Dannyabu: My Wife Lied About Her Age
Four years ago at 35, I married my wife, who I thought was 35. We both wanted children, but unfortunately, she had miscarriage in the second year and stillbirth in the third year. We began consulting a fertility specialist.
After she started asking questions, my wife admitted she is actually eight years older than she had led me to believe. She's 47 years old! She's cried and cried, begging for my forgiveness.
She's gone to try fertility treatments to get pregnant, but I don't want her to continue that for health reasons. I have forgiven her but as an African man; I'm NOT willing to consider the adoption option. She says, of course, that she feared I would walk away if I knew the truth, but she must have known it would come out sometime, somehow. I think I still love her, she is really a wife material, respectful, lovable and very industrious lady but I feel so betrayed! Letting a husband believe you're years younger than you are with all the implications for child-bearing, is a grotesque deception. Sometimes, I'm always wondering if some things she says are the truth. Moreover, after all the wahala and years in-between, her beauty has really waned. She now looks old! We have become butts of joke from neighbours and even strangers when they see us walking together. I look way younger than she is.
I think of getting another wife, but that has not been my person. I think of divorce, but where do I start? Have I wasted 4 years of my life just like that? We still have faith that miracles do happen. Our pastor has asked me to forgive her and move on, that my ability to forgive her will make her more loyal and obedient to me. She is a naturally good person, but for this act of deception.
Maybe if my wife had been honest with me from the beginning, knowing her age I would have adjusted my planning and expectations for children. But she lied. Should I prove her right in her assumption that when I found out the truth, I would walk away? Any thoughts on helping us get through this? I have given all my resources to make this marriage work.
I need matured and sincere advice please! Well, this is a really tight scenario. I would say, since you love her and all the qualities she has keep her as your wife. You can bear child through a surrogate. At least, the child would be of your seed, just of a different biological mother. I think she'd welcome the idea too. |

imperiouxx: lolz. There is no cheap course in U.S. To deal with the course is one thing, to deal with the stringent educational drill in U.S is another thing.
U.S education is not for the weak, it's tougher and makes sense than that of Nigeria, and it has no terrible professors like in Nigeria. Oh yeah... I know there's no course that is "easy". One just has to know what he can /can't do. Only a few people can fit into just anything. |

Joavid: You paid her tuition once. (Which I assume is cheap) and you give her some change every now and then. Ok.
Is that enough for you to say you laboured for her, you sent her to school?
Did she not give companionship in return all those 4years? Was she not cooking, cleaning and washing for you?
Men and lies. She's not leaving you cos you're an OND cert holder (that can still further) with a lucrative business.
She's leaving you cos you're an a$$hoole. No. That's not true, my lady. I believe they made promises to themselves. It's not about "did she not cook, wash, bla bla bla, for you?". You ladies can be mean at times. He did not get into a relationship with her because he wanted her to be his housemaid. He got into a relationship with her because he wanted a future with her. This is purely a case of betrayal. I believe you are one of those wicked ladies who give guys false hope when they know they'll not end up with him. It's wickedness whether you want to agree or not. |

Snazzygirl: Forget psychology for now. As an international student, it doesn't benefit u here or in naija. Psychology isn't developed in Nigeria, and we still have a long way to go. Get a degree that will increase your chances of staying here if that's what you want. Think IT, speech pathology, physical therapy, etc. if psychology is your passion, focus on a degree in healthcare that's more beneficial to you right now. When you finally get your bearing or start processing your papers, you can apply to a grad school and get your psychology doctorate. Just remember to take psychology courses along the way. Best of luck dear! Hmm.. Thank you for your candid and straight to the point answer. You know what? It's not even like Psychology is my passion or something. Let me just put it that I want an "easy way out". I was a student of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, FUTO, Owerri. I dropped out in my Yr 3. FUTO education sucked. It was hell for me. It made me hate and fear Engineering, and it also made me hate Nigerian education. When I dropped out, I started looking to study abroad in the US. I just want to leave this country for good. I feel through education will be a way out. I just picked Psychology because I feel it's a major that will not put too much stress on my brain - no thanks to my FUTO nightmare - but when I started reading about how f***d up Psychology major is, I'm beginning to have a change in mind. I have already developed a phobia for Engineering and I don't think I would love "Jesus to be crucified a second time" so I'm not looking towards Engr. lol. It's not like I'm one dunce or something. As a matter of fact, I was among the overall best three students of my set in secondary school, FGC, so I'm academically okay. My brain used to be hot, but it just feels like all has fallen apart since I got admitted to FUTO. I'll be looking to rekindle my fire, but I don't want to rope myself again with a difficult major like Engineering that's why I was looking in the direction of Psychology which I believe is an easy way out. But since I'd really love to remain in this US, Psyche is a no-no according to ya. Those courses you listed there, I'll surely look into them. They seem appealing. I'd also appreciate if you can give me more options of majors you feel is good and that I'll be interested in. Science majors would do. Thanks for showing some interest in my issue. |

I would really love to remain there but one don't have to put all eggs in one basket, that's why I'm looking for courses that would still be profitable if by chance I find myself back to Nigeria. I asked this question on my own thread but haven't received any response yet. This is the exact question below. Hope someone talks to me :
" I want to study in the US but I'm in dilemma as to which course (major) I'm to study that would be beneficial when I come back here to Nigeria. I wanted to study Psychology but from the reviews from American students and graduates, they say Psychology isn't a very good major in USA owing to the fact that it has one of the lowest paid salaries and high unemployment rate. Can a Psychology degree be useful in Nigeria for me? If not, what course would you advise me to study that would have a high ROI? Note : I don't think I can do any Engineering" |

I have never had an eBay account. This one is, in fact, my first ever eBay account. Made me to even start wondering whether eBay is like PayPal who got issues with Nigerian IP. I've just finished updating my address to that of Chinos and even doing a test bid before they sent me this suspension message. |
