HealthRe: Why Do Kidney Transplant Abroad When It Can Done In Nigeria? by ajibsca: 3:19pm On Jul 01, 2013
speedyboi: This is a totally different case. And trust me when I say Doctors/Nurses like this abound everywhere in the world. Btw, I do agree most Nigerians are not dedicated to their jobs (civil servants, Health practitioners, police, Phcn, etc...). But we always fail to realise we are the ones bringing our country down with our own hands due to our attitudes to our various works. We'd rather put the blame on what's 'not there' (Government).

I always say it that what most Nigerians suffer from is due to the negligence of another Nigerian in his/her job. And our negligence in our various positions is also making another Nigerian to suffer.

Read the above
Yes you are right on the negligence part and I know Nigerians are very ignorant of a lot of things which is as a result of lack of education, lawlessness and lack of faith in the SYSTEM... Until we embrace love and unity and be our brother's keeper ,we are going nowhere. Where is the love when you can't see a stranger and satisfactorily give him/her a lift ...The Doctor's at the Federal Hospitals want you to bribe your way through to get medical attention... The law enforcements who are supposed to protect you expect you to bribe your way thru in order to have an upper hand in a clear case... This is a country where you are dead without money

ifyalways: The lagoon hospital
St Nicholas hospital
Reddington hospital
However, none of the comes cheap and might even be more expensive than going to India.
Now , where is the love ?? If Indian hospitals have MORE expertise and its cheaper to fly there, why would I risk my life when I know of course I can't live twice. My brothers, I have a very close elderly relative who is a Prostate Cancer survivor and is kicking strong even after yrs of surgery in the Middle East.... he was there at the time and considers himself lucky because it costs very little and they called it a minor operation. FYI I have seen a couple of friends or friends of friends whose relatives had Prostate Cancer and I personally did advise them to fly their folks to these countries... None of them ever flew their folks out for surgery and none of them ever survived the surgery in Nigeria. If you were in my shoes , What would you thinkhuh

adewaleafolabi: Sure I agree my sister self is a doctor. But what happens when during the surgery PHCN takes light? And the backup gen fails due to it not being serviced on time? or maybe the money for diesel was embezzled ?
HealthRe: Why Do Kidney Transplant Abroad When It Can Done In Nigeria? by ajibsca: 2:24am On Jul 01, 2013
speedyboi: People who die in Nigerian hospital die mostly Cos of Nonchalant attitudes of Nigerians:
1. Nigerians don't do regular checkups
2. Nigerians don't go to the hospital when they are ill until they've tried everyother stupiid solutions (going to the chemist, drinking concoctions, praying/deliverance or not even using anything believing it will go by it self).

There will definitely be high rate of 'unsavable' deaths anywhere in the world where the citizens behave like this. Aaargh!
When you can't have minor ailments treated , what can you do about the major surgeries... Believe me I have seen people die in this country due to very minor ailments, poor medical facilities and unpassionate Drs and Nurses who just want to get paid other than having the intent of being their brothers keepers and saving lives.....

Yea, this customer thing is prevalent everywhere from the grassroot to the top....Like they dont care, instead of doing their jobs...they act like they were forcefully employed .If they dont like their jobs, they can simply write a resignation letter instead of not doing what you are being paid to do and acting like people doing favors which of course are not free...
waybaloo: I think if people living here cant even feel they can get adequate basic healthcare treatment then how the heck are they going to submit themselves to open surgery like you described. I am sure there are very competent doctors here in Nigeria but the problem is deciphering them from the ones who are not! I have recently heard of two people who went abroad for a second opinion, one of them went straight to A & E as a result. I also know of one death which was a clear case of medical negligence. There is a distinct lack of trust and I have been told many times by many people if I get very ill ... leave the country! Having attended hospital quite a few times for minor issues with my kids I know why. In general there is a lack of customer care and attention in how patients are attended to here. As you sit with the doctor they are usually taking a phone call, addressing someone who has just walked into the room randomly or looking at you with the look of sheer boredom. And yes, I attend one of the very best hospitals here, supposedly. This is not confined to the healthcare sector. It is prevalent everywhere I go and everywhere I find myself a 'customer.' The banks are the worst, eye contact is not even made and they slope off walking very slowly to get whatever paper work. THIS is the issue. The attitude is insipid. And it is real.

