IamAnderson: he's already grown so it'll be harder to do but I feel if you introduce him to people that are nice and relaxed he'll calm down. Roscoe also barks and tries to attack people when I try to introduce them to him inside the compound but when he sees everyone is calm around the person and the person too is calm he'll eventually stop barking and start growling then I ask the person to give him a hand to sniff slowly, after he sniffs the person's hand he sniffs the person for some minutes then leaves them alone. if you want to introduce your dog to someone don't rush it,just be calm and the person too should be relaxed and quiet it'll go down easier. after the dog has seen the person is no longer a threat it'll calm down and get curious about the person. but even after the introduction, it not wise to leave the person alone with the dog until you're sure the dog is okay with the person. the last person that stayed with us few months ago for about a month got introduced to Roscoe and he got used to her and we started freeing him in her presence eventually but he still attacked her about 2-3 times when she went to open the gate by herself, she had to run out the gate to escape and she was also lucky I was there those times to stop him.
also it'd help if you didn't force the introduction the first day they meet, I usually do mine few days after the person arrives so by that time he'd have gotten tired of barking at the person and instead he'll be more curious to know who the person is. then if you want to introduce them on neutral ground (a place that isn't your dog's territory) just let them be calm and also wait for jack to calm down then ask him to sit before you let him sniff the person. tip: go at the dog's pace, let the dog lean forward to sniff first because if the person moves too suddenly that sniff can turn to a bite Trust me, I have tried everything. I even encouraged my cousin to give him treats. He would eat it all happily (wagging his tail sef). Just give him 30mins and he'll be back to hating. |

amehrada: Coco turns 3 months old tomorrow, those things(fish, egg and plain rice) I said she does not like she loves them now. I started feeding her pedigree puppy canned food(growth and protection) this week and I intend getting diamond puppy dry food to be mixing it, then adding chicken heads occasionally.
She's doing good on her obedience training but gets distracted easily probably because she's still a puppy. Her socialisation has been going well, since she's still too young to go out for walks what I do is take her outside our compound every morning around 6:30, we stay and roam about there. She gets to see people, okada, cars, turkey, goat and other dogs passing. At the beginning, she was scared of the turkey o, immediately she sees the turkey she backs up but all the ones she go wan follow.
Coco dey constitute sha, picks and chews almost anything from the ground, she's still mouths a lot and once she's somewhere you don't want her to be, you call her in order to get her to leave that place then she looks at you and go back to what she was doing, immediately she sees you coming towards her she go just take off.
My biggest problem is that I still don't know how much to feed her, she eats 3× a day. What I do is one pedigree can food per day mixed with a little plain rice(per meal) and 5 chicken heads(per meal) sometimes I add fried fish or boiled meat or proper chicken to it. Whether I dey underfeed or overfeed I nor know.
Coco hates taking her bath! And oh she chews on her leash a lot, I don watch youtube vids to correct this behaviour, no level. I don't know if prong collar will be able to correct it. I hope dis chicken head u give her is not cooked. |

amehrada: So my elder bro got a puppy(7weeks) from his workplace as a gift from one of his colleague and we can't figure out the breed... I think it's a mixed boerboel.
Any idea on the breed?
Taking Coco for her first shot of distemper tomorrow.
She's currently on booster can food(chicken, turkey and carrot flavor) for all life stages and zito puppy milk + zito puppy cereal. I give her chicken franks as treat sometimes.
She's not too into fish, indomie, egg or rice that much... I think I'll try mixing the can food with rice and see if she likes it.
I'm struggling on knowing how much to feed her, I give half the can food per meal and she finishes it all and wants more.
Is it safe to start bathing her now?
Any other ideas are welcomed. Thanks In my own opinion, it looks like a gsd×caucasian |

IamAnderson: when you try to introduce jack to people how does he react? He would just start barking and try to bite them. He is not socialized at all. I have a relative that came to stay with me for a month. Jack hated him and only started tolerating him after two weeks of his coming. But still hated him till d day he left. He sees humans, goat and especially chicken as enemies DAT need to be eliminated....lol. Its my fault tho. I didn't properly involve him with people while growing. Any suggestions on how to introduce him to new people? |

