AyakaDunukofia:Great point. He is probably the most successful Nigerian ex-soccer outside soccer. |
Childofaking:Can you imagine the lie. Let us see both men stay beside eachother. |
The way Nigerians and Nigerian media display dead bodies makes one wonder if people corpses are more like dead chickens. No value or regard for anything. Nigerians have become less human. |
An average sensible Nija girl na witch. They fit tell your future within a glance. It's only greed, peer pressure and economic circumstances that make some of them go astray and go "Olorunsogo" (i.e. God's grace) rather than "Surulere" (i.e. patience pays). |
slawormiir:What if the numbers were rigged to favour Buhari. I am sure a lot of that happened in the last election. |
Righteousness2:How does this take concern Jesus now? |
No matter what you all say, Nigeria must break. It's up to the players and masses to pursue a peaceful breakup. No one was created as slaves for others or as over-lords to others, more so, if they really don't deserve or possess attributes to justify that. There is nothing like unity at all cost. Let us start with "justice for all at all cost" and see where we go from there. |
He has point on the Taliban rehabilitated by Obama administration but to day Trump would have instilled more fear in Taliban is a fallacy. What matter is the end result. It was Trump that decided to pull US troops out of Afghanistan. He started it and even held a meeting with the Taliban where he reached an agreement with them. Sadly, Biden had to follow through on Trump government earlier decision. Trump also created a similar mess in Syria by pulling out US troops. Trump was just a barking dog with no sense. We should at the end results, not the window dressing and propaganda. Biden had more foreign policy experience than any US president in history. |
Terrorist government helping terrorists family members. There is no denying the fact, Nigeria is being led by a group of terrorists and terrorists sympathizers. We should expect what's happening in Afghanistan to happen in Nigeria in some years down the line. But surely their madness will be stopped at the northern margin of River Niger. I am sure those in this terrorist government will be happy with what's going on in Afghanistan now, that it is a good sign that same can happen in Nigeria. At least, it is certain it happen in northern Nigeria. |
Ashirioluwa:Those are Obas who gave up their ancestral traditional rites and ways of their ancestors for Islam or Christianity. They stopped doing the traditional rites that are essential to the throne and thus lost the protection from their ancestors. See what happened to the Oba of Legos during EndSars. He also made the same mistake. |
slawormiir:You understand football so? If you are worried that Man U will use him as defensive midfielder, then what role does he currently play for Leicester? I could see you got many "Likes". Too many novice soccer fans on Nairaland. |
Please ma'm could you kindly indicate the street (not house number) where this happened. We are currently working on a project to map all crimes committed in Lagos, and other states. We don't put names of victims or the suspect. The purpose is just to let people know that a particular type of crime happened in specific neighbourhood so that people would be alert, especially those with children. We cover different kind of crimes. The project will be done before the end of the year and should be available to all to use for crime prevention and safety purpose. |
I was initially shocked yesterday when I saw pictures and videos of the event at the Kara section of Ogun River in Lagos State. I read comments on Nairaland and listened to an interview of a Marine Scientist from the Oceanography Institute on Channels TV. The explanation provided by the Scientist was too general in my opinion. After thinking deeply about what could be going on, I came up with some scientifically-supported and logical assumptions based on general knowledge about ecology of rivers, and related natural systems (geologic, etc). This is Unlikely (though there is no information or activity to support or disprove it 1. A Geologic Event: disappearance of the water into a sinkhole or a newly created "fault-line". Though there was news story few weeks ago about an earth tremor in Saki, Oke-Ogun area of Oyo State (http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/06/earth-tremor-causes-panic-oyo-community/), an area that I believe is part of the catchment of the Ogun River. Unfortunately there is not information to support this assumption. In my Opinion, This is More Likely 2A. An exponential increase in Water Hyacinth in that part of the river due to abundant nutrients introduced into the water from human activity around the immediate catchment (e.g. animal and human wastes from Kara Market, and nearby communities), plus supplied nutrients from areas upstream of the river especially from the recent rain. 2B. An increased growth of Water Hyacinth also led to an increase in the amount of dead plants that get deposited at the bottom of the Kara section of the River which are not quickly broken down as there is less supply of oxygen at the bottom. 2C. An unusually high deposition and trapping of sediments in the Kara section by dead plants at the bottom as well as other living plants body at the upper section, following the recent heavy rain. This mean that a lot of sediments came with the rain as usual but a lot of that sediments get trapped in that section of the river because of what is explained in 2A and 2B. Observe the land use activity just above the river (in the image below) where the land is almost bare. Huge amount of sediments could have come from areas like this. 2D. A pronounced tidal flow downstream (between 17 - 18th of June) from lower section of Ogun River into the Lagos Lagoon and further into the Ocean, which PULLED-OUT any available water in Kara section of the river with it. 2E. After the event above (in 2D) the water in Kara section of the river could not be replaced because water from upstream areas cannot flow into the Kara section of the river since that part is blocked or flow of water into it very low due to the situation explained in 2A and 2B. 2F. If the event in 2D truly occurred, one would expect an inward tidal flow of water to occur later to replace what was taken away but the water could have gone to other parts of the Ogun River catchment since the Kara section is blocked. Note: these are mere factual assumptions. Data on recent tidal flow, water level around the catchments, and investigative activities is needed to support this. I am not sure Nigeria has a very responsive science community, if not, information should have been flying around to help people manage their curiosity and bewilderment on this event. Some say it's a miracle. It's probably not. Help yourself with the images below. AJL2 has a Master degree in Environmental Science and a PhD in Biology; he has participated studies on the Lagos Lagoon. He live and work in North America.
