Imagine how Hyun Bin felt about his own drama getting so much criticism especially with his female lead. I don't want that for my baby boo.

My guess is because E. Ki was mainly set in Yuan. Comparing Yuan to Joseon, there's a difference in the dressing style; like Joseon Kings always wear that big red robe with a black cap (No Joseon King has ever looked better than Kim Soo Hyun), the Yuan Emperor wears different colours of fitted robes.
The Joseon Queens/ Dowagers wear hanbok skirt and blouse with their hairs packed and kept in place with long hairpins, Yuan Empresses/ Dowagers wear finer gowns with somewhat real crowns, and jewelry pieces like long gold earrings and neck pieces- which is absent in Joseon queens. Etc, etc.
As for Tal x2, he looks good in anything he wears, especially with that hair. I guess the difference is Yuan/ Joseon setting, I could be wrong though.

Ok thanks I haven't had time to learn much about the period fashions, I know different eras had special kinds of dressing for royals and even nobles.

I'm just saying the costume designer was really awesome. I've seen recent sagueks such as Shine or Go Crazy and the whole set up isn't as professional trust me. The whole Empress Ki setting was marvelous and colorful.

NEW DRAMA ALERT!!!!!


This drama looks promising and comes from my second ever crush back then Kim Bum was heartbreaking in Jung Yi Goddess of Fire. I've only seen him in there and maybe in a few episodes of BOF. I'm looking forward to this new drama of his coming in June. I think it's his first lead role...now this is how you give someone a lead role, starting small. Not giving them a vampire-themed drama that calls for serious acting skills from both male and female leads respectively

While I'm happy for LYB in her leading role -everyone deserves a chance-, I'm a bit worried for her. She might get criticized a lot for any mistake, I mean, some peeps are saying LJK deserves a seasoned leading lady and all. I wish her the very best though.

Some trivia on the show is raising my hopes the more. The director of EMPRESS KI & MOON EMBRACING THE SUN is directing this one!!!! That's a confidence booster if there ever was one.

Besides I can't help but support my bae LJG no matter what so hell yeah I'll be following this drama.

Aaaand I googled myself lmao No seriously I googled night strolling scholar lee joon gi....and my blog came up 5th/sixth on the first page!!! Boo-yahhh!!! All that hard work is paying off. No but that particular post has a lot of views, thanks to the interest from Soompi where I posted a link. Other popular posts are on Jang Hyuk - that guy has mad fans though.


Soooo looking forward to some gorgeous costumes, makeup and feels feels feels!! Do you know, to me the best ever costume design in period drama was from Empress KI? No other drama has been able to beat it in my opinion. Be it Emperor Toghon/Tahwan's golden and lush robes, Empress Ki's banging dresses, Emperess Dowager's gowns, Tal Tal's silvery armour, even King Koryo's funny looking Koryo robes were all so freaking awesome. I look forward to such delightfulness in Night Strolling Scholar.

But there was so much drama attached to the drama sha. They couldn't get a definite leading man till LJK took up the role. The leading female role too has issues, and the one that finally got it, well....

SIGH====you're right about not giving up. AS IF. You know I got much love for LJG. So I looked up more photos of Lee Yoo Bi. I'm beginning to imagine her in the role of a cross-dressing noble woman. I will have to completely erase my image of her from Pinocchio because she was so girly and dorky there with those puff puff cheeks


Oh yes I meant Park Min Young from Healer. She had a nice face for cross-dressing. I mean we ALL knew she looked like a girl in Sungk Scandal but still, I liked her there.

Ha Ji Won did the cross-dressing thing so well too in Empress KI. At least Lee Yoo Bi will have a lot of other women to inspire her what to do. I just hope she can handle the mega-watt chemistry king that is LEE JOON Ki. Cos oppa's got smexy in DROVES!!!!

The upcoming dramas look promising, and I'm totally anticipating them.
About LYB, never say never. I felt the same way about Ahn Jae-Hyeon in Blood, but he proved me wrong. Besides, LJK always makes every project he is in work!

But this girl is too dorky for him now. I like womanly women for LJK, like the actress in Joseon Gunman named Nam Sang-mi. Some people made all sorts of negative comments about her but for me she was believable next to LJK. But this LYB looks too childish. If you know how downed I am about this you won't try to console me


Yes LJK can make any project work but do you know how much I've been looking forward to this? I actually prefer the second female lead for LJK. ))sigh((

Not a good start at all. I only hope LYB won't pull down the drama for my Joon Gi. He really deserves better. Some actresses make great second or third leads, never the main chick. And to me that's LYB's persona. Should be the bridesmaid never the bride yakk yakk I'm going to be beefing her as badly as people were beefing Gu Hye Sun in Blood


Maybe that will help me feel better about this.

It's script reading galore---so that means there's hope for our upcoming dramas such as Masked Prosecutor (Joo Sang Wook) and Scholar Walks the Night (Lee Joon Gi).

Finally found out who Lee Yoo Bi is WHAAAT. I mean I liked her in Gu Family Book and she was cool in Pinocchio. But as female lead with Lee Jun Ki...I don't know about this. I thought I could take anyone but damn. She doesn't inspire much faith in me. Oh well too bad.

