Literature / Sade. by akamzjane(f): 7:59am On Feb 17, 2016
Sharing the same interests didn't change anything he just wanted to sleep with her and he always got what he wanted he wasn't going to compromise his ego........ She on the other hand wanted him but knowing her worth, she wasn't going to put down her ego..... So as the moon came down they both wished someone could put an end to the pride and say the obvious......... Their bodies craved for each other. Sade hasn't felt this way in a long time, her body needed a man inside she knew that following Michael to his house only meant one thing...... 'wild and hot sex' everything in the kamasutra...... And damn! Her body wanted it. As she moved towards him whispering to him 'Do you have a lover? Knowing that he was going to say' No' and that he said. She carved for his hands all over her...... Wanting to put an end to this fantasies in her head. She picked up his phone to play candy crush but that didn't help so she tried his gallery....... Her heart stopped, not again she said his gallery was full of pictures of a particular lady.... As she strolled up giving she saw pictures of Michael and the lady....... Obviously they were an item.... She became cold, frigid and angry. What a waste of fantasy!! Looking at him and smiling she said to herself 'why would you lie just to get me in bed? She wanted him to know that she knew so she held him by the hands and said' Michael if you had a lover and meet someone who is smarter and better than your lover, what will you do? Leave your lover for a complete woman..... What will you do? ' Michael was shaken by the question he look at her and said I will try make my lover meet up to her. Sade laughed and said silently what a disaster....... Now she was cold and sure of what she wanted... She wanted to go home. Michael was unsure has he been able to get her? Is he going to have sex with this lady who no doubt had made his sexual urge rise? All he wanted was to go home and show Sade that he could be better in bed. Sade on the other hand just wanted to go home... Away from him.....

My name is Favour. I am the first born and the only girl. Its not easy I guess you figured that out already from my first writing.
31-05-2015.
I left school earlier than usual, I have been sick and had no money to go for a test or even get drugs. As I walked home, a guy greeted from behind but I didn't answer I wasn't ready to exchange greetings but that didn't stop him, he said 'Madam you dropped your purse! I looked back and collected it with a sharp' Thank you '.
He said' My name is Dozie and you are? Seeing he wasn't going to leave soon I stopped to talk. He collected my number and promised to call me. As I got home not less than 30 minutes my phone rang, it was Dozie and he wanted to take me out for lunch, this I couldn't turn down knowing I didn't have any money to eat... So I made him beg a little and finally agreed.
It was worth it we talked a lot, I told him I wasn't feeling too well and he acted all nice, after a long day he dropped me and gaved me 3k saying I should get better I couldn't say anything I didn't expect it so I just said a quick Thank you and left. As I got home I thanked God. Knowing fully well how guys are.
Days turned weeks, weeks turned months and Dozie became a very close friend. I would go to his place after school and we would eat and watch movies together. Never for once did he act like he wanted more than friendship.
One fateful day Dozie called me at around past 9 'Babiee, can we see now?' He sounded really down so I agreed, before I knew it he was already outside waiting for me. With my short and a big shirt I had on. I hurried out. There he was looking so pale, As he saw me his eyes lightened like I was his drug... I wasn't ready to talk in the car so I kept quiet until we got home. I went straight to the room, As he walked in he was smiling and inside my mind I said 'you don enter am!' He came close and held me so tight and honestly I liked the touch, pulling out I asked him 'what's wrong?' he said 'Nothing, I just didn't want to sleep alone this night' I didn't want to make up things so I just waited for what ever was coming next.
We had ice cream and I fell sleep not until I felt his hands trying to undo my zip. I quickly stood up and shouted 'what's the meaning of this?' he didn't act like he was sorry, in fact he acted like he had every right to. He said 'Don't act like you don't want this come here! I struggled but he won. As he hands ran through my body he kept on saying' why are you so ungrateful? Have I not tried 'I was weak and the only thing that went through my mind was...' only if I was comfortable, only if I had money that day he offered to take me out, only if my parents understood.
Literature / Jane's Memoirs. by akamzjane(f): 11:00pm On Dec 20, 2015
As tears rolled down my eyes I began to ask myself.. How did I survive? How will I survive? Is it just me or there's someone else out there that goes through this?
Its been 6 months my parents have not sent any money to me, I wasn't the type that brings food stuff from the house so I had Nothing..... Nothing at all! Food, toiletries.... Nothing. I felt bad cause they never asked 'How do you survive?' I understand well that the economy is bad but for 6 months?
As a girl child who has no qualification or job experience there's only two things involved... Your body or the favour of God. Men will say how can a fine girl like you be broke. Those who liked you genuinely (thats if we still have them around) will give you money but one day he will come for sex aggressively like its their birth right.
Family members were not nice at all. You will hear someone say 'I thought your father is building a house now, why cant he send you money?' That alone was enough to spoil your week.
My dad didn't make matters Okay.. Always made it look like his not suppose to send money. My mum always said 'Nne if you sucessed in school without doing any bad thing then you are truly strong' ...... I don't know what the future holds, I don't know if I will ever become who I want to become...
Am scared.

