invitation.

My interview was for 8am thou I got there 5 mins after cos of the traffic.

Here is my transcript:

Me: With my charming smile wink I said Hello, good morning
VO: Good morning, please let me have your passport
Me: I gave it to him with my data page
VO: where are you going in the Us?
Me: .......in Georgia for my Cousin's wedding
VO: types on his system
VO: Please your finger prints
Me: I did that
VO: You are going for whose wedding?
Me: My cousin's
VO: Have you ever traveled out of the country?
Me: with a smile I said "No, its gonna be my first time"
VO: Where do you work?
Me: I work as ....... in ......company
note I earn 100k which I stated in my form but I didnt mention that to him, am sure he must have seen it on his system cos he kept on typing and looking at his system
VO: How long have you been working with this firm?
Me: one and half yrs
VO: How many weeks are you staying in the US
Me: 3 weeks
VO: Are you married?
Me: with a smile I told him am single but engaged (I had an engagement ring on my fourth finger) wink
VO: kept on typing and then said I have approved your visa, please pick up your passport on Monday.

I am so happy, thank you all. kiss
congrats. Please is ur cousin a US citizen or marrying one. 2. How many years did they give u eventhough u intend spending 3weeks. 3. If u spend more than the 3weeks, would it affect ur chance of obtaining Visa again. Thanks

You need to be able to raise 1.5M or get a sponsor to
deposit 1.5M in ur account.
Test of english will cost btw 35K - 40K
You can write one out of TOEFL, IELTS and PTE
Academic
Notarization of certificates will cost between 50 naira
to 200 naira per page.
transcript cost varies per school
You also need to get an international passport if you
don't have one already.
You need to send ur transcript and application package
to the school..... i used DHL and it costs 13,400. So
multiply that by the number of application you will like
to send.
...So u need around 65K for pre admission cost for one
program.
....After admission you will need the following
32K for insurance
67K to 72K for residence permit fees
9K to send ur docs to the finish embassy... i used DHL
other expenses....5K ( bank statement, scanning n
printing cost)
....So u should b looking at around 110k for post
admission cost.
In total budget around 170K for one program excluding
cost of obtaining transcripts from ur University and
sending to d school of ur choice.
Please ensure u have a way of getting 1.5M in your
account with d required support documentation.
Dis might be helpful culled from olabode89 post
thank you very much Ma

why would ever think of changing your nationality? You have to be very careful about documentation. Nigerians whom are resident of countries where entrance exam are taking place are invited to attend the exam unlike home based Nigerians. They differentiate using the student address. So some 9ja go just borrow person address for these countries com use am apply. All courses requires entrance exam.
thanks bro. So, with WAEC, TOEFL & THE ENTRANCE EXAM, i am good to go right?

I have lived in Helsinki for years which is more expensive than Tampere. There are a lot of bars you can buy the normal beer for 4-6€. You don't have to buy from the most expensive one. I have been to Tampere several times and have not paid more than 6€ for a drink. That Irish pub sale only drought stout which most 9jas dont even likes. Also for groceries, you will get things cheaper at
Lidl, S-market and prisma stores. Avoid Alepa (also Sale in Tampere ,not sure ), k market stores . I believe (from years of experience ) that 9ja guy can survive with a lot less than that amount. You don't need to drink in a pub if you don't have job yet, you can buy your beer from the stores much cheaper 0.99-1.20€ per 33cl can.
bro, thanks so much. Please accept my pm on your mail. Please concerning the undergraduate exam sir, what is the subject combination for someone like me that whants to study Medical related course. How easy is the exam. Thanks

Oga boss abeg no ever compare naija education with Finland..... I dey beg u abeg.... I attended one of the best university in Nigeria and i have only been in Finland for over a week and the difference is clear.

Some questions have been overflogged here. If you do a good research via google u might be directed to the page on this thread.

Before you ask a question read the thread properly abeg.... take out 5 hours in a weekend an read through the thread.

I dey kinda busy i would have done an analysis to prove ur assumption above to be very wrong relating to cost.

What stage are u in with respect to your plans on studying in Finland?
boss, im not comparing the 2 ooo. Ofcourse for me to hav decided to cross over to Finland. I am a 500level Medical student in OAU but i dont mind starting afresh in Finland if i get admission today. I am just fed up with Nigeria. I intend to do Physioterapy over there so i just want to start the processing. I checked google. A link said all i need is TOEFL while another one said SAT (BIOLOGY). So i am just confused.

Lol.....U dnt need that much....that estimate is a figure based on average lifestyles from sampled perspectives. As naija boy u know wet in dey....I'll give u an example....my accommodation is 219 Euro per month...in a furnished apartment. I'm to share a flat with someone so na my room I go dey...I dnt eat out and I dnt eat much (I no wan fat again)so I'll probably spend 100 Euro per month on food ..could be more could be less...then let's say another 50 Euro on personal entertainment...a small jab could aid u half this figure per month...if u r lucky....
The truth is naija boys dey there wey no get anyone wey dey send them money and they r doing amazingly well...got a few friends there...so my brother tight Ur trouser...and fulfil Ur academic dream...

Please do i truely need up to 600 - 800 euro monthly for survival? My lifestyle: i dont drink, smoke, womanize nor eat much but i gamble(of which i can stop when i get there)
TravelRe: Studying In Finland (free Tuition) by agbajesaid(m): 6:29am On Aug 22, 2015
So for me, Google is nothing compared to firsthand direct info. I typed all these because i have some question to ask and i will like you to help me with it. You dont have to give me detailed explanation, just the cogent points. Thanks
TravelRe: Studying In Finland (free Tuition) by agbajesaid(m): 6:24am On Aug 22, 2015
Please, anytime we ask questions here concerning Finland, always try to help with an answer, thats why the thread was created. Most times when you direct us to Google to check for the info, its always too cumbersome but for people that are already there, you can just give us the basic things needed. Eg. I saw it on google that i will need between 600 - 800 Euro for sustainance over there per month. When i calculated the amount for a whole year, i couldnt but wonder why they now call it tuition free. The money is enough for both tuition, feeding and accomodation in a good private School in Nigeria. But for those of you that are already there, you would hav known by now if one would truely need up to that amount or not.

HealthTeentech Kids Discovers Condom That Changes Colour When Exposed To STD by agbajesaid(op): 11:57pm On Jun 25, 2015
A condom that changes colour when it comes into contact
with sexually transmitted infections has been invented by a
group of school children.
The ‘S.T.EYE’ has a built-in indicator to detect infections
such as Chlamydia, herpes and syphilis, turning a different
colour depending on the strain of bacteria present.
The discovery is the brainchild Daanyaal Ali, 14, Muaz
Nawaz, 13 and Chirag Shah, 14, who are pupils at Isaac
Newton Academy in Ilford, Essex. The kids wanted to “make
detecting harmful STIs safer than ever before” without the
need for invasive tests.
The condom would glow green for chlamydia, yellow for
herpes, purple in the presence of the human
papillomavirus which causes genital warts, and blue for
syphilis.
For their ingenuity, the kids have been recognized with the
TeenTech award for the best health innovation. They would
get £1,000 and a trip to Buckingham Palace from the
TeenTech awards, aimed at up-and-coming inventors.
