Governor Mohammed Abubakar said the Bauchi said his administration was planning to hand over Lame Bura Forest to the Air force to establish an air range for its fighter aircraft pilots.

Politics / 41 Persons Convicted For Human Trafficking Offences – NAPTIP by agwom(m): 2:53pm On Jul 30, 2018
The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) said no fewer than 41 persons have been convicted for various forms of human trafficking across the country in the last one year.
The Director-General of the agency, Dr Julie Okah-Donli, disclosed this while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) after a road walk to sensitise people against human trafficking in Abuja on Monday.
Okah-Donli explained that 359 people had so far been convicted for different offences of human trafficking since 15 years of establishment of NAPTIP.
She said that agency was now more committed and determined than ever to prosecute anyone involved in human trafficking no matter how highly placed in the society.
She stated that NAPTIP had now focused attention on those using under-aged children as house helps, pointing out that anyone caught in the act would face the wrath of law.
According to her, there is need for the general public to give the agency relevant information that will lead to arrest of suspects of child trafficking.
The NAPTIP boss said that since she assumed duty as head of the agency, she had been doing more on awareness creation to sensitise people on the danger of human trafficking.
She emphasised the need to take the sensitisation campaign beyond cities to rural areas where most human trafficking activities take place.
Okah-Donli enjoined international organisations, NGOs and other relevant stakeholders to continue to support NAPTIP to win the war against human trafficking.

Dasuki’s family petitions NBA against Malami
The family of former National Security Adviser (NSA) Sambo Dasuki has petitioned the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) over comments by the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Malam Abubakar Malami (SAN).
The family are accusing the AGF of professional misconduct and promoting disobedience to the lawful order of court by the Federal Government.
The petition dated July 23, 2018 was signed by Dasuki’s wife, Hajia Bintu Sambo Dasuki; his son, Abubakar Atiku Dasuki and his nephew, Senator Umar Dahiru.
The family requested NBA to probe Malami for allegedly making “an unprofessional statement to denigrate the court, violate the Constitution and encourage the continued breach of the fundamental human rights of Dasuki, who has been clamped into detention since December 29, 2015.”
Malami was on July 19 quoted to have told the BBC that based on public interest, and the death of 100, 000 persons in the Boko Haram insurgency, the Federal Government will not release Dasuki as ordered by courts, the latest by an Abuja Federal High Court on July 2.
The Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to the AGF, Salihu Othman Isah said NBA should be allowed to look into the petition, adding that he was sure the AGF would be given fair hearing.

Politics / PDP Will Win 10 Northern States In 2019 – Sen. Danbaba by agwom(m): 10:00pm On Jul 29, 2018
The Senator representing Sokoto South Senatorial District, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi Danbaba said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will win 10 northern states in the forthcoming general elections.
Danbaba is among the lawmakers that recently decamped to PDP at the National Assembly.
Speaking to some selected journalists in Sokoto on Sunday, he said he did not regret dumping the party that made him Senator because they were not being carried along in the scheme of things.
He further explained that he left the party because of lack of equity, justice and fairness to all members.
"The APC-led federal government has derailed from its mandate and failed to meet the yearnings of Nigerians," he added.
Danbaba who is the vice chairman of the House Committee on Army, lamented that the APC has failed to address the three core issues of security, economy and corruption for which it was voted into power in 2015.
"I am the Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army and I know how much that has been expended on security in the country. We are facing security challenges in Zamfara, Kaduna, Sokoto and many states and people are being killed,"he said
He added: "No strategy has been adopted to tackle security. Villagers in Zamfara are now running to local government headquarters. So, the situation is getting worse in the country. "
He noted that Buhari was being misled by people that surrounded him for their personal benefits.
He was confident PDP would take over Benue, Kaduna, Kano, Plateau, Kogi, Kwara, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa and Sokoto states in 2019.
He said that the balance of power was now tilted in favour of the PDP.
He accused the APC government of fighting perceived enemies in the name of fighting corruption, citing the travails of the Senate President.

Politics / Ganduje Employs 50,000 Youths In 3 Years by agwom(m): 5:15pm On Jul 29, 2018
Kano state government has provided direct jobs and skills development opportunities to 50, 000 Kano youth in the past three years, the state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has said.
Governor Ganduje also said his administration had initiated the Matasa Madogara programme with a view to making youths in the state more useful to the society.
The governor made the assertion during the closing of the first Kano Youth Summit held in the state capital with the theme “Youth inclusiveness as a driver for sustainable growth and development”.
Ganduje pointed out that his administration had earmarked N258m for the construction of community skills and development centers at Kano Municipal and Dawakin Tofa local governments, while MAFITA, a DFID programme had provided the equipment and master craft persons for the centers, envisaged to start with 360 apprentices.
“The state government in collaboration with Mafita, a DFID programme, has provided skills acquisition training of over 5, 000 apprentices in different trades under the supervision of 655 master craft persons. Similarly, phase II of the programme will recruit 3, 000 apprentices under the supervision of 900 master craft persons”, he said.
He added that his administration was giving priority attention to youth inclusiveness in decision making, in line with the guiding principles of the Universal Declaration for human rights.
“I implore our youths to join hands, accept the changes and shun all forms of vices such as use of illicit drugs, violence as well as other criminal acts so as to be self employed, responsible citizens and further leaders”, the governor charged.
On the summit, Dr. Ganduje describe it as timely as it was aimed at creating a relevant platform for generating fresh perspectives and innovative ideas from the youth with a view to integrating them in the state’s development efforts.
He therefore, charged the organizers to produce a report that would provide thematic insights on youth economic opinion so as to offer a robust and varied perspective for Kano state.