Food / "Ofe Oweeri" by akamzjane(f): 10:15pm On Apr 11, 2015
Am from Imo state and trust me when I say this one is a #mustCOOK

- smoked fish
- Stock Fish
- Beef
- Crayfish
- 4 cocoyam corms OR 2 cookingspoonful pounded Cocoyam paste(click to learn how to make cocoyam paste in a blender)
- 2 handful Okazi leaves( if you use dried okazi, grind in blender before use)
- 2 handful Ugwu leaves
- 2 cooking spoonful Palm oil
- 2 Stock cubes
- Salt to Taste
- Pepper  to Taste

Before cooking Ofe Owerri
** Wash and shred the vegetables and leave to strain in a colander/sieve. Set aside

** Boil the cocoyam corms until soft and pound/blend to form a paste(Here'a how to make cocoyam paste in a blender).Set aside

** Soak the smoked fish in hot water to soften it a bit, then wash thoroughly with hot water and carefully clean out the inside without breaking the fish to pieces. Then Set aside.

**Wash the beef and the stock fish and place in a pot

Now to prepare the soup
*Season the meat and stock fish with stock cube, salt and any of your favorite meat seasoning. Add a little water and leave to cook until tender. You can add more water if need be.

*Add the cleaned dried prawns, pepper, stock cube and palm oil.
Mix thoroughly and add the cocoyam paste, bit by bit. Cover and leave to cook until the cocoyam paste dissolve completely. Stir continously so that the soup doesn't burn at the bottom.

* Add the smoked fish and boil for 3 minutes (adding the fish at this stage keeps it from breaking to pieces in the soup).

* Then add the Vegetables. If you are using dried okazi leaves, add this first, simmer for 5 minutes before adding the Ugu/Spinach/Oha leaves.

*Simmer for 3 minutes and add salt to taste, and your delicious Ofe Owerri is ready.

Ofe Owerri is usually served with Akpu(fufu), pounded yam or Eba, but you can also enjoy this rich soup with any other Nigerian bolus meals .
Food / Beef Pepper Soup! by akamzjane(f): 10:06pm On Apr 11, 2015
This cold weather.......you should try this.

Ingredients for Pepper Soup:

Chicken | Cow Foot | Assorted Beef
Ehu or Ariwo or Calabash Nutmeg - 4 seeds
Chilli Pepper
Dry Uziza - 2 teaspoons
Onions -
Salt
Seasoning ( 1 teaspoon of Thyme (for chicken pepper soup)

Before you cook the Nigerian Pepper Soup

If preparing Chicken pepper Soup, it is preferable to use whole chicken instead of drumsticks. The different parts of the chicken will bring variety to the pepper soup. So wash and cut up the whole chicken and set aside.
If you want to prepare Assorted Beef Pepper Soup then you should buy different parts of beef - best cut, offal (shaki, round-about, liver and kidney). Wash the offal thoroughly especially the round-about which should be turned inside out during the washing. Cut these into medium pieces, just big enough to be chewed in one go.
For Cow Foot Pepper Soup, just wash and cut the cow foot into medium pieces. In this case also, make the pieces just big enough that it can be chewed in one go.