She was his step mother

Her son was the younger emperor boy who died early on. Temur made the younger brother emperor over Tahwan aka our baby emperor. That was why Tahwan said he wouldn't mind making Ayu emperor over Maha like El Temur did to him.

Emperor took Empress dowager as his mom since truly she played mother figure. BUT he told her off in the end saying she only ever sided with him for power.

Tanasiri has El Temur's blood, I didn't expect anything less from her. She was bold and commited her crimes right in Nyang's face, unlike Bayan that smiled all the time like a weakling all the while twisting a knife at Nyang's back.

The part that got my mum mad with Tana was the killing of the pregnant woman. She couldn't get over it.

Bayan was just annoying in my opinion something you call waste of space. Don't care to even remember what happened to her in the end.

Her most memorable crime was when she had Yon hanged before her very eyes. That gave me the shivers though.

All the reasons why you hate him... Are all the reasons why I loved him as Emperor that's the beauty of being a good looking and charismatic actor who can actually ACT. lol. He made me love him despite all his weaknesses. Yes he was selfish at the beginning but he was always loyal. To save his life he had to lie on General Ki Nyang's father. He knew he needed to become Emperor at all cost.

And to me... Nyang chose to ride with Emperor out of duty. He was under her care so she had to follow protocol. If she rode with Koryo King it would have looked very unprofessional of her

Yes Emperor was mean to Maha which was wrong. But it was because Maha 's grandfather did the same to him as a boy. And Emperor could never forget who Maha' s mother and grandfather were. He hated his wife's family too much.

Wow such a weird feeling I'm having when you badmouth JCW 's Emperor role... I start to like it more than ever. So weird.

Tanasiri did well in her role, I have to give her that. Do you remember when the other consorts caught a rabbit during the hunt and went to submit it? Dokman used one kine eye to look at them, 'their Ladyships, one little bunny.'



Who else felt like the new empress was more evil and sly than Tanasiri.

That second Empress was tame compared to Tanasiri WHAAT. I mean HOW can you forget Tanasiri 's crimes??

That guy in Moon Embracing the Sun lol--you got it right. I loved how Kim Soo Hyun would make him face the wall Lmao..

But what I loved more was how Emperor treated Golta. Like that time Emperor saw rats on his bed and his personal bodyguards wanted to use sword to kill them.. And how Nyang just picked up the rat like a boss then Emperor stoned Golta with his pillow hheeeehaaaw I laffed tire

Our best loved villain I can't even imagine him in any other role again. He was so perfect. Yom the Scum for reals.

As for his lady love ugh she was irredeemable. But props to Yom and the way he cried over her body. One and a half tear drops fell from my eye in that scene.

Nyang's costume was lovely, as for Tanasiri, she looked like mother christmas.
JCW is really sweet when it comes to romance, just like in Healer. Such a puppy!

Mother Christmas ===wipes my tears=== omg I thought I was the only one. And that HAT. Gosh. It's like they didn't want her to outshine Ha Ji Won even for a moment so they gave her those whacky costumes and hairdos lol

The scene that hit me d most was kolta betraying him for money at d end. He trusted that monk. *sigh* empress ki.

Yeah so sad Emperor never knew the relationship... I think that's why she could forgive him at last because truly he didn't know. I loved that scene too.

Golta was such a good funny PA not sure what they call their personal eunuchs.. But he was funny always moaning Pae-Haaa

I love Empress Ki to pieces that I renamed it 51 episodes of awesome! I put like 100% emotions in it while watching, cried at the end, and took a brief break from dramas when I was through with it. But still 3 of my saddest
scenes in a Kdrama came from it.

1) When Tal Tal killed his uncle - I was teary eyed.
2) When Emperor confronted his mother and Kolta towards the end before personally killing the bas.ard - I shed a few tears
3) At the end when like @hilda90 said, Nyang finally told the Emperor those three words he'd been dying to hear while cradling his head on her laps... And he eventually died when he heard. - I cried ehn.
In Emperor's voice, no drama has ever moved me the way E. Ki did.

Love those scenes above...

Remember the costumes they wore during the royal hunt. With the beautiful fur lining? I loved how Nyang and emperor looked in those scenes. Especially when he pinned her on her back in his tent... ::Blush:::

Lmao so many memorable scenes for me, can't name them all here. Sometimes I re-watch the very first time they met, and the whole journey of how they became close at first (being his bodyguard, teaching how to use the baby arrow, helping him escape back home, getting him into that smelly salted coffin.. The way he depended solely on her was so so sweet. Lmao there I go again...

JCW is cute, and I have a thing for cute guys crying. It makes me want to enter the drama and hug him after giving him a tissue.
But seriously, the other actor did shine in his own way. I like when the 2nd lead stand their ground in a drama, just like Yoo Ji Tae - Kim Munho- in Healer, he wasn't really overshadowed by Wookie.

Yes that actor was able to hold his own oh I won't lie. Maybe because he never had to be the second lead syndrome guy going after the same girl. That's what saved him. If not he would have gone the same route as Mr Koryo King
