The EFCC, Ibadan office, has arrested an internet fraudster, Afolabi Ojo, who allegedly engages unsuspecting members of the public in a phony online shopping on Instagram and WhatsApp respectively. The suspect, a student of the Polytechnic, Ire, Osun State, was arrested following a petition from a complainant alleging that sometimes in June, 2017, while window shopping on Instagram, she came across some slippers and shoes on a page “Best Classic Store” owned by one purported Kemisola with WhatsApp number 08106802815 displayed on the page. Members of Agbor Gha Ihun,a security group in Agbor, in Ika South Local Government Area,Delta State on Thursday paraded a Libyan returnee, Henry Olomu and a motor mechanic, Daniel Efe for stealing motorcycles in Boji-Boji metropolis. The motorcycle thieves said they are both from Owa-Alizomor Community. Henry, 24, a bricklayer by profession confessed that he is the leader of a three man gang that specialized in snatching of motorcycles in Agbor and environs. Luck ran out of him yesterday, after a woman he snatched her motorcycle a few days ago was able to identify him in the public. Henry said he traveled to Libya last year but was deported a month ago,adding, "l have been into crime even before i travelled to Libya. "Myself, Daniel and Ifeanyi have stolen two motorcycles (Motobi and CG) since I was deported from Libya. We are cultists and we have been stealing for the past five years. "We carry out our operations any time of the day. Our major target area is the Railway Bridge end of Old Lagos/Asaba Road.We keep every motorcycle we thief at Ifeany's house at Umunede before looking for buyers.Ifeanyi was to sell the Motobi motorcycle for #130,000 But I told him to wait until we get someone who will pay #180,000. I am sorry for my evil deeds. I will turn a new leaf if I am pardoned." A member of the three man gang,Daniel Efe,20,a motor mechanic along Abraka road, also confessed that they are motorcycle thieves, saying it was Henry who introduced him into crime. He said he is also a cultist and has been stealing handsets, cash, generators and motorcycles for the past two years. He disclosed that when Henry traveled to Libya he continued to steal and was considering forming a gang of his own before Henry was deported from Libya. He further confessed that he specialized in the stealing of motorcycles, handsets, cash,and house hold items,like generators.He said the quest to travel to Libya made him to start stealing. Peter Okoye (P'square) has reacted the recent call for his arrest made by the APC Youth Renaissance group. The group, in a statement signed by its national secretary, Collins Edwin, described Peter Okoye as a "son of darkness" for ‘insulting the Federal government of Nigeria' over abroad video shooting ban. A woman has claimed that the Semolina she bought at Wadata market in Makurdi, Benue state turned to rubber after she mixed it with hot water. According to a report shared on Facebook, the woman returned the Semo back to the market where she was referred to the manufacturer. The manufacturer, however, claimed the product was original and that she does not know how to make Semo. One commenter (a resident of Makurdi) who confirmed the incident said it happened to his friend last Friday. Consequent, on the intense operations to curtail the kidnapping and other violent crime, on the 19th June, 2017 eight principal suspects were paraded after preliminary investigation revealed that they were responsible for several kidnappings, armed robberies and cattle rustlings on Abuja/Kaduna Highway. All the suspects confessed to the offence and investigation is being concluded into the various crimes against and they will soon be arraigned in court. In furtherance of these operations, the Police Special Forces led by the Intelligence Response Team on the 8th July, 2017 and 9th July, 2017 working on available intelligence swooped on kidnappers dens in Gwagwada, kangimi and katari villages in Kaduna State and arrested all the above mentioned suspects and recovered from their possession the fire arm and ammunition listed above. They volunteered confessional statement admitting to the various criminal roles they played in the kidnapped for ransom of motorists, travellers and others innocent people along Abuja/Kaduna Highway. They will be charged to court on completion of investigation. The principal suspects are Ibrahim Gurgu, 45 years Native of Gwagwada village Kaduna, Abdulazeez Idris, 40 years old native of Kankara LGA Katsina State, Shuaibu Ibrahim aka Kadi 29 years old native of Kangimi village Kaduna State, Ibrahim Isiyaku 30 years old native of Gwagwada village Kaduna State, Usman Datti 30 years old native of Gwagwada village Kaduna, Kabiru Musa 27 years Native of Dandume LGA Katsina State, and Haruna Umar, 24 years old native of Dandume LGA Katsina State. Exhibits recovered from the suspects also include Ak47 Rifle, two locally made pistols, 30 rounds of live Ammunition, one magazine, two military camouflage, three cutlasses and charms.
