SexxyNaija , I sincerely hope your question is honest . The truth is that Yoruba is almost a "religion" . You will find fifth generation Yoruba people living in South America and the West Indies more difficult to handle than those that came from Nigeria. To them , their Yoruba is very serious business . Yoruba is such a deep culture that you can never find the beginning or the end of it .Enough of the introduction however, if you're serious do go ask serious questions at www.yorubaland.org |

CityBoy: @Sweet T @Tope_Fl
I think these guys have completely answered my question. Nigerians are indeed our own worst enemies. Does a handful of persons caught every year for fraud, and a few hundred unemployed idiots sending out silly emails to some other desperate idiots all over the world mean that an entire country of 150million is full of thieves ? I don't think so.
See the UK House of Commons speaker spending more than N400 million to renovate his house and the country is playing it down and quietly investigating it . Did Bush not rig election ? (please ignore this; it is another matter entirely ) If it is Nigeria we will all go to CNN to broadcast it so that the world can know that we have become civilised . we always think that the world is looking at us . For where ?! Most people outside Nigeria don't even know where Nigeria is !! In fact many still ask if Africa is a country !! They are only laughing at us , taking our money and insulting us. They know that crime has no colour or country , but if you want to claim ownership they will give it to you and make it your property. Let us stop bringing ourself down and let us start building a nation.
@Tope_Fl BTW the link you sent is highly unkind and destructive.
Guys, please lets get our facts right before making statements. The House of Commons is being investigated for £4,000.00 expenses claimed for cab charges and not N400 million for house decoration as stated. If this was our only problem in Naija, then we all wont even be having this conversation. Yes, we are a country known for scams and its not unfair but a true reflection of the rot we all live in. The earlier we accept this the better for all. Even our govt is a fraud or how else can you explain govt awarding major contracts to non existing companies. Never compare our situation to the UK or US. I get the impression that we are not speaking the same language here. Yoruba have a saying that : It is on the day that a madman agrees that he is insane, that he begins to get better. Yes we agree that Nigeria is corrupt . Indeed to eradicate the corruption within the next five to ten years will in fact take the Rawlings type of desperation . Otherwise we must strive to make corrupt people feel very bad and bring them to book , and that is happening now isn't it. Nigeria is not the only corrupt people in the world , we must also understand that . I have friends working in public works department in UK and US, who get the impression that they have not left Nigeria considering the underhand deals that they see there. Nevertheless f**k them and their countries; Nigeria is corrupt, this we knowbut should that be your daily song and dance ? Come on let us celebrate our successes too |

Oprah Winfrey is just another bloody American television producer trying to make sensational TV program . And by the way , we people who have visited the arse of America know how smelly it is. In places where there is predominant black population 80% of the men under 30 have been to prison or are on their way to prison and this is a fact . Can you say this about Nigerian communities ? Please open your eyes and don't get blinded by TV. Take a look at Prof Olufunmilayo Olopade, who won the McArthur genius award, for her work on breast cancer, take a look at Chimanda the lauret writer, and many others, these are people that we should cue from. Now why is Oprah Winfrey not making television programs about this. The truth is that bad news sells on television , and good news have very little value. Now tell me what is likely to happen to the truth - it will be quietly buried (I have an unspeakable name for her already but I am a polite guy). Again as Emonkey has asked earlier - where are you getting your funny statistics ? 3 out of 5 Nigerians a fraudster ? Certainly there is no member of my household that is a fraudster , and nobody has ever come to my house to count the number of fraudsters . What about you ? how many members of your house is a fraudster ? We don't yet know the complete truth about the power contracts yet anyway so don't get so dejected yet. The truth of the moment is that only Nigerians can improve Nigeria , and only Nigerians can destroy Nigeria - by echoing lies. |

favcom: For whatever reasons, many Nigerians have resorted to the ignoble act of scamming, but that doesn't make everyone of us a scammer. It can be very annoying when someone accuses you for what you never did Correction sir, "some Nigerians" and not "many Nigerians" . There is a difference. And as I have demonstrated by examples of scam mail that I receive everyday , scammers come from every part of the world . I live in UK by the way. The reason why the typical westerner find the Nigerian scam intolerable is the disgrace of being outwitted by a person that you think is mentally inferior to you - a black man. Therefore dear Nigerians get used to the fact that you may indeed be mentally superior , and begin to use that wisdom for good things that will benefit the country and the world . There was a time also that the Lebanese were considered the most dangerous people to do any business with . There was a time also that nobody would buy anything from china or japan because they were considered inferior. now see where they are now. We must start being great from somewhere. |

