In accordance with Sections 6 (1) (d) and 10 (1) and (2) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (Establishment) Act, 2007, President Muhammadu Buhari, Wednesday, forwarded the list of his nominees to the Senate for confirmation as Non-Executive Directors of the Board of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The letter to the Senate President, Abubakar Bukola Saraki, contained the following as the nominees and their geo-political zones.
1. Professor Ummu Ahmed Jalingo - North East
2. Professor Justitia Odinakachukwu Nnabuko - South East
3. Professor Mike I. Obadan - South South
4. Dr. Abdu Abubakar - North West
5. Adeola Adetunji - South West.

A tip-off by a whistleblower on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 led to another discovery by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, of a staggering sum of N4billion suspected to be proceeds of crime.

Investigations as to the owner of the funds revealed that the money belongs to a former deputy governorship candidate in Niger State.

The suspect uses the names of two companies– Katah Property & Investment Limited and Sadiq Air Travel Agency- in laundering the funds.

Each of the company has N2billion fixed in its deposit account domiciled in Guaranty Trust Bank.

The suspected owner of the account and the account officer are currently on the run.

Nigerian Singer, Davido who allegedly issued a dud cheque to a car dealer, Mr. Anekwu Chika whom he purchased a Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 from has been given a seven-day ultimatum to pay up the sum of N7.4 million to Mr. Anekwu..

This is contained in a letter of demand addressed to Davido by Mr. Anekwu's lawyer, Wahab Shittu.

The documents shared by Sahara Reporters shows that Davido may face legal consequences if he does not meet up the demands.. See below;

The young man who committed suicide at FESTAC link bridge yesterday has been identified as Bayode Ahmad Lawal, a graduate of UNILORIN.

Bayo reportedly struggled with his friends who tried stop him, before he finally jumped inside the river..

The ordeal started from Mobil filling station when Bayo started lying down on the floor. He was with his friends at this time. His friends beckoned on him to stand up trying to find out what was wrong. He stood up and then started walking fast, then started running towards the bridge. His friends tried to stop him, chasing him, before they could get hold of him, he had already jumped into the canal. Before this some individuals said it seemed he had some psychological issues. Since the incident up till this time of writing, his body has not been found. Bayo left behind His mother, a single mother and his other siblings. Some said the psychological issues comes once in a while.

Residents of Maiduguri, Borno state capital are celebrating their first rainfall in 2017 after several months of very hot weather.

According to reports, the rain started around 4:30 pm and lasted for about 30 minutes.

The residents also expressed relief that the "intolerably hot weather" will reduce.

"About a week ago, the weather was intolerably hot in Maiduguri ! Alhamdu lillah as a result, we have recorded first rain today" Adamu Muhammad Sidi Girei posted on facebook.

Adam Umar Langa, another resident said "It's raining: massive rain storms the city of Maiduguri. Making it first rain in 2017 season, may Allah bless us and give a better plants to grow..! and last within 30 minutes Alhamdu Lillah"

PDP STAKEHOLDERS SUMMIT RESOLUTION.

* Meeting held today at the Shehu Yar'adua center Abuja.

* Sheriff walked out on Jonathan.

*Jonathan resolutes on settlement.

Briefing the Press after the meeting, former President Goodluck Jonathan said they have resolved to set up a committee whom in two weeks will come up with strong recommendations for a lasting solution.

The Committee will consist of the following; The former President or his Vice to chair the Committee, 6 BOT Members including the chairman, Six persons per geo-political zone, all Governors, Deputy senate and minority leader to represent Senate, Reps Minority leader to represent Reps, Two former Governors from all Zones, Two women, Two Youths from each Zone.

The committee is expected to come up with strong recommendations, after which larger groups will be called again to implement the recommendation of the committee.

Jonathan said they are determined to solve the problem and make sure the party grows stronger again.

Meanwhile, Ali Modu Sheriff and his supporters had earlier walked out of the meeting after he and Makarfi were both disallowed from addressing the summit.

Omokri said on his twitter page that the message was meant for those calling Mr. Jonathan "clueless"

He wrote;

"In June of 1975, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan sat for his West African School Certificate Examinations and made the following results.

A2 Geography

C5 physics
Mathematics was canceled, so the next year he wrote GCE in November and got A3 in mathematics. So before you call my Jonathan 'clueless', please show me your own champion's School Certificate result.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC Kaduna Zonal office, has arrested one Hussaini Mohammed of Tanko Road Barakallahu Kaduna State following a petition received from the Kaduna State Vigilance Service for alleged case of extortion, currency counterfeiting and impersonation of the Nigerian Police Force.

The accused, Mohammed, is alleged to have on several occasions disguised as a Corporal in the Nigeria Police Force having collected monies in order to secure the release of suspects from the Police. He was caught in the act while trying to extort money from another party.

Following the record of his statements an authorized search warrant was carried out and following items were recovered from him.

2. 4 pieces of suspected fake 100 US dollars
3. 1000 & 2000 Mauritanian currency note
4. 2 Police Warrant card
5. 1 Nigerian Police bullet proof jacket

The relationship between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia is a mutually beneficial one, which should grow stronger in the years to come, President Muhammadu Buhari has said.

Receiving the outgoing Ambassador of the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia, Fahad Bin Abdullah Sefyan, in a farewell audience at State House, Abuja, Thursday, the President observed that the relationship between the countries was strong, adding that apart from visiting Mecca and Medina for religious reasons, a lot of Nigerians are in Saudi Arabian universities.

Noting that the last farming season was quite good, and the Nigerian economy was gradually reviving, President Buhari said the two countries would have more areas to collaborate in future.

"I quite appreciate the relationship between the two countries," the President stressed.

Ambassador Sefyan, who spent 20 months on tour of duty, said he loved it in Nigeria, and would have wanted to stay for longer, if not that he was now due for retirement.

He commended President Buhari's visit to Saudi Arabia in February, last year, urging that there should be reciprocal visits between the leaders of both countries.

On the security situation in Nigeria, the outgoing Ambassador told the President:

"I think you are doing very well, Your Excellency. We know what you have done with Boko Haram, and we applaud you".
