MAIDUGURI – Igbo traders and other non-natives of Borno State have started fleeing the area and relocating to their home-states to avoid being killed by members of the Boko Haram who had murdered scores of people including soldiers, politicians, religious leaders and other security agents in the last two years. The majority of the non- natives, especially Igbos, have resorted to selling their houses and other landed property, saying that they no longer feel safe to carry out their businesses in Maiduguri and other neighbouring northern states. It was gathered that those who reside in the crisis-prone areas like Budum, Abaganaram, Kumshe, Ungwar Shanu, Customs area, State low-cost Housing Estate, Gwange, Konar Yobe and London Ciki, among others, have fled their houses, while many of them have put their houses on sale at ridiculously cheaper rates. Four soldiers were killed in the latest bomb attack by the Boko Haram in Maiduguri, Borno State, just as two council bosses were earlier shot dead by the sect members. |
on a serious note If this boko haram thing is so organised and ex service persons are involved then this is a very serious wahala. The security forces, the government have to restratagise and see how they will penetrate or infiltrate this ugly monster. Any serving military person or ex service person or politician, seen to be involed must be named, shamed, disgraced and very severely punished as a great deterrent to others. That this so called boko haram, was planned and developed, without the knowledge of the security forces, beats my immagination. Or is there something they know that, they are not telling us? |

Three persons have been confirmed dead in a bomb attack suspected to have been carried out by the Boko Haram sect at The All Christian Fellowship Church in Suleja, Niger State today. Four persons were also seriously injured and rushed to hospital. The incident was confirmed by the spokesman for the National Emergency Management Agency, Yushau Shuaibu. Saharareporters says the group earlier today also bombed a target near the College of Legal and Islamic studies in the downtown area of the Borno State capital, Maiduguri. The attack came a day after Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima was saved by soldiers from a Boko Haram plot. Reports said suspected Boko Haram members gave a bomb to a 10-year-old boy and asked him to get as close to the governor as possible during his condolence visit to victims of recent attacks in the AA Kotoko residential area of Maiduguri. However, the plot was foiled when soldiers discovered the bomb and defused it. Also on Saturday, suspected Islamist militants threw a bomb at soldiers on patrol in the state capital and engaged the military in a gunfight at Kaleri in London Chiki area.