Nelly Ghenghen: I once went to this hospital ((name withheld))n the young doctor there was pinging while talking to me shocked so simple answer to simple question "Why do kidney transplant abroad when it can be done in Nigeria"... "Because, I love my life"
@Nelly your post reminds me of a friends sibling who complained of abdominal pains ...We took him to a hospital.. I mean a standard hospital with about 3 floors somewhere in Ogba... and without any form of tests or special examining ... the Dr concluded it was Appendicitis and said Surgery was the only way and it had to be done fast.... I personally insisted that we go do a test elsewhere since everyone I know said Appendicitis is a gradual ailment and the pains come from a particular side of the belly...Low and behold ...the tests revealed it was Acute Thyphoid. To cut the story short...that stewpid Dr could have as well done a Surgery for an ailment the poor boy didnt have, inflicted unnecessary pains on him and still yet risk the boys life. What do we call that huh Incompetence or what huh I for one person believe until the educational, infrastructural and medical system is enhanced in this country ...we are still a childs play since a lot of graduates have Cashificates and not Certificates.

You talk as if you dont live in Nigeria . Where are the hospitals... the general hospital in ikeja or where ? Nigeria loses a lot of its citizens to very minor ailments not to even talk about anything surgical due to lack of proper medical facilities and the black blood in us.Until we can begin to appreciate human life and really love our neighbors as ourselves... Medical treatment in Nigeria is not GUARANTEED. Prostate cancer has killed a lot of people that I know of in this country we are in and when you go to other countries like Saudi, India, Pakistan , UAE etc..they call them MINOR operations. If our government hospitals have failed to perform and we have our leaders flying abroad for treatments..... What can the private hospitals do?? If I were in OJBs shoes, I would do the SAME so they wont use me for experiment.

[quote author=alexray]I earlier posted in the beginning of this thread, about my my plans to travel to dubai in may(for vacation). well my plans are concrete as i have done everything through emirates(visa, flight, airport transfer, hotel).

what i haven't gotten is the exact shops where i can get the following (all for personal use)

I know getting these in the malls will be expensive so i need some other places?

any ideas as to how to handle immigration at the airport considering this is my first time of traveling out??

Talk a walk around Deira Dubai ... Sabkha road precisely... the environs of Index Hotel and Wimpy restaurant... There are some turkish-italian stuffs around there. Mind you , Chinese products abound also so shine your eyes. You shouldn't have any problems with immigration if you have nothing incriminating.

Rooneyboy: Pls how much did u buy this from calculus ?
If ur not comfortable sharing the price here u could send via my mail add or naira land PM.
Brof, All I can say is Calculusx is capable of saving you up to 300k below the marginal cost price of my range of car here in Nigeria. Tested and trusted. Another advantage is you can actually make a choice from a variety of options, know the history of what you are buying and of course have that peace of mind that your $ is in safe hands. My next pre-order which should be an SUV will come from this same channel. Good luck

Mr justwise, I'm clearly and directly pointing out to you that crime is everywhere , the only difference is the rates of crime in every given society. I'm not saying the man did a right thing but he's obviously not the first person to do a thing as such. You can Blame him, but dont generalise your opinions about Nigerians being corrupt, And you better learn to be polite with your words and stop making a job out of trying to criticize other peoples post, mr know it all
TravelRe: Uk Border Official 'gave Away Visas For Tens Of Thousands Of Pounds' by ajibsca:
And who says there are no corrupt people in the Western world. Corruption is everywhere and I for one person clearly state that the Westerners never give you anything for free, its always something for something,  African unity can make our continent strong. We don't have to let them give us conditions for everything, We can also make them kneel to us because they also need us in one way or the other. Do you know how much the British embassy makes out of our pockets. Let's unite and strengthen our nation and continent instead of being hypocritic, A law is always made so it can be broken.

@ Spyder , what of a case whereby I cant spare so much at the present moment for the fencing, Is it possible for me to get this done in 2 phases, Maybe spend 700k and at a later date, finish up the rest. Also do you have an idea what it would cost to get the plan approval for a 4 bedroom and 2 bedroom on 1 plot of land in Agric, Ikorodu . Hope to hear from you soon.
