Car TalkShock Absorbers are meant to Die With Cars? How True!!! by akanniade10(op): 6:57pm On Apr 28, 2016
A friend abroad said shock absorbers isn't something we should be changing every 6months to 1year. Is it true that shock absorbers are meant to die with cars?

TokyoBulls:
I understand your points and where you come from but I have been on Uber for some time and my advice is from this. In Lagos, 50K net income every week is tough UNLESS the car is brand new and you don't need repairs. I have drivers who have crossed N180K few times but the reality is, can they do N180K every week? NO. Can they do N150K every week? NO. Can they do N120K every week? Maybe but from experience, NO. N100K to N120K is the realistic gross income for a very hard working driver. Most drivers don't cross N80K per week. I know the partner and driver you are talking about and I can tell you it is possible once or twice but not consistently. Experienced partners who see those numbers will always laugh because they understand the system. If these N200, 000 numbers are possible weekly, then you won't see many partners offering their cars on Uber Finder. The reality is, those in the system know the business and what's possible. Thanks
Noted and thanks for the Info. No knowledge is wasted. Hoping to join u guys by next month as a partner-driver, got few friends on Uber and am here learning a thing or two as well. Would love to join with a bigger ride tho, but my financial capacity can't go higher than the 2015 Grand Xcent (brand new).
BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by akanniade10(m):
From my understanding, I believe both of you are right in your own way. Fanex is looking at it from an angle of 150k gross income or slightly more. I think 55-60k is attainable depending on hard work tho. At least there are big ballers that make over 200k weekly.

There is this particular partner and his driver that made over 200k weekly twice in less dan a month.... Don't wanna mention their names.

And as TokyoBulls rightly said, it's not constant but it can be attainable in a week or 2.

As a businessman, I would rather zero my mind to 50k weekly. That's why it's a business, if it comes more than that, Glory be to God!!!

fanex:
55k - 60K A Week is the fair amount
TokyoBulls:
I am confident no driver can deliver N60,000 to you in a consistent and sustainable way so I advise you manage your expectations right. To deliver N60,000, the driver needs to make NGN (60,000 for you + 15, 000 for fuel + 20, 000 for himself + 5, 000 for data phone calls, + 10, 000 for routine maintenance + 10, 000 for repairs + X, 000 for miscellaneous costs). This is over N120, 000 as net income after Uber deducts 20% and I can confidently tell you no driver can deliver this. You also need to be careful so the car is not misused and/or overused. To deliver N100, 000 (which is minimum 20% less than your expectation), the driver needs to do 15 or more trips per day and that's a lot of stress and strain on the car. If you run your numbers well, you will understand these details and (perhaps) reset your expectations. You may get a driver to give you N60,000 for one or two weeks, but it will not happen for a month.

maternal:
No vex, but you're a walking contradiction. It's actually become comical and insulting to those trying to leave naija. I won't even get into. But all I want to say is that despite you claiming to be a wise/business individual, why can't you see the business moves your parents did for you ? You think borning you in America was a coincidence ? You think you "deciding" to comeback to America after college was a coincidence too ? My friend even the naija you're hailing your parents knew was crap and planned your easy escape. If you didn't have that yankee passport you'd be back in naija struggling, looking for a way t come abroad. Lets please all respect ourselves abeg, and not discourage those praying to be in your situation.

SmartMugu:
Pls re-read my first post and highlight what translates to whatever you're saying about me now. I feel like we are saying the same thing in two different languages, yet we are both typing in English, which is weird. What have you said that goes against what I said in my original post? I'm open to corrections, please point out what I said in my original post that you would to correct me on.

All I was trying to tell everyone can be summarized easily

1. Living somewhere is different from visiting the same place.

2. Choosing to live somewhere instead of just visiting comes with its own type of drama that isn't same as in Nigeria.

3. Be prepared with the right information before jumping on a plane because you just want to get out of Nigeria.

I grew up and schooled in Lagos.
All I knew how to do in Naija back then was school and hustle until I dipped out in 2004 right after college. Several folks here on NL were probably still in their diapers the night I dipped out.

What type of hustle in Lagos can you narrate to me that I haven't done or I'm not aware of? Unless the idea came from Mars. So, I understand hustle and don't school me - in your words.

I personally think it would help anyone that has hustled before in Nigeria to hustle less when they make it out of the country, and having access to the right information can get them prepared. Unfortunately, you and others took it like I'm discouraging anyone.

Congrats on your two visits to the UK, I can't count how many times I've been there.

Yes, I'm married to an American, but I've been an American myself from birth, so I didnt have to marry for papers. I was raised in Nigeria decided to bounce after college in Nigeria
I didn't leave any stable girlfriend in Nigeria and decided to marry an American I dated for over 6 years here about 4 years ago and we have two lovely kids and are still happy together after 10 years together.

I don't agree with going back home to find some random girl to bring over like several Nigerians do.
Is that a crime?

No one is trying to school you, school yourself with the information available to you.
Really! Are you this pained? You had to go modify your post to paste this epistle. Tot u had better things to tend to. Now I can see where you coming from....... Lol!!! Your points have been countered on this thread severally yet you insist to make a fool outta yourself.

I maintain my stands, continue discouraging your fellow brothers well maybe they are naive. Like I said earlier, people are now wise. Abroad isn't a place where money is being pluck on trees and they know that. Fact remains Living in America is still better than living in Naija maybe with a very few exceptions. You can go read dat in my earlier post since you got lotta time to be editing posts.

Congrats on my 2 UK visits!!! It's actually 4 tho and I currently have a 5 year visit visa which isn't expiring anytime soon. Don't have a reason yet to visit Yankee anyway, i could put that in my to-do-list later during the year.

Dunno why a part of me believes you marrried that American just to secure your PR. "All na Hustle"

*my opinion.

Encourage your brothers and sisters and don't picture living abroad as HELL.

After reading your various posts on this wonderful thread, I can deduce that your Mugu self ain't Smart after all.

SmartMugu:
I'll say a quick prayer for you. May God grant you all your wishes. If one of them is to travel abroad to hustle, may God set the pace for you. May God also make your paths as clear as you want them.
Why did I pray for you? Hopefully sometime while you're abroad, you'll remember one Smartmugu you just criticized for just saying the truth.
BTW, I never discouraged anyone, just telling people what many don't know. I don't live in Nigeria, and would encourage everyone to explore other nations like I said in my original post you criticized me for.

Your comment about telling my brothers not to travel abroad is wrong. Everyone in my family has been all around the world. Many chose to live in Nigeria afterwards, running their own businesses - labor is cheaper in Nigeria, they could have done same business anywhere else in the world they want.
Been to the UK a couple times so don't school me about traveling abroad, my Mom and Sister are UK citizens and are living there. I only go there to Visit. And yes I choose to live here cos it pays me.

But I still stand on my words that your first write up isn't encouraging anyone who wants to go abroad to hustle. Why did u relocate? Why did you marry an American? All na Hustle!!! If u can survive it, why can't others? In this Age and Time, people know abroad is not where you go to pluck money on trees, but trust me no matter what you say It's better than living in Naija except if maybe you have a very very good job and a very viable business.
