BusinessRe: Ozza Joint Ventures Plans $100m Oil Refinery In Abia by ak47mann(op): 2:44pm On Sep 05, 2011
This is the real positive move l have observed in Nigeria recently. People across the south east and south south should emulate the move. This is one way to deal with kidnapping and armed robbery by providing jobs to millions of unemployed youths roaming the streets of Nigeria. Governor Orji should see this as a rare opportunity. GOOD cool
BusinessOzza Joint Ventures Plans $100m Oil Refinery In Abia by ak47mann(op): 2:41pm On Sep 05, 2011
A consortium of indigenous oil refinery companies known as Ozza Joint Ventures Oil Field Limited is to start refining crude oil in Umuokwo, Ukwa West of Abia State with a whopping sum of $100 million.

The consortium, Millennium Oil and Gas Limited, Emerald Oil and Gas and Hardy Oil Nigeria Limited, said the group has so far spent about $1 billion on various tests that will spur the commencement of production.

Leader of the group, Andrew Uzoigwe, who disclosed this at the Executive Chambers of Government House when the group paid a courtesy visit to Governor Theodore A. Orji, hinted that the group was the first indigenous one to align with the Federal Government in the oil sector.

Uzoigwe said that during the period the group was carrying out tests, the atmosphere was not investor-friendly due to the activities of kidnappers. He however added that the situation was back to normal.

According to him, the group is on the verge of getting its flow station, adding that it has already signed a memorandum of understanding with the host communities.

He solicited the support of the governor, noting that the group still has challenges with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Crops and Mobile Police that have besieged its operational base Uzoigwe pleaded with the governor to prevail on the NSCDC operatives to vacate the base and also assist the group in the court case hanging on them as a result of communication gap.

“Now that we have finished the testing, we would like to go into commercial production so that the first product will be brought to you for us to showcase that indigenous companies can do better,” said Uzoigwe.

It would be recalled that NSCDC operatives arrested some staff of Ozza Joint Ventures Oil Field Limited for alleged illegal drilling of oil at Ukwa West barely a fortnight ago and charged them to court.

Governor Orji, in his response, however said if the organisation had earlier informed him of their activities in the state, nobody would have harassed them.

He said that initial information reaching his office alleged that the oil firm was operating illegally until recently when he found out that was not the case, pledging the readiness of his administration to partner with the investors.

Politics2015: North Begins Fresh Moves •strategic Meetings Held In Saudi Arabia. by ak47mann(op): 2:26pm On Sep 05, 2011
TOP political leaders from the northern part of the country have commenced a fresh offensive targeted at ensuring that power returns to the area in 2015.

Sources confirmed that a series of meeting were held in Saudi Arabia, as part of the just concluded lesser hajj to wrap up issues believed to be constituting impediments to the northern presidency in 2015.

Sources at the series of meetings held at the Hilton Hotel, Madinah, Saudi Arabia, confirmed that top northern leaders are concerned about how to return power to the zone in 2015.

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) is said to be driving the current bid aimed at returning power to the North.

It was gathered that top traditional rulers from the zone are being recruited to the cause with a view to ensuring that the North speaks with one voice in the push for power in 2015.

A first-class traditional ruler from one of the north-western states, who attended one of the meetings held on August 10, was said to have blamed the failure of the North to clinch the presidency in 2011 on former office holders from the region, whom he said had divided the people with their attitude.

Former presidential aspirant and a chieftain of the ACF, Alhaji Lema Jubril, was said to have led the August 10 meeting, which was also attended by ACF’s General Secretary, Colonel Musa Shehu (retd) and five others.

Sources confirmed that Jubril, who was elated at the decision by the first- class traditional ruler to attend the meeting, said the decision to hold a meeting in Saudi Arabia was aimed at ensuring it was held in a conducive atmosphere away from the prying eyes of journalists.

He was said to have told the meeting that the ACF decided to exploit the opportunity offered by the Ramadan and lesser hajj period “to engage in fruitful discussion on some issues of national interest in a peaceful atmosphere devoid of media attention and other interests.”

He also stated that some governors were already in the know of ACF’s moves ahead of 2015.

It was gathered that a forum of governors of the North had been put in place with the aim of working for the emergence of a northern presidential candidate in 2015.

Sources also said that the North had programmed a unity conference for December 2011, to finally put its plans in a basket ahead of the expected nationwide consultations.