Now it is time to prepare the 'secret' ingredient. Using an old frying pan, roast the Ehu seeds (stirring constantly) till you can smell it. Don't worry you will know when it is OK to take it off because it has a distinctive aroma. Another way to know that it is OK is to take one of the seeds and try to remove the outer membrane. If the membrane comes off easily, then the Ehu is done.

Peel off the membrane from all the Ehu seeds and grind with a dry mill.
Cut the onions into tiny pieces.
Rub the dry uziza with your fingers to break them into tiny pieces.
Cooking Directions

This cooking direction describes Chicken Pepper Soup. To prepare Goat Meat Pepper Soup, Cow Foot Pepper Soup or Assorted Beef Pepper Soup just substitute chicken with cow foot or beef and offal respectively.
Place the pieces of chicken in a pot and pour enough water to cover the contents of the pot. Add the stock cubes, thyme and onions and cook till done.
Note: When cooking Assorted Beef Pepper Soup, you should cook the shaki for sometime before adding the other beef parts. Shaki is tough and will take longer to cook than the other beef parts.
Cow foot is a tough part of meat so when cooking Cow Foot Pepper Soup, you should use a pressure cooker if you have one. This will save you some gas or electricity.
By now, you will notice that some of the water has dried. Add more water to bring it to the level of the contents of the pot.
Add the ground Ehu, dry uziza, chilli pepper and salt to taste. Ehu has some spicy taste so you should add chilli pepper with care. Even though it is called pepper soup, you still want to be able to taste and enjoy the recipe itself. Too much chilli pepper will ruin it for you.
Cover the pot and leave to boil for 5 minutes and the pepper soup is ready.
Pepper Soup should always be served hot. It can be eaten alone with a chilled drink by the side. You can also eat it with Agidi, White Rice or Boiled Yam.
Enjoy!!!

Food / "Ewa Agoyin". by akamzjane(f): 4:21am On Apr 11, 2015
I really miss this food ever since I left lagos I haven't eaten ewa agoyin the way I do.Yes! It takes time but the taste is worth it. Ewa Agoyin simply means plain boiled beans eaten with a pepper sauce.

Ingredients
Beans (Brown/Black eyed): 2 cigar cups
Red Palm Oil: about 5 cooking spoons
Plum Tomatoes: 5 big ones
Crayfish (a handful)
Onions – 1 big bulb
Pepper & Salt to taste
Seasoning – 2 Maggi/Knorr cubes

Before you cook Ewa Agoyin
Soak the beans in cold water for 5 hours. Boil the beans for 5 minutes and discard the water. Rinse the beans in cold water and set aside. This soaking and pre-cooking process will help reduce the gas inducing elements. For more on that visit: How to Reduce Beans Bloating.
Chop the onions, grind the crayfish and pound the pepper.
Blend the tomatoes and boil the tomato puree till all the water has dried from it.
Pre-cook the diced onions without any added water. The aim is to get it to caramelize a bit so that it will take less time to fully caramelize during frying.
Cooking Directions

Cook the beans till done. For Ewa Agoyin, the beans needs to be very soft.
Note: If you have a pressure cooker, beans is one of the staple foods you will want to use it for. It considerably reduces the cooking time.
When the beans is done, add salt, leave to dry up all the water and set aside.
To cook the Agoyin, pour the palm oil into a separate dry pot. Allow to heat up till the oil starts smoking and the red colour changes to clear. It is better to do this at medium heat so that the oil does not get too hot too quickly. Remember to turn off your smoke alarm before doing this. smiley

To keep the smoke to a minimum and still have the traditional taste of Ewa Agoyin, I use vegetable oil and when it is very hot, I add a small amount of palm oil.now add the precooked onions and stir continuously till the onions is fully caramelized. It should be very dark in colour.
Add the parboiled tomato puree and stir continuously till you cannot tell the difference between the tomatoes and onions.
Add the pepper, crayfish, stock cubes and salt to taste. You can also add a little water at this point if your want.
Stir very well and bring to the boil. The Ewa Agoyin is ready!
Serve by dishing the beans into a plate and scooping some Agoyin stew on it. Ewa Agoyin can be eaten on its own, with soft and stretchy bread (known as Ewa ati Bread) or with fried plantains.