Oh dear ! I am the next of kin to a dead millionaire !! For Your Kind Attention.
We are a Corporate Financial Service Provider in Europe. We had a customer who deposited 24.3 million pounds with us and eventually died without any reference to a next of kin.
In accordance with the EU Trust and Federal Laws, at the expiration of 6 (six) years, his investments with our Financial Trust shall revert to ownership of the government of the country of the said investments if nobody applies as the next of kin to claim the investments.
Since you share the same surname with this client, I want to present you to stand in as the next of kin so that you and I can benefit from this investment equally (i.e. 50% for you and 50% for me). I guarantee that this will be executed under legitimate arrangement that will protect us from any breach of the law.

Why would the governor of the central bank for nigeria be sending email to some idiot american who he doesn't know to come collect $10 million dollars in Nigeria . And some fall for it . Isn't it crazy ? I just got another one . Certainly not from Lagos . (Did this one teach nigerians or did nigerians teach him ?) Wonders will never end.
Dear Friend, This letter may come to you as a surprise due to the fact that we have not yet met. After searching through your country's Chamber of Commerce and industry here in London I am contacting you to assist me, I have to say that I have no intentions of causing you any pains as you read this. I don't want you to feel sorry for me, because, I believe everyone will die someday. My name is Prof.FRANK ADAM, a professor of chemistry here in London, presently taking medical treatment. I have been diagnosed with Prostate and Esophageal a cancer that was discovered very late due to my uncaring attitude for my health. It has defiled all form of medicine and right now, I have only about a few months to live according to medical experts. To be frank with you, I have not particularly lived my life so well, as I never really cared for anyone not even myself but my business and money. Though I am very rich, I was never generous, I was always hostile to people and only focus on my business as that was the only thing I cared for. But now I regret all this as I now know that there is more to life than just wanting to have or make all the money in the world. I believe when God gives me a second chance to come to this world I would live my life a different way from how I have lived it. Now that I know my time is almost up, I have willed and given most of my properties and assets to my immediate and extended family members and as well as a few close friends. I have decided to give alms to charity organizations, as I want this to be one of the last good deeds I do on earth. So far, I have distributed money to some charity organizations here in UK, United Arab Emirates and Ireland. Now that my health has deteriorated so badly, I cannot do this my self any more. I once asked members of my family to close one of my accounts and donate the money which I have there to some charity organizations in Bulgaria, they refused and kept the money to themselves. Hence, I do not trust them anymore, as they seem not to be content with what I have left for them. The last of my money is the huge cash deposit (20mGBP) that I have with a Finacial Instute. I will want you to help me collect this deposit and dispatched it to charity organizations and let them know that it is I, Prof.FRANK ADAM that is making this generous donation. I am writing this from my laptop computer in my hospital bed where I wait for my time to come.
As soon as I received your sincere response, I will hence give you my attorneys contact who is in the position to give you all the necessary details of how this can be done. I pray that you will support and assist me with good heart so that I can be able to achieve my goal. If you accept to help me do this, I promise you a reward of 30% of the (20mGBP). PLEASE DO CONTACT ME ON THIS E-MAIL ADDRESS:proff.frankadam@yahoo.com Thank you for understanding. PROF.FRANK ADAM. |

Excuse me?
Apart from the politicians selling Nigeria cheap to their white counterparts, it only takes a few people to destroy a nation. I was watching a program about some Nigerian 419ers on NBC the other day and they showed this guy that was busted for trying to defraud Chris hansen of NBC. When Chris Hansen asked him if he has any explanations for his actions, the idiot asked for a "Beer" to drink. I felt so ashamed that i felt like shooting the bastard between the eyes. What a shame. Don't be narrow minded. If a Nigerian is caught for a crime by all means let the authorities treat him like just any other human being in the world who is responsible for the choice he has personally made in life , and not " a typical Nigerian" . there is nothing like a typical Nigerian - we have all come from different homes and we bear different names. I don't know who Chris Hansen is and I don't know how he got involved in dealing with fraudsters anyway. Is it so that he can have a show to put on television ? Go figure, man. Bros I think the person you should be shooting is your Chris Hansen |