Though four of the governors expected to brief the ACF-organised meetings only sent representatives, it became clear from the outcome of the meetings that the North was moving headlong to confront the 2015 battle.

A source in the know quoted the leader of ACF’s delegation to the Saudi Arabia meetings as saying that the “ACF is presenting for advice and direction, the fortune of the North from now (2011), in 2015 and beyond.”

He was also said to have posited that looking at the situation in Nigeria, the North could be in serious political dilemma if it was not united in the search for power in 2015.

“He (the ACF leader) actually acknowledged that issues of concern include the 2015 succession, particularly how the North can play a united role by ensuring that thepresidency returns to the region in the next election,” the source said.

It was also revealed that the North is concerned about the single term proposal of President Goodluck Jonathan because it feels that the zone could lose out if the president decides to benefit from the constitutional amendment.

Two Policemen Die In Clash With Opc In Oyo

Two policemen were feared dead yesterday in a clash between men of the law enforcement agency and members of the Oodua Peoples’ Congress (OPC) in the ancient town of Oyo.

The fracas came only eight days after a flood of fury brought tears to the face of many residents of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital and brought attention of the world to the state.

Many OPC men also sustained serious injuries in the clash that left Sabo area of the ancient town deserted after gunshots boomed sporadically for hours.

It was gathered that the clash arose during an argument over a land with some OPC members, while the men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), who were on patrol stopped over on   seeing the rowdy situation. On enquiring about what was happening, the OPC men were said to have shunned the policemen, insisting that the matter did not require the intervention of the police.

Apparently irked by the response, the policemen, a source hinted, ordered the OPC men into the waiting patrol vehicle, but this was resisted by the angry OPC members.

The situation was said to have   later snowballed into a show of strength. The police and OPC reportedly opened fire on each other leading to the death of two policemen while some OPC men were said to have sustained serious injuries.

The incident forced residents to hurriedly lock up their shops and home while scampering for safety.

When The Nation visited the Police Area Command office at Durbar, the Area Commander, was said to be attending to a crucial meeting. A reinforcement of both regular and mobile policemen were seen on standby.

A source confided in our reporter that three guns belonging to the police were still missing.

Unspecified number of persons have been arrested by the police with the support of men of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN). The leader of the OPC popularly known as Baba Araga, was said to be at large as at press time.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Femi Okanlawon, however, denied that two policemen were killed. He said only one corporal was killed by supporters of the lead suspect when they ambushed the law enforcement agents.

According to him, the command later reinforced and recovered the deceased’s rifle with which they killed him. Okanlawon said several other locally made arms were recovered from the suspect’s house, stressing that no police gun was missing.

Super-luxury properties in developed countries have a LOT more to offer than running water, electricity and sewage systems. They typically offer stunning views of world landmarks, convenient location to global trade centers and/or direct access to world-class recreational facilities like golf courses or private beaches in choice locations.

What exactly does an apartment on Banana Island offer to justify a $2million price tag? Which sane person with legally-earned money would pay the same sum for an apartment in a mega-slumlike Lagos and an apartment overlooking Central Park in NYC? The valuations make no bleeping sense whatsoever!
you are correct that the whole point, am trying to educate them cheesy my friend he an estate developer in London a Jewish guy and he told me that politicians and some rich Hausa guys from Nigeria buys apartments from him in places like Hyde park in central London for 2.6milion pounds cash so why cant they buy those apartment in Nigeria? example banana republic, cos they know that those apartment/houses in Nigeria don't have a well valued price, our economy is not stable for the past 20years and no infrastructure  in place to guarantee such value and some people with lack of exposure  are already praising and hyping what they don't really know about

@op , i dont think so, Osborn Estate is the most expensive and beautiful, in 2009, i wanted to rent a house in  there, $100,000 was the price, with pool and Generator set, but what stopped me was double agent they have, so i refused to go further, but at last when i look back, am glad i did  not rent that, because it would have been foolishness, and some people in this life are looking for 70,000 naira just to pay for a full year house rent in some part of the country and they dont have, while am wasting 15 million per annum times two to rent just a flat, even overseas , $15,000 will get you a house better than the ones in Banna or Osborn for per annum.

The thing is even our hotels are expensive than the overseas hotel, even the white men are complaining about how expensive and low quality our hotels are when they visit
that what am trying to tell them, 15.000 dollars i believe will get you a well equip secure apartment in US. even in UK they got some dangerous apartment as in how those apartment is design and equip you go comot hat some of them is like you think  u are in another planet,