Food / All You Need To Know About "Nsala Soup". by akamzjane(f): 3:50am On Apr 09, 2015
This happens to be my best soup. Nsala soup or White Soup is a tasty, fast and easy soup recipe that has its origins in the riverine areas of Nigeria.

Nsala Soup is perfect for a cold rainy day due to its spicy taste. Because it is so easy to prepare, you can count on it to save the day when you run out on soup a few days before the big soup day
Ingredients

Cat Fish: 4 one-inch thick pieces
Fresh or dry Utazi Leaves (Gongronema latifolium)
Thickener: Raw White Yam / Yam Powder / Potato Puree
Habanero peppers: to taste
Salt (to taste)
Crayfish (a handful for 4 cuts of fish)
Seasoning – 1 stock cube (Maggi / Knorr) and Ogiri Okpei / Iru (Nigerian traditional seasoning)
Alternative Ingredients for Nsala Soup

When using yam powder as thickener, mix the powder with hot water first to make a thick smooth paste (as if you are making pounded yam) before adding it to the soup. Adding the powder directly into the soup will make the soup mushy and you may end up with lumps.
In the absence of habanero pepper, you can use dry chilli pepper.
Utazi leaves do not have any good alternative. If you don't have it, no worries because it only adds a slightly bitter flavour to the soup.
Before you cook Nsala Soup

Cut the catfish into 1 inch thick cylindrical discs and remove the intestines. Place in bowl and pour very hot water on the fish. This process of pouring hot water on the fish toughens the skin of the fish so that the pieces do not disintegrate while cooking the soup. Leave for about 2 minutes and wash the fish with cold water. You should also wash off any slimy substance on the outer skin of the fish at this time.
Boil a few cubes of raw white yam. When soft, pound with a mortar and pestle till a smooth paste is formed, then set aside. You can substitute white yam with yam powder or potato puree for the thickening.
Wash and pound/blend the utazi leaves, the chilli pepper and the crayfish and set aside. Utazi is bitter in taste and only used for flavouring so one or two leaves should be enough especially when using the fresh leaves.
Cooking Directions

Place the catfish in a pot and pour enough water to cover the fish. Add the seasoning and cook till done. Feel free to add beef and dry fish to this soup recipe.
When the catfish is almost done, add the crayfish, pepper and utazi leaves blend. Also add the yam paste in small lumps and salt to taste.
Note: Catfish is what makes Nsala soup what it is, giving it the unique taste that it has so it is essential to this recipe. The only other fish that I have found to be close to Cat fish as regards to this recipe is Conger Eel.
Cover the pot and allow the contents to cook at high heat till all the yam paste have dissolved. While cooking, if you think that the yam paste will make the soup too thick, you can remove some that are yet to dissolve.
The Nigerian Nsala Soup is ready to be served with Eba (Garri), Semolina, Amala, Pounded Yam etc.

Poems For Review / Last Blow. by akamzjane(f): 3:28am On Apr 09, 2015
Why do you do this to me?
Why do you make me cry?
Am I not beautiful enough or do I not have enough charm?

Why is it that you make me feel like a dog that you have chained to the tree and trained to answer only at your beck and call?
Misery and pain is what you have taught me to believe in.

Do you think you're perfect?
You rodent,evil man
Now I have seen the truth!!!!
I will bring back that sparkle,
I will not sit back and let your wickedness slowly kill who I really am deep inside.

Courage and bravery is what I will make.
you are no better, you are no good,
A fake, a fraud, and a pitiful excuse for anyone to call a lover
But even more you're not even worth having the title of being called a man.