wavemasta: I heard a story that some people from other african countries, commit crimes, and then claim they are from Nigeria when they are caught. I heard of a case of a guy from one of these countries robbing a store. When they called the police and said it was a Nigerian, the cops were like "No, Nigerians don't steal from stores", the implication being that we focus on higher level crimes, i.e yahooze. Well I guess its up to us to try and project a positive image of ourselves, as individuals, and be good ambassadors of our Nation. Peace! That is a common story . One Indian once told me - " the people I respect most in this world are Nigerians. They don't do robberies and selling petty drugs, but they really know about cards" . We have a lot of brains being put to bad use. Let's try to harness them to do good things for the country. |

damola1: To the guy who says not in his Generation, well he can Die with Obasanjo generation, as for me, I have started seeing changes, I have seen people move from just talk but to the boardroom, I have seen people die for my country ( MKO, Falae = Chief Bola Ige etc), I have seen noise makers like Oshomole become a governor, listen, If you are outside Nigeria you are missing and this is the best time to come home, whatever your skill, people will tripple the price here, everything is growing very fast and better!!.
2. Lets go down past time: 20years ago, was my country like this?, with the way things are changing and people with sense are getting into power, do you not think 20years down, Nigeria will be greater,
Why don't we give names like Olosi, ODE, MUMU rather; damola to our children, because of course we want them to be wealthy, just the same way, lets speak well of the good things about our country, and just maybe that guy who might be considering defrauding another will have a change of heart, it's largely because a lot of people have givien up on this great nation that they continue to do bad, give them hope and see how things will change
I am proudly Nigerian!!! Well said. If you see the environmental transformations going on in Lagos over the last one year or so, you will know that Nigeria can be great within a short time if we can have even a few leaders who know where they are going - and not idiots playing politics with Adedibu and other thugs. I predict that in five years Lagos might not be recognisable , thanks to the new breed professionals in power - and most especially for the foundations laid by Tinubu . In Nigeria, we have the money, we have the manpower , all we need to pray for is selfless leaders and WE WILL SHAKE THE WORLD in less than a decade. I swear ! |

You cannot eradicate crime anywhere in the world. In fact wherever commerce exists, crime must be there, they go hand in hand . The only place where you will find no crime is heaven . Everybody wants to go to heaven, but nobody wants to die - We want good country but nobody wants to pay the price for making it better. But we will get there one day, I'm sure in my lifetime. Update on my story of British House of Commons :
The Speaker of the House of Commons is currently trying to prevent full disclosure of the details of MPs second homes, that are funded by the claiming of expenses, of up to £23,000 per year, from the taxpayer. He has appealed to the courts against an Information Tribunal ruling on the basis that the addresses of these homes should not be made public for security reasons. The Tribunal considered this matter but decided that since the constituency address of all MPs is already public, there was no additional security risk. The need to know the London address of the MP is to confirm that a second home does in fact exist - as some MPs in the past actually used the address of a 'friend', but still claimed the full second home allowances, whilst continuing to live at their constituency home. So what exactly is Mr Michael Martin trying to hide ? See full story here - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2008/03/30/nexpenses130.xmlDoes all this look familiar to anybody watching Abuja and our lawmakers ? Corruption has no country. |

NIGERIA WILL EVENTUALLY GET TO THE PROMISE LAND AND BE A GREAT NATION BUT NOT IN THIS GENERATION. THIS GENERATION IS WASTED AND TOO STUBBORN. I reject that !! With my own eyes and in my time will I experience the prosperity of Nigeria. I will work for it and I will reap the fruit. |

I have a brother who worked for a construction company undertaking road maintenance for some London boroughs , and he tells me that his company is paid thousands of pounds by the boroughs monthly for work not done and which they now pay back to borough officials . It is a deal which happens everywhere , and we are not talking about a Nigerian construction company here. This is a top rated UK construction company . US government contractors I am assured are not more honest and this deal is standard. Italian contractors ?? All over the world it is a matter of : "it is the person that is caught that is the thief" . Please let us begin to support our country. If we don't do it people all over the world will only assist us to destroy it further - they can't rebuild it for us. Only Nigerians can destroy Nigeria Only Nigerians can build Nigeria |

@Sweet T @Tope_Fl I think these guys have completely answered my question. |