IamAnderson: Sorry I couldn't post when I promised, I got banned from NL for some reason and since then I haven't had the chance to post.
I've been keeping Roscoe indoors because of an incident that happened last Friday when I took him to the vet for his vaccine shots. while we were coming back, he suddenly attacked one boy on the road, I was also surprised it happened because he's usually calm even in crowds. he charged at the boy even with me holding his leash and even started chasing the boy as the boy ran away, it took some seconds before I recognized the boy he was trying to attack. turns out it was the same boy that has been teasing him since he was about 4 months old, the boy always threw stones at him when I take him on walks and sometimes he'll come and touch him and run(although he stopped doing that as he grew up), he also used to come to my gate and tease him so he'll bark at him and even on some occasions he came to my house to fetch water he used to go to his kennel to taunt him while he's barking at him. I was surprised he could pick out the boy from other people walking on the road even before I noticed him, as he started trying to attack him people started shouting and running away, luckily I was walking him with somebody so the two of us had to hold him back as he was struggling to leave his leash. if something had happened, if I wasn't able to realise he wanted to attack the boy on time it might have ended as one of those stories you read online that a dog mauled a child and they had to kill the dog, people wouldn't even give me the chance to explain that I knew the boy and it was his fault(I warned him severally to stop teasing him but he saw it as play and continued, he only reduced it when Roscoe grew up and he started fearing him, even at that till now if Roscoe is in his kennel or is restrained he'll be taunting him). to make things worse, some other kids were coming back from school where this thing happened and because of the frenzy he was already in(everyone was shouting and running) he started trying to attack them too. I had to take him away from the road to a corner to calm down for some minutes before I took him home, this happened about a week ago and I didn't bring him outside again until this morning so the case will die down, I don't want any issue that has to do with my dog harming a child, at least this issue has opened their eyes, now when the children see him coming they run away without my warning unlike before that they'll be following us and be trying to get his attention no matter how may times I tell them to keep off. but he's not a child killer though, some minutes after the incident I passed one of my neighbors, house were her child was playing outside and he wanted to touch Roscoe and his mum let me introduce him to the kid and he sniffed and licked him thankfully, his reckless behavior was just because of grudge and not sinister intentions.
here are some pics I was able to take, as usual he was too distracted to even pay attention to the camera for 2mins your dog's coat is just to awesome. Pls snap the type of comb u use and the type of supplement u use for the coat. I am falling in love with Roscoe more and more. His temperament is awesome to. How I wish jack can be introduced to new people. Are u planning on breeding him Nice work bro. Ur dog is a 100%. |

Kelvin30286063: The QUESTION now is, what are the genetic implications this might have on her? I mean the mother not the puppy. I have already placed her on 5 days antibiotics treatment for whatever she might have gotten from "premarital sex". Is there anything else I need to do? I must mention that my vet is not exactly a reasonable person. He studied animal science in school then concluded he's a vet doctor. He was partially responsible for the death of the male some months ago. I'm only sticking with him cuz he's the only person that is close by. The next vet hospital is 1 hour away from where I live. This ur post is just to funny. I can't stop laughing. My ribs oo!!!! Five days antibiotics.. lol. This is so hilarious. I like ur dog. E no send. The pup is looking to cute already sef. |

newsynews: Is it regular vitamic c or the one for dogs? Its better to get from ur vet shop than to give the ordinary vitamin C humans take. |
Pets › Re: Reality Online Show For My Boerboel Jessy by agboedeh: 8:41am On Nov 06, 2019 |
newsynews: Jessy is already learning a few commands. It took time before she learnt how to sit. Shaking came naturally. She has also learned to heel when I'm walking her. Whenever she starts pulling the leash, I say the word 'heel'. She immediately stops or slows down for me to catch up, then she walks beside me. Few minutes later, she goes back to her leash pulling antics, making me repeat the command.
I began training her when I noticed she was becoming cunning. This made me know she had developed sense. lol..she sounds smart. Try giving her 250mg of vitamin C once in a day. It helps to boost her immune system I.e to prevent bacteria infections and viral infections like parvo. |

Pets › Re: Murphy the Boerboel and Gustaf the German shepherd by agboedeh: 8:41pm On Nov 03, 2019 |
vincentjk: Yea augusto is growing well but it all depends on feeding and genes, sure he's got good genes tho
Since you seem to like Gustaf a lot, You've reminded me to post a throwback picture of him, he was actually 5-6months old when i took this picture
It isn't very clear but he looked good here right? He has really grown taller and bigger these past few weeks but the only problem is his bones, they ain't that cool but you'll all be surprise if i take my time to snap gustaf really cool pictures The picture make sense. If u can make out time maybe on weekends to snap him,it would be cool. I don't understand wat u are saying oo. Gustaf bone structure is better than most gsds I see around,he looks like a DDR not pure tho, and his coat colour is awesome. If not that u have made up ur mind on giving him out, I could have adviced u to keep him and mate him with an outstanding bitch to get a better version of gustaf. U would be surprised to the amt of people that would rush him for stud. |

Pets › Re: Murphy the Boerboel and Gustaf the German shepherd by agboedeh: 4:25pm On Nov 03, 2019 |
vincentjk: So I rushed to the kitchen to make Augusto something asap, as usually I made a cool recipe for him. These are;
Sliced pork meat Nutribyte kibbles Rice (filler) Sliced carrot A little sliced guava An uncooked egg Pork broth Frozen egusi soup.
Served him this food at 11am so i neither call it breakfast nor lunch. I served him brunch This combination is to much oo. Avoid raw eggs except if its organic. Most of our local hen lay organic eggs since they weren't given any drug from birth. |