Let me go, let me live, set me free.
I will constantly praise myself.
I will win, you will lose and one day I will wake and see you for the beast we know you to be.
All the misery all the pain all the tears and agony you have dished out
Will one day come to haunt you and bring you down.

And in the end the good always wins...Because you have to have me.
And I will finally be the woman am suppose to be.
I wish you well and bid you goodbye
Because from this day you are nothing to me but a speck of dirt passing by . goodbye!!!

Health / All You Need To Know About Lime "The Green Super Hero". by akamzjane(f): 2:36am On Apr 09, 2015
I never knew lime could do so much not until my little research on lime started.
Lime is a favorite when it comes to citrus fruits. Whether eaten as a fruit, used in various dishes or consumed as juice, this fruit is something almost everyone enjoys.
There are several varieties of lime to choose from, with colors ranging from medium green to yellow. On ripening, limes turn yellow in color. In India ‘mosambi’ or sweet lime is a popular fruit and its juice is widely sold by roadside vendors.

All over the world, lime is widely used to make jams, pickles, sorbets, snacks, candies, cocktails and other beverages. Apart from consumption, the oil extracted from lime peel is used as an ingredient in skin and hair care products like toothpastes, beauty soaps, deodorants, hair oils, body oils, disinfectants and mouth washes.
Limes aren't just the tart fruits of the Citrus aurantifolia tree, they're also tiny powerhouses of vitamins and nutrients. The benefits of limes aren't limited to culinary delights, either. The nutritional content of limes can be put to use improving the internal and external health of your face and skin when applied topically or ingested.

As is apparent, lime offers many benefits, some of which are listed here

SKIN BENEFITS OF LIME:
Citrus fruits are known for their beneficial effects on the skin and lime is no exception. Lime juice, whether taken orally or applied topically, benefits your skin in several ways. Being rich in powerful antioxidants like Vitamin C, citric acid and flavonoids, lime provides the following benefits to your skin:

1. Treats Dark Spots:
Lime juice is considered as a natural bleaching agent due to its skin lightening properties. It can be used to lighten dark spots. All you need to do is apply it with a cotton ball to the darkened portions of your skin and leave it for 30 minutes. However, ensure to stay indoors and avoid direct exposure to sunlight as this remedy can make your skin sensitive to sunlight. Also, it is advisable to apply sunscreen before venturing out. You can also use this remedy to lighten dark underarms.

2. Treats Acne And Blemishes:
Acne, pimples, and blemishes are caused when dirt, oil and dead skin cells clog your pores. Acne and pimples are common problems for people with oily skin. The bacteria present in facial pores aggravate the inflammation, increasing redness and soreness. The antibiotic properties of lime juice inhibit the growth of the acne causing bacteria. To keep acne and pimples at bay, you can prepare a face pack of lime juice with honey. While honey possesses anti-bacterial properties that prevent the growth of bacteria, the acidic nature of lime juice will control excess oil. This face pack should be used every week as part of your skin care regimen. The scars left by pimples can be lightened by massaging some fresh lime juice on them.

3. Anti- Ageing Properties:
With the progression of age and exposure to UV rays, melanin that imparts color to your skin, can build up and get accumulated in your skin, giving rise to dark spots and other signs of aging. The peel of lime inhibits melanin production. Scrubbing your skin with lime peel or applying facial mask containing bits of lime peel can significantly reduce this hyper-pigmentation.

4. Treats Skin Tan:
Excessive sun exposure can tan your skin. Lime juice can be used to remove this tan effectively. All you need to do is prepare a face pack by mixing some gram flour (besan) with curd (dahi) and add some lime juice to this mixture. Apply this paste evenly on your skin and allow it to dry. Now wash your face with water and dry it. This face pack should be applied weekly for better results.

5. Removal Of Dead Skin and for a glowing skin:
The citric acid present in lime peels can slough off dead skin cells. They are often used in beauty treatments in spas as well as home remedies to improve the health and appearance of facial skin.
For a glowing complexion, all you need to do is have a glass of lukewarm water with some honey and freshly squeezed lime juice early in the morning regularly. This will provide an inner glow to your skin.

6. Other Benefits:
Lime helps rejuvenate your skin and protects it from infections, thanks to its antioxidant, disinfectant and antibiotic properties. The presence of large amount of Vitamin C and flavonoids in lime juice helps reduce body odor and sweat. For this purpose, you can mix some lime juice in your bath water to get a rejuvenating bath experience. When applied externally on your skin, it helps treat bruises and rashes.

HAIR BENEFITS OF LIME:

If you thought that the benefits of lime end here, you need to take a look at its benefits for your hair. Besides being effective in skin care, lime peels and lime juice play an important role in hair care as well. The benefits of lime for hair is as follows:

1. Treats Dandruff:
Dandruff is, undoubtedly, one of the most common hair problems. It is a condition characterized by excess flaking of the scalp. Lime juice is often used as an ingredient in anti-dandruff shampoos. Citric acid present in lime juice has been found to be very effective and beneficial in dealing with dandruff issues. To get rid of dandruff problem, rub lime slice directly on the scalp. Rinsing hair with lime juice added to water also helps in removing dandruff. Lime juice can sometimes dry your scalp. In such a case, you can combine it with olive oil, coconut oil or almond oil.

2. Treats Hair:
Oily hair is caused due to the secretion of excess oil called sebum by sebaceous glands, giving your hair a sticky, oily and dull appearance. Lime juice, with its oil absorbing property, rids your scalp of all the excess oil. Rubbing a slice of lime on the scalp for few minutes before rinsing can also help in removing the excess oil from your scalp and hair. Alternatively, you can add 1-2 tablespoons of lime juice in water and rinse your hair with it to remove excess oil.

3. Promotes Hair Growth:
Lime juice is good in promoting hair growth. It has been used to treat baldness, hair thinning and hair loss problems for ages now. The main nutrient that promotes hair growth is Vitamin C, which is present in limes in large amount. Addition of lime juice to various oils and its application promotes hair growth.

4. Lime For Shiny Hair:
Shiny hair is loved and desired by all. Lime juice can impart that much desired shine to your hair. Application of lime juice along with honey and olive oil mixture before washing your hair can provide you with shiny sparkling hairs. Lime juice is also incorporated in shampoos along with other essential ingredients for providing you with silky smooth and shining hair.

5. Lightens Hair Color:
As stated earlier, lime juice possesses natural lightening properties. If you want your hair color to be lightened without the use of chemicals, lime juice is a great option. All you need to do is apply lime juice on your hair and sit in the sun for an hour or expose your hair to sunlight. Then, rinse your hair.

OTHER HEALTH BENEFITS:
-REDUCES BACTERIA.
-TIGHTENS PORES.
-REMOVES DEAD SKIN.
-PREVENT FORMATION OF KIDNEY STONES.
-LOWERS CHOLESTEROL.

Are you still there? You better hurry to the next market and get all the lime you need. Tell the world how this "Green super hero" save you.
Poems For Review / Lost Love. by akamzjane(f): 2:22am On Apr 09, 2015
You broke my heart in two
And took me like a bet,
with all you put me through
I have no regrets.

It cut so deep into me
I guess it hurt you too
but when you did it, then you lied
I gave you all I had.

I tried to make it last
but now all we have
are memories from the past.

So look me in the eye
and tell me what you see
a girl so broke inside
who's been through misery.

And now I’m moving on
with the pain that kills inside
but I’m starting to forget
by reminding myself, how you lied!

I have somebody new
someone to treat me right,
to talk to lovingly
and to hold me all night.

He's there for me when I need him
to give me love and support
to hold me close and wipe away
all my signs of hurt.

To kiss me softly every night
and let me know he's there
to call me just because,
just to tell me that he cares.

Now here I go again
fallen so hard, so deep
but this time it's different,
this is one I want to keep!

I will always love him just because of what he taught me.... Nothings forever.
Love lasts.
always remember this I love you
but I love me more,I had to learn that when you walked out the door.
